Is Ram worshipping Goddess Durga not in RCM?

I have grown up knowing that Ram worshipped Goddess Durga before killing Ravana on the Dussehra day.

Is this present in authentic versions of Ramayana?

I see Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana did not have this part.

Please enlighten.

Because it is not stated in Valmiki Ramayan as far as I remember. That version is the original. Even Ramcharitramanas by Tulsidas ji has many discrepancies.

Future translations always changed something or the other and added something new which either made no sense or something that justified a certain culture.

Lord ram able to kill raavan when vibishan told ram in order to kill raavan amrit in raavan navel should be dry

Then Lord ram made amrit in ravan naval dry and then kill him

No problem 😊 There are English translation novels available of Valmiki Ramayan, you can read the ones that are not 'interpreted versions'. Because those only mention the translator's viewpoint, which might cause many important multiple/hidden meanings and messages to be 'lost'.

Yes, the Durga Ma story is from the Bengali Krittivasi Ramayana.

A lot of popular stories we have grown up learning are from regional sources, rather than the original epic.

For example, a lot of South Indians are raised learning that Ravan never 'touched' Sita, that he unearthed the plot of land she stood on the kidnap her. Personally, I don't care for this version because I don't believe Sita's piety and purity are in any way affected by being touched by Ravan, same way Draupadi's purity was not decreased by being touched by Dushashan. But in my family, this story is very much believed my grandparents/aunts/uncles believe Ravan touching Sita to abduct her is 'false' though it's written in the original epic lol.

Also, Urmila sleeping for 14 years is from the Telugu regional version of Ramayana by Kalidasa. I'm not a huge fan of this story, but it's popular in Andhra Pradhesh and shown in almost every telugu Ramayana movie.
