I think Lakshman/Shri Ram stopped the Yamastra in middair so as not to insult it. The weapon was supposed to kill anybody it was aimed at, and since Vibhishan would not have died when it touched him, the Yamastra would have lost its value and Yama Dharmaraja would have got insulted, but if Lord Vishnu himself stopped it in middair, it would not be an insult. Just a theory...😳Vibhishan never took part in the battle of ramayana, because as future king of Lanka, Shri Ram did not want him to. His role in the death of Indrajit was to guide Lakshman and the Vanar Sena to Nikumbila's Cave only. The battle was between Indrajit and Lakshman only.Vibhishan did mourn Indrajit's death, as well as Kumbhakarn and Ravan's. Vibhishan did not hate his family, and he was not happy to see them die. He did everything for Dharma's sake only, and it pained him as much as Ravan to see Indrajit dead, but it had to be done because Indrajit supported Adharma. But as Indrajit's Uncle, Vibhishan did mourn the death of his nephew.😭😭😭
