ya laxman's temper was loose in comparison to their other brothers, if someone try to think bad about his loving elder brother Ram, he could never tolerate and loose his temper soon.

Hi Julie..🤗.First of all a big hello to my old PSH acquaintance...I HOPE YOU REMEMBER ME😛SIGH...Its been ages...I watched that doomed show or entered that forum...
Well like all the members have mentioned that Lakshman was actually a very passionate person who...had the guts to call a spade a spade..His caustic remarks and his fuelling temper stems from the fact that he was Shesha nag avatar...Also...he believed in undying service to his part soul Lord Rama and could never tolerate any kind of injustice towards anyone...So the PH is actually doing a stupendous job in portraying Lakshman's character as it has been depicted in all the scriptures😳

Yeah I remember you. 😃😃You should check us out on that forum now and then. 😊Thanks for the info on Lakshman. I didn't realise he was from another avatar though. I always thought that the four brothers were born of Lord Vishnu seeing as how their mother all ate from the same kheer.😳😳😳
This show and forum is really informative.

Good point. If one goes by Valmiki, all 4 brothers were partial avatars of Vishnu, since 1/2 of the payasa went to Kaushalya, 1/4 to Sumitra, 1/8 to Kaikeyi and the remaining 1/8 to Sumitra.

If one goes by Tulsidas, which this serial claims to follow, then Kaushalya & Kaikeyi each got hald, and each gave 1/2 to Sumitra. It's originally in Adhyatma Ramayan - written by Rishi Vyasa or his disciples - that Lakshman was an avatar of Sesha (as was Balarama in the dwapar yuga), and Bharat & Shatrughan were avatars of the conch-shell and the discus. Tulsidas is a derivation of Adhyatma, and not of Valmiki.

The disclaimer that they show is something I had once discussed in the previous Ramayan serial, which also ran such a disclaimer. Point I made is that if they are deriving all these stories from various texts regarding the Ramayan, be it versions from Tulsidas, Kamban, Krittivas, et al, then it makes sense, since each of these accounts conflict in different aspects in different places. But when they use it to make stuff out of whole cloth, it starts getting troublesome.

To take 2 examples in this serial, when Bharat lost the competition to Rama, Mandavi was incensed. I'm seriously interested in knowing which version has that, b'cos if it's an invention of this PH, then it's slander. Similarly, in today's episode, Sita having a dream about Dasharath dying, and then doing his pindi-daan - where's that from? Women didn't - and don't - do pindi-daans - that's always been a duty of sons, fathers, husbands, brothers or nephews. To show Sita doing it suggests that the PH has no clue about such customs. Aside from that, Rama & Lakshman did not know that Dasharath had passed away until Bharat broke that news to them.

But back to topic, Lakshman did have a volcanic temper, and one of the explanations was what you gave - Sesha naag. In this serial, he seems rather subdued; I don't want to compare serials, but in both the previous Sagar Arts serials, more so in the first one, he really came out w/ his temper well. Anyway, he'll have plenty of time to improvise, since there's a lot of time before his encounters w/ Sugreev & Indrajeet.

Does Lakshman's characterisation need improvement or the actor playing Lakshman has to improve in his portrayal of Lakshman's temper?

i agree..in what context neil should improvise?????..he is the only one worth watching..its not right to blame an actor if his scenes are weakly written...if they dont give him chance how is he gonna improvise...???😕..i think he did fulljustice to all his scene...take for example..he was perfect in parshuram scene..thats was the only well written scene even though there also they chopped off his sarcastic remarks...now they chopped of his convo with guha...they even dint write any scene to showcase his anger towards kaikeyi..he got angry at manthara and handled kaikeyi with more respect...i took it as may be lakshman knew where to draw the line even when he was angry...and it was wonderfully portrayed by neil...he showcased mutiple emotions in that single episode..hurt,pain,helplessness,anger ,devotion , reverence for urmila and in the end acted as like a true warrior...the way he was standing in vanvaas costume with utmost confidence was outstanding...
what more he can do ??? i fail to understand...even when he is few seconds on screen u can see various emotions he is going thru..he is best when it comes to bring that subtle nuances..and he is equally fierce when the scene demands...and that is a very rare combination thesedays...and i love neil for this immense talent he has..
