Because this is what happens when they don't end a storyline before starting a new one. If they'd given SaHil a happy ending in season 2 then they could've started season 3 with Surbhi/Varun as the main leads in new roles.

See I am neither a shajan fan nor a sahil fan. But fact is sanam is married to ahil & both of them r in deeply love with each other. They were not separated willing. Sanam has memory loss post her accident. She doesn't know herself & is in impression that she is shads wife. So v cant say she started a new life happily. So considering all this she should end with her husband only. Not with shad. Sanam & ahil had many problems & flaws in there relationships but towards the end of the day the fact is they loves each other & want to be with each other forever.
After asya & Sehan I learnt one thing never ever get attached to a couple in tv especially in QH. So my sincere advice to u too the same thing.
