Tanver Beig- A woman who hunted for a man to give her respectability- something she could never earn on her own. Lies, Deception, Cold blooded murder- There was no end to the devices she chose as she furiously pursued that evasive dream.
Four Men:
Imran Qureshi- Who had flown like a fly into her trap, but had escaped only because her attention had shifted on to greener pasture- The Lucky Guy.
Asad Ahmed Khan- The man who paid with his life and that of his family as he emphatically rejected her over and over again.
Gafur Ahmed Siddiqui- A repentant father who made a mockery of his whole life when he gave up his honour in exchange of the child he had abandoned once...
Nawab Raza Ibrahim: The moth to the flame- the man banished into a life of non existence as he succumbed to the charms of a wolf in sheep's clothing- swallowing her lies...acting on her advice..until one day he stumbled on her truth...and that cost him a large part of his life.
(Many a times I have wondered aloud here why the Nawab never featured in Tanveer's list of murders as she recapped all those horrible deaths she brought about...and now I have my answer! Resurrecting him was probably just a matter of convenience...but in retrospect, there never was a scene beyond Tanveer pointing the gun at him. So he was the last resort she had kept hidden...one cannot help but wonder why she did not put a gun to his head to get everything she wanted...or even use Aahil as a ransom...I suppose it can be explained away as her need for respectability...a position in the society.. . She did not want to be known as a plunderer...wanted to be the rightful owner of the wealth with all the respect that came as the black widow who took her husband's life to save her stepson from torture...and how proud she was when Aahil named that Street after her...she was on top of the world right then. For her, that one award was worth all the trouble she went through, I suppose)
Aahil has now closed a chapter in his life. Interestingly, he has not torn it off. He will not deny that it existed, nor will he ignore it. It is VERY MUCH A PART OF HIS LIFE...will always be. She is the mother he remembers...she might have devastated him, but he cannot forsake the memories of a mother who had been kind to an orphaned boy. How right was Sanam to try and break it to him as gently as possible...And Haya to have prayed for the strength for him to bear with the ugliest truth in his life.
Tanveer cleverly manipulated Aahil all his life to the extent of destroying him. She tried to corrupt his soul, pushing him towards all the vices..under the pretext of giving him freedom and liberating him. In effect, she was entangling him in a web...Never did she anticipate that love would make him break free.
Tanveer looked for love and admiration from different corners all her life. How ironical that the only person who cared for her ever was Aahil. Rehaan, her own blood was nauseated at her ugliness...he wanted to run away from her stench. Aahil, on the other hand, faced the worst ever fate at her hands..that of having been bitten deep , back stabbed at...and having to survive the biggest deception of all.
The trust was shaken, the illusion shattered. Yet he couldn't bear to see her die. The idol he had worshipped over years..the devotion that had piled up...He still couldn't hate her because of what she had meant to him once.
She had been selfish...conniving...evil...but she couldn't taint the image of motherhood even as she vowed to mutilate it and bury it. A strange tribute to motherhood, indeed...the one Aahil wanted to preserve, perhaps because she had built up on the foundations of his feelings for his birth mother. And so,we have Tanveer ranting madly, asking him to get lost...and the child she cast out holds on to her in her death...even as she spits at him. How small is Tanveer in front of that boy who cannot hold a grudge against her, even in the depths of sadness and dejection.
Did Aahil hold Tanveer above everything else? No.
He was devastated...resigned to his fate...the will to fight having gone at the sudden exposure...but concern for Sanam woke him up. He laid aside his pain and disappointments and ran to her rescue...and went on to prove that love could keep him going even when he was at his lowest... It was love triumphing over evil.
'Maa kabhi galat nahi ho sakti hai na?'...an innocent question another hero of Gul's asked when the woman he looked up to as his mother betrayed him. He did not retaliate...he was ever willing to forgive all her trespasses...only after he made sure he stayed out of her sight...the trust was not broken..it was just moving away to give space, so there'd be no further betrayals...with all respect.
Aahil went one step further. His trust was broken beyond repair...He knew he had lost a mother. Yet he forgave, and gave back...Goodness in return for the evil...THE BATTLE THAT TANVEER LOST!👏
Both these heroes- the other one being Sahir from Humsfaras and this particular dialogue being one of my favourite from the show- remind me of shades of Ram who left Ayodhya for his step mother...He loved her and respected her enough to move out of her son's way as soon as he realised he was the bone of contention. I actually liked Tanveer's end. I used to think Sanam 2'd bring about her end, but I feel it is good that she died in Aahil's arms. His forgiveness is a gift she does not deserve and can never pay back.👏
