Yes... Douhitra-- the son of a daughter is also a lawful heir to the empire, as you mentioned, that must be the main reason behind killing even the daughters and their offsprings.

They just wanted to write a teen fiction hence this mess. They never really wanted to show the divine aspects of any character. They even sabotaged Krishna's divinity. Remember how they erased his Kaliya naag mardan/daman leela memory from every Barsana vaasi's mind except Radha ? Remember how they manipulated his Govardhan leela as prem ki shakti se parvat bhi uthaya ja sakta hai crap ? Remember how they twisted his makhan chori leelas as kyun ki Radha ne bola tha makhan churao toh krishna ne churaya leelas ? Remember how they altered the yamala-arjuna (nalakuvara-manigriva) mukti leela as Radha ke saath jungle mein khelne ke liye Krishna ne pedon ko ukhada leela ? And many more ????? They only had one motive;to juxtapose Radha even where she doesn't belong. They lived by their show's tagline"Krishna jo bhi karta hai,Radha ke liye karta hai." so there never really was a chance to see the correct or even a decent presentation of the real Radhakrishna lovestory. We were expecting too much from them.
