The kids belong to the royal family, but the truth is they were also half-Yadavas. Yadavas were royals, too, to be frank.

Karna was prevented to contest when the valor display of Princes was going on because he was a lower caste person [ son of a charioteer ] and he was prevented from contesting the swayamvar of Draupadi on the same reason !

I think Karna was prevented because he wasn't a royal, and that valour display was exclusively for royals. Because he was allowed to contest after he became Angaraaj.

Regarding Draupadi Swayamwar, it was Draupadi's right to choose whether she wanted to marry a Kshatriya or a Suta, so I guess it wasn't a discrimination. It was a choice the Princess made.

But the royals and the seers allowed Arjun to attempt because he is in Brahmin attire.

Some mocked Arjuna, some encouraged and some discouraged. But the royal family allowed him so he participated.

Only Brahmins were allowed to marry a woman from any caste !! [ a highly debatable point , but it is always better to avoid a deep discussion on caste system/ favoritism in this forum I feel , so preventing myself to go deep on this point ] .

Even Parasuram insulted and cursed Karna for telling him that he was a brahmin! And Drona denied teaching Yeklavya the archery because he is not royal blood ! And one imp point I want to clarify here is I am not putting Yadavas down , just mentioned about the norms of that day. For me all are equal and I am a staunch follower of Bhagavat Geeta .

And Daksha thanks once again🤗 for making it clear to me that the villagers are not in a position to giving / serving biksha to seers because of their financial position.
