Most of the people here have given references from smritis and Tantras. But Radha is mentioned in one of the 108 muktika canon Upanishads. Namely Gopala Tapani Upanishad
The central character of this Upanishad is Radha who is described as the Shakti of Krishna, her devotion and Dedication of Gopala Krishna. Krishna is presented as identical to the nondual Absolute Reality (Atman-Brahman), the sat-cit-ananda, the Guru, the Om and the object of Vedanta, who can be reached by devotion to love. It is an important text to the Vaiava schools of Hinduism, particularly the Gaudiya Vaishnavas of Bengal region.
People should stop believing in these modern-day mythologists, who use Hindu holy books for entertainment!I feel it is not entertainment , it is a torture for us , degrading Radha and her love ... pathetic really !
First of all , according to many scriptures , Radha was elder than Krishna [ that's why she was his love Guru !] and by the time she met Krishna , she was already married, still waiting for the Divine lover ! The curse and previous Golok story and Radha forgetting about the past , --this was mentioned in 1 or 2 scriptures, to support the theory of Krishna moving away from her and never looked back after leaving the Brindavan! According to authentic sources, Radha was a distant relative of Nand , sister to him, married and living in the Brindavan with her less prominent husband Ayan . In one or two scriptures there was a mention of Radha having a daughter called Ila, but that story was written by a Dev Daasi[ Muddu Palani ]in 10th or 11th century , so we can ignore it ! But anywhere in the Puranas or in Upanishads , there was no mention of Sudevi and her dubious marriage and Radha quarreling with and questioning Krishna!!I respect a writer's freedom and if they started the story with that curse story [ many loopholes in that story !!] and if they want to show Radha as the same age girl with Krishna , its fine, but making her ignorant regarding love and hating and torturing Krishna is more than fun !😲
Who is Radha ? What is her relationship with her Kanha? According to me ---
Silence is just like a hymn... spreading the serenity in those surroundings. She is free in her wildness... Radha is a wanderess , a drop of free water. She knows nothing of borders and cares, nothing of rules or customs. 'Time' for her isn't something to fight against. Her life flows clean, with passion, like a scented breeze.
A song of prayer is transforming into a poetry of desire there ! Radha asking her Krishna.." must you still evade me, my dear, must you? You may be beyond the grasp of the Universe; the sun and the nectar cool moon are maybe just your two eyes, but still, must you evade me? You are everything, and everything is you. I know it , still I searched everywhere for you , but in vain, then I searched within for you my heart , I found you there ! You suffused my thoughts, I have abandoned everything for you; Come ,Krishna , rescue me from my loneliness --Must you still evade me, my dear, must you?" -she was sitting there in her favorite niche on the river bank like a queen of the world and laughing gleefully with her Krishna ! With a handful of flowers she was praying for a divine union with Krishna with words unspoken, she led a quiet exchange of vows with those little blooms in her hand , taking seven steps silently around the aroused desire as a fire there with her Krishna . Her joy in receiving his acceptance had no bounds! She was listening to the Yaman Kalyan rag from his Bansuri in her dreamy world !--
