Ya, Hi. xD I really liked The Monster I loved too... I wish you would continue that. Anyhow, coming to this one. Its amaizng. Going in an amazing manner. Up till Chapter 9 or 10 or maybe 7-8, I could connect with it. But the later updates, though good, remind me more of Khushi-Arnav than Asad-Zoya. LOL. They are good. But, the Zoya isnt the same one of the earlier parts. Especially the last one was most pronounced. Zoya doesnt call people 'Jee', Khushi does. xD Zoya's clumsiness is classy, Khushi's is desi, and that is what I found in the last few parts. Secondly, I dont understand the flow here. Zoya took Asad's diary, and read everything. But still seems oblivious. She cried, reading it all, but now, she seems ignorant. Also, Zoya knows about Asad doing drugs earlier, and coming up again - the tale that Akram told her. She was told by her friend or Asad, if I am not mistaken. In the earlier Chapters. I am confused right now. LOL. And, Zoya knows about Tanveer from the diary right? If you could write the next Chapter from Zoya's POV, like the earlier ones... lol. I am not criticising or anything, do not take me wrong. Just clarifying things. Thanks! Love!

Dear Friends,

Due to a malware problem in my laptop, I am unable to like/ reply to your individual posts. I am actually using someone else's system for posting the updates. But I make sure to read every comment; and I can't be thankful enough for your continued love and support.

Your feedback is really important to me, as it tells me whether the story is heading towards the right direction. For instance, one of my IF friend najma123 has pointed out a few things in the latest update that she found confusing.

I am trying to clarify them as best as I can-

1. Why does Zoya seem to be oblivious to Asad's addiction problems when Akram told her about it?

- Zoya was already well aware of Asad's alcohol addiction from their brief (and unfortunate) encounters at the bar. She read about it in Asad's diary too.

That Asad was fighting several other demons like insomnia, substance abuse and addiction to prescription drugs was news to her. When Akram informed her about it, she decided to keep quiet. She didn't want the rest of the world to know that she'd read Asad's diary and already knew about him more than she should. She was just acting ignorant.

2. Why did Zoya not recognize Tanveer when she saw her in the washroom? Did she already not see her picture in Asad's diary?

-Well, Tanveer did seem strangely familiar to her when Zoya encountered her in the washroom (It was mentioned in the chapter). However, in Asad's diary, he always referred to her as 'Tannu' rather than 'Tanveer Ali Mirza'. Hence, she couldn't make an instant connection between the two. (It's like having a friend whom you've addressed as 'Lucky' throughout the college semesters and he turns out to be 'Laxman Prasad Sharma' in real life and all you can do is to scream in disbelief 😊!)

Zoya saw her picture too in Asad's diary, but Tannu's face was turned sideways. She was in bridal attire, contrary to her messy state in the washroom (with her weeping mascara and all). Besides, Zoya was checking out the diary entries, should we say, a little illegally (hiding from Asad, of course). In her hurry to take it in all at once, she didn't pay enough attention to it.

Thank you najma123 for being such an attentive reader. I loved how you've read and analyzed the actions of the characters. Hope Zoya's action makes sense now. If any of my wonderful IF friends is having any difficulties following the flow of the story, please share with me. Nothing gives me more happiness than to know that the story is being followed in such a loving manner.

Love

Chapter-13

Asad grabbed her shoulders so abruptly and so firmly, Zoya winced with pain.

"What did you say her name was, Zoya?" Asad's face had turned very pale.

"Tanveer...Tanveer Ali Mirza. Allah Miyaan what's wrong with you, Mr. Khan! You are hurting me." Zoya cried out.

Asad stepped away from her and buried his head in his hands.

"Tannu!" he whispered.

Zoya's breath hitched in her throat. Realization lashed hard on her mind and it was suddenly clear why the lady looked so familiar.

*If I am not wrong, that was Mr. Khan's fiance who dumped him on the day of their nikah! Tanveer Ali Mirza isTannu! Allah Miyaan, what is Mr.Khan going to do now?* Zoya stared at Asad, who had turned sickly pale.

"Mr. Khan, are you okay? What's wrong?" Zoya gently patted his arm, even though she knew very well exactly what was wrong with him.

"I...ummm, I am fine, Ms. Farooqui. Excuse me for a moment. I will be right back." Asad was biting on his lip hard, which told Zoya he was far from being fine.

Zoya didn't take her eyes off him as he stumbled through the crowd.

*I'll be damned if he's not going towards the ladies room.* Zoya shook her head.

"I guess the registration has to wait a bit. I've to make sure Mr. Khan doesn't end up doing something which he will regret immensely afterwards." she mumbled and followed him out of the banquet hall.

*********************************************************************************************************
Zoya found the door of the washroom closed when she reached there, making sure to keep a reasonably safe distance from Asad, so that he doesn't suspect anything.

She cracked the door open a little bit and squinted her eyes to take a good look.

"Jammie" Tannu was sobbing "I would've killed myself before saying this, but if there is anything in this world that can save my marriage to Ali, it has to be this award. You must know that the Mirza group is on the verge of bankruptcy and only the deal with this German company can save us." she sniffed.

"Tannu, stop crying and listen to me. You have to be positive about everything. You are not alone now. You're with a child." Zoya could see Asad was trying to be his usual calm self, but the pain and hurt still shone in his eyes.

*He still cares too much. Allah Miyaan, this is not good where it's heading.* Zoya held her breath and listened.

"That's why I am so scared, Asad. I don't want my baby to be raised without a father. You, out of all people should know how it feels." Tannu wrapped her arms around his torso and sobbed on his chest. "If Ali is not out of this financial crisis, he won't be able to even provide for us, me and my child."

"What do you want me to do about it?" Asad didn't hug her back. His jawline was stiff and his eyes were closed.

"You know it already, don't you? Don't make me say it Jammie; my heart will break." Tannu whimpered.

"You want me to step aside...not nominate ourselves? Is that what you want Tannu, to cancel our registration?" Asad stepped away from her and looked into her eyes. "You think that's going to make everything right?"

"Jammie, please don't hate me. Don't look at me like that. I can't live with your hatred, but I have to speak for the sake of my child." Tannu placed her hand on her tummy. "It is true that my husband can never compete with you if you are nominated. You winning the award is just a matter of time. If not this year, you have so many years ahead of you to win it; but I am running out of time.

Ali even told me he wanted me to abort the child, since he won't be able to support us right now. My child's life is in your hand, Jammie. My life is in your hand." Tannu sounded out of breath with sobbing.

Asad's eyes darkened with some strange emotion. "Maybe Mr. Ali Mirza should've handled his deals more like a businessman than a gambler, instead of messing with the future of his wife and child."

"I know Jammie, he had been through some ups and downs lately. We've seen hard times like never before. I wish I could tell you how many sleepless nights I've spent crying, thinking about us." Tannu clutched the sleeve of Asad's blazer. "About what my life could have been with someone like you."

"Tannu, please." Asad breathed. His fingers curled up in a fist so tightly his knuckles went white.

"Jammie, I've no one whom I can trust right now. You are my only hope. My only chance towards having a normal life." Tannu started swaying as she spoke. Asad gripped her shoulders firmly to steady her.

"Tannu, you have to calm down now. Just try to breath. I promise I won't stand in the way of your happiness. I give you my words." He said quietly.

"Jammie." Tannu mumbled. She was swooning heavily and ended up falling in his arms.

*How conveniently manipulative! Kya acting hai, Madam Tanveer. Too bad Mr.Khan fell for it.* Zoya shook her head in disbelief. *but I am not buying even one bit of that BS. Time to get into some action.*

"Excuse me, do you mind?" a voice behind her startled Zoya. An elderly lady, clad in a peacock-blue kanchipuram saree was standing behind her. She was pointing towards the washroom door which Zoya was clearly blocking at that time.

"Actually, there are some maintenance work going on inside. The floor's wet and I'm here to warn people about it." Zoya deadpanned.

"Ohh My bad; but when you've got to go, you've got to go." the lady looked at her helplessly. "I think I can manage it, beta."

Zoya pressed her lips together. She was really feeling bad for this granny.

*Allah Miyaan! What's with Mr.Khan and the ladies' room! Always end with a drama.* Zoya was really annoyed.

"Aunty, woh actually..." Zoya lowered her voice "there is a couple inside. They are kinda...umm...err...close right now. I'm sure you don't wanna see this. They are like...all over each other, ewww!"

"Oh really! Can I have a look then?" the lady shrieked.

Zoya gaped at her disbelievingly. "No, I don't think it will be a good idea." she shook her head slowly.

"Sad! Why should you have all the fun!" the lady pouted. She retreated to her seat rather reluctantly.

*What a bad@$$ granny! I bet I will turn out to be much like her when I am older.* Zoya almost smiled.

*******************************************************************************************************

After a few minutes, Zoya spotted Asad hurrying towards her.

"Miss Farooqui, where is Akram?" Asad's face had turned a deep shade of crimson.

"He must be around here, somewhere." Zoya replied timidly.

"Just tell him to be here in two minutes." Asad snapped.

Both Zoya and Akram stood there after a couple of minutes, head hanging low in obedience and ears pricked with attention.

"Akram, did you do the registration for the award ceremony?" Asad asked in a no-nonsense tone.

"Actually, Mr.Khan, I was supposed to do it. Akram was talking to a few Korean delegates, so he couldn't manage it." Zoya was prompt to come to his rescue.

"Did YOU do it then?" Asad's gaze shifted to her.

"I was just about to do it ." Zoya mumbled. She avoided meeting his gaze.

"Well, it's not needed any more. We are not going to register this year." said Asad, much to the dismay of Akram.

"WHAT! I mean WHY, Boss?" Akram looked genuinely distressed.

"Well, it's a matter of company policy, which I won't be able to share with you guys right now. Just know that it is for some greater good." Asad sighed wearily.

"But Boss, it means we will be out of the competition this year." Akram was still having a difficult time digesting the fact.

"Akram, there is always a next time." Asad gave them a sad smile. "This time, please do as I say, okay? Would you do this for me, fellas?"

"Yes, Sir." said Zoya and Akram in unison

"Miss Farooqui, I don't understand. Why do you keep insisting me to be present for the award show? I think I would like to go back to our hotel. I am not feeling very well, to be truthful." Asad frowned.

"Mr. Khan, we are representing DS constructions here. You know how the media will react if we leave suddenly in the middle of the event. It can damage our reputation. Besides, this is me attending a global summit for the first time in my life. So could we just stay a little longer and enjoy the event as much as possible, please?" Zoya pleaded.

"Yeah, I guess it's okay." Asad shrugged.

A huge round of applause and cheers rose from the crowd as famous adman Prahlad Kakkar took the stage to announce the big winners of the evening.

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen, it's a great honour to share the stage with some of the country's biggest name in business..." he addressed the audience. Zoya's eyes were searching for Tanveer. Finally she spotted her sitting next to a man dressed in a bandhgala suit. The man looked much older to Tanveer.

"...and the award goes to...the very talented and dynamic young man who is the heart of Dilshad Construction...may I call upon Mr. Asad Ahmed Khan, our rising star of the year on stage."

The audience erupted with loud cheering and clapping as Asad sat there, stone-faced. Then he slowly stood up, adjusted his suit and started walking towards the stage.

Akram was shell shocked, but couldn't stop clapping when Mr.Kakkar handed the award to Asad. The tight knot in Zoya's heart eased a little when she saw the familiar charming smile back on Asad's face.

"Trust me when I say I don't deserve this award. This award belongs to everyone associated with DSC. Without you guys, it would've not been possible. So a very big THANK YOU to all of you. I would like to request my friends, Mr. Akram and Ms. Zoya Farooqui to come to the stage and share the honour and joy on behalf of our entire DSC group." He held the trophy a little higher and said "Ammi, this one is for you."

The walk to the stage was surreal for Zoya, amidst all the lights, flashes and cheering. It was like an out-of-the-body kind of experience and she wanted to memorize every little detail of it, until she heard Asad whispering menacingly in her ear.

"Miss Farooqui, what have you done?"

Amazing update
Loved reading it
Tanveer trying to make asad emotional and asking him to cancel the deal
Still can't figure out whether it was genuine or not
Maybe not!😕
Zoya not wanting asad to come in tanveer's talks
And the last part of the update was the game changer
But the last sentence makes me realise that asad is surely going to burst out on zoya.
Eagerly waiting for the next part to know what happens next
Please continue soon
Will be waiting impatiently 😊
