A minor thing which I suspect you have heard wrong while watching the episode, as you've written, "Jatayu said, my brother died because of me."

When jatayu is telling his story to laxman, at that point of time, his elder brother Sampati, is very much alive. I don't remember what exactly jatayu's dialogues were to Laxman in the epi, but he must have said that while trying to protect his younger brother Jatayu from Sun, Sampati's wings got burned, and unable to fly anymore, Sampati fell from that great height and landed on the seashore at present India's southern tip. Unable to fly anymore, Sampati's living in a cave on the seashore ever since. We'll meet Sampati soon enough when the team led by prince Angad, with the likes of Hanuman & Jambavant in it, reaches the southern coast. 😊
