Mallika ji, that was awesome!!! You've made Indrajeet and Sulochana omnipresent.
A small treat from my side.
Remember Ravan's entry in this series? - The song that starts with 'Jatatavee gala jjala pravaha pavitha sthale'.
This song is called Shiva Tandava Stotra. This is the song Ravan sang in praise of Lord Shiva and his Tandava dance. The song itself will make anyone want to dance. Ravan sang this song when his hands were crushed under the weight of the Kailaash mountains. (Ravan had tried to lift the entire Kailash mountain along with Lord Shiva and Parvathi. Lord Shiva pressed his big toe on the ground. The mountain crashed with a tremendous force on Ravan's hands. Realising his mistake too late, Ravan sang the Sama Veda and this song - Shiva Tandava Sotra - his own composition - to please Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva, pleased, gave Ravan His darshan and gave him the sword Chandrahasa and also blessed him saying that He will appear and bless anyone who sings this song with utmost devotion.)
Coming to the interesting part - Stanza 9 of the Shiva Tandava Stotra :
Prafulla neela pankaja prapancha kalima prabha,
Valambhi kanda kanthali ruchi prabandha kandharam,
Smarschidham puraschidham bhavaschidham makhachidham,
Gajachidandakachidham tham anthakachidham bhaje.
Translation : (I took a very long time to get this translated properly. There maybe some mistakes or a different interpretation. Please excuse me if there are any mistakes.)
I worship him, who shines with the neck as dark as the universe, like a well opened (praful means blooming, blossoming, flourishing) blue lotus tied to his neck, he who destroyed Manmadha (God of Love), the three cities (Tripura), the worldly problems, the destroyers of yagas, he who destroyed elephant faced Asura and also Lord Yama.
I hope you all enjoyed this. 😊
