I think calling anyone names is uncalled for, whether it is manmohan or whatnot. I've spoken up against that when it has happened on our forum.

I find it so interesting that you two think that a few posts on an online forum count as a "thesis." My sis is actually writing her thesis, and she'd find it really funny... everyone comes here for timepass.

I think some people here are more obsessed with Rakhi than anyone else. 😆
Why fixate on Rakhi so much? Why do you think whatever people write is a "thesis on Rakhi?" Are people's opinions limited to categories like, fan/not fan? Especially for the very "mature" people on here, I am sure you have met people in life who don't consider themselves a fan of someone or something, but has the integrity to reasonably discuss an issue without blindly defending it.

In our generation, we grew up typing, so we type really fast, so we write more. I probably type 80 words per minute, I don't know.. never measured my typing speed. But how do you know what people are doing that's related to India outside the forum? Would you really decide whether you should be proud of someone or not on the basis of their posts on an online forum? Especially when you know next to nothing about their lives?

Personally speaking, I am a student, and am procrastinating on here because it's summer vacation. But it doesn't mean that just because I'm here I should turn my brain off, not say anything reasonable, and simply type posts with smileys and lol in it. Or worse, say mean and unpleasant things about other people.. There might be a lot of "kids" in this forum, but some of them are really good, they're going to be even better human beings when they are in their 30s and 40s. Sure, we have a lot to learn, but we show how much we've already learned when we don't judge people. So repeatedly calling people "kids" is simply condescending and meaningless.

It's always easy to join in the tamasha, it's hard to be critical of it! Age has little to do with maturity. Well.. enjoy the tamasha! I'm out. Peace!

And in case someone comes to ask me to chill, I am quite chilled already. A/C abhi on hai. 😛

I share your point of view, but don't feel so disappointed about what others say.

I wonder about what kind of a world we have, where mean spiritedness and gossiping that people enjoy online passes as "leisure." Why must "fun" and "leisure" be about mean gossiping? Aren't there other ways to have fun and be light-hearted? Think of it this way, those who get so much pleasure out of doing that, how their lives must be.. in a way we must feel bad for them. When this show is over, they'll be taking out their meanness elsewhere. I guess what's what makes me feel bad!

I guess it's not worth it getting philosophical about it! I should really go into psychology...just to understand why people act the way they do! 😛

Anyway, hope you don't continue to feel disappointed. There are lots of very decent, smart, and kind people here as well. So I hope you'll be fair to everyone. 😊

@arti.. this is what you wrote on first page.. just check the bolded part.. you are speculating about people's lives from online posts they write and then this is what you wrote in your 2nd post.. just see the contradiction.

As I said before.. I don't have any problem with people praising Rakhi. But then they should not start dictating what other people should do.. this is an open forum so there will be positive as well as negative.. as long as members are following COC and not using abusive language.. nobody should have problem with each other.. 😊

Hi Purva, you have a point, and I should not have said that. It came out of some frustration with the growing number of topics that I find kind of sexist and insulting to women. And people post certain mean comments with such a degree of glee that it disturbs me simply as a human being. It really has nothing to do with Rakhi.

Is it so wrong to feel bothered by sexism? Just because people have freedom of expression, would you be okay with people taking up space on a forum to be racist, for example?

I am not saying people should say positive or negative things.. I just support a respectful attitude such as the one in your last post.

But let me be frank, since the beginning of the show, Chits has been sardonically referring to "kids" and "Rakhi's fans" repeatedly. Almost in every post. I have stopped directly addressing her, but I don't think her condescending behaviour is okay just because it doesn't directly violate IF COC. In fact, her posts are quite inflammatory. I hate being called a Rakhi fan. I am so critical of many things Rakhi symbolizes. For instance, she starves herself, and that attitude is so harmful to girls. But there is such a thing as fair criticism. I have no problems with so many people on this forum who don't like Rakhi.. I get along perfectly with them if they are respectful.

In a topic she started about Rakhi calling herself an Indian girl, she did not address anyone's reply. Someone else was replying, and Chits just called people immature. I think everyone on the forum deserves equal respect, regardless of age or views. If someone has modern views, don't fault them for it. Try to find a middle ground, or just walk away.

Everyone can post things, but they should be willing to deal with replies. But if one simply deflects the replies by saying "you are writing a thesis" or "you are a kid," then that's too bad. I won't even point out the irony in that.

Anyway, I don't want to be sounding like "she started it" because that's childish (waise I'm just an immature kid, so it should be okay!) but I thought I should explain the context of why I said that.

I hope to disengage from this topic now. I have honestly stopped posting in a lot of topics. I feel rather discouraged by the tone of many recent posts and made a conscious decision to actively stop myself from posting in many topics. I have always wanted to maintain the decorum of this place, so in accordance with that, I'm going to let this go.

Peace.

arti.. ok I get what you are saying.. don't know what happened before between you and other members here as I joined this section late. Your post was talking about people having fun.. and I am one of them so was bothered that someone is judging my life from what I am writing here.. and in no way I have been mean to any member here or even Rakhi. I just find this whole swayamvar fake.. that's why I am not taking it seriously.. In the end if Rakhi finds her dream man.. I will be happy for her but other than that this whole thing for me is no less than any other "k" type drama. So I am enjoying it just like that. Anyway.. peace from my side too 😊
