Part 1
"So tell me Rehaan which decision of mine was disturbing you" asked Asad while strolling through the corridors of wedding hall.
"Asad why are you renting a new villa, while you still have my house in the city, Even Ammi was angry with you" Said Rehaan while walking next to Asad.
"As you know Mumbai Branch has been set up recently I have to work a lot for its success. My timings won't be regular and uselessly aunty will be disturbed every day. If I take a separate house everything would be according to me. Also I will talk with Aunty personally" Explained Asad pleasantly.
"But still Asad..."
"You have to understand Rehaan, I will be more than comfortable in the new house. "
"Okay, upto you bro!" said Rehaan while observing the decoration while walking through the corridor. Their walk came to a halt as they heard a loud voice through a room's window.
"Zoya stop arguing!" a male voice shouted.
Asad and Rehaan peeped through the window. There was guy in his twenties with the wedding dress. Must be the groom thought Asad. There was also a very proud looking lady standing beside the groom. There was another girl who was in a heavy red dress. One could tell her by the dress that she was the bride. Both the boys couldn't see the girl as her back was facing the window.
"Rehaan eavesdropping is not manners. Come let's go" Whispered Asad while pulling his friend who was keenly observing the whole scene in the room.
"Bhai! Zoya is the name of the bride and it looks like something big is going on and by the way who will come to know that we are listening. Just stay Asad" Replied Rehaan while noticing all other people in the room. Asad silently obliged as the scene in the room turned out to be interesting.
"I don't believe you Akram. You know me very well and still you don't know how much I value my friends. It's just too sick. For your mother I gave up my dressing style, my behavior, my hobbies and most importantly my job. But I can't lose my friends. Just because you don't like them, you tell me to kick them out of my marriage!?They are my only family Rehaan, and humiliating them would be no less than humiliating me." Shouted Zoya, with anger and frustration evident in her voice.
She just had enough of adjustment she can't lose her self-respect to people who don't respect her. So what it if they are her fianc parents."And by the way this my marriage and my friends will stay with me and I don't care what others think about my decision." She added while looking at Haseena, Akram's mother.
Even though he couldn't see her face, Asad felt a feeling develop for that girl, well it was respect. He totally agreed with whatever she said, Self-respect comes first.
"Ya Allah! What kind of girl are you? Does anyone talk like this on their marriage day? That's too with your mother in law? How unlucky am I to get a Bahu like you" taunted Haseena. She then turned toward Akram and added "Akram what kind of a Bahu you brought to our family. You said that she was orphan and will quietly do whatever I tell her. You even told that your love was born out of sympathy and soon even I will like her. Arey tumne yeh bhi tho bola thi ki uski poora paise hume milega, par iske baathon se tho lagta hain ki sab uski doston ko hi dedegi"
"Ammi! Please stay quiet!" Shouted Akram alarmed with his mother's words.
"So you sympathize me Mr. Akram Siddiqui .Never knew my already less property will be so attractive, that a person can marry me for that! Everything clicks perfectly now" Zoya mocked with a tearful smile."I just want to ask you one last thing, is this marriage for love or sympathy? "She asked Akram with a glare.
"Zoya baby it is not the time to ask..." Rehaan tried to justify.
"Just cut the crap and answer me straight forwardly" she said the words with calmly yet seriously.
Even Asad was taken aback by the girl's question. She really had a brave attitude and he liked it.
"Yes this marriage is simply because of my Son's sympathy on you. Any problem?" Answered Haseena.
Zoya closed her eyes to stop tears and said "I guess this it Mr. Siddiqui. Thanks for your SYMPATHY. " She turned to leave."Jathe Jathe ring tho dekhe jao. Khamkha kharidliya iss chudail kay liye."taunted Haseena.
She stopped, took the ring and put it in Akram's hand. She then saw into Akram's eyes with hurt.
"Zoya you know I love you right?!" said Akram tearfully.
"Why are you still standing here, go! Go and enjoy with your lovely friends" said Haseena sarcastically.
Unable to take the insulting remarks Zoya closed her eyes, turned and ran out of the room.
"Zoya no..." Akram said pleadingly while following her. He stopped in his tracks by seeing his mother's deathly glare.
***************************
Asad was completely impressed with the girl's attitude. He completely agreed with her. But still he felt bad that her marriage was broken and understood how hard it would be for anyone. His chain of thoughts was broken as he saw the girl running to another room. He still couldn't see her as she was going to other side of the hall with her back facing him. Rehaan was still shamelessly peeping in the room. He was about to pull him, when his phone started ringing. It was Prasad.
"Yes Mr. Prasad. Hello? Hello? Can u here me!" shouted Asad into the phone while walking through the corridor trying to catch the signals.
*****************************
When you get insulted by the person whom you have been fond of, it is no less than a stab in your heart. Yes Zoya was hurt; it was not because of Akram's mother but because of Akram's indifference towards her. She had known him since years, trusted him and depended on him. And now he ended up trashing all her married life dreams. Although she never loved him to the fullest, but she was attached to him.
She ran as fast as she could into her room and collapsed on the floor. She now couldn't control her tears and started sobbing openly after the humiliation. At that point of time she really missed her parents, she really did.
****
"Yes sir, now I can hear you. I just called you to inform that the new villa has been cleaned neatly and you can shift at any minute Mr. Khan."
Asad was about to answer Prasad, but stopped when he heard a girl's sobs in the adjacent room.
"Um... Mr. Prasad I will talk to you later" with that he hung up the phone.
"Ammi Abbu I miss u so badly...Please come back... Please Ammi... Plea...se..." It was the voice of the same girl. He felt extremely sorry for the poor girl. He peeped through the window, couldn't see her.
He walked up to the opened door pushed it silently ensuring not to disturb the girl. What he saw in front of his eyes, took his breath away. There was the most beautiful girl he has ever seen, who was weeping badly. As he kept staring at her, her dupatta from her head slipped, which made her hair dance in its own way. She was beyond beautiful. Her innocent face, silky hair and her perfect curves, she was an angel. An angel descended from heaven. He was just mesmerized. When he noticed the girl wiping a tear which was flowing on her face, an unknown feeling crept through his heart. Her tears pierced his heart,it felt as if he himself was going through the pain.As if in a trance he was about to step into the room, but stopped when he felt a tug on his shoulder. It was Rehaan
"Asad what are you doing here, did you forget you had to shift to the new house?"
"Oh yeah... Let's go!" with that he turned to leave after praying for the girl's well being.
******************************************************************
"Nice house Asad! How did you find it by the way?" Rehaan asked while unpacking the furniture.
"Just the local broker"
"Don't you think this house is too small for your range?" asked Rehaan.
Asad looked around, it was a cozy house with seven rooms in total. Although not big as Asad's own house, still it had its beauty in it.
"Its more than enough for me Rehaan" Answered Asad while moving a table.
"Hmm... Any idea who stays in that attached villa?" Rehaan said while peeping into the neighborhood. This guy will never change, thought Asad.
"Some girl it seems, the broker told me"
"GIRL? Man you're lucky!" he said while jumping on his feet.
Asad rolled his eyes over his friend's eagerness and pulled him by the shoulder and warned not to do any mischief.
"I guess we are done, so Good night Bro meet you later, Ammi must be waiting!" said Rehaan while giving a brotherly hug to Asad.
"Good night! Drive safe!" with that he closed the door.
He then cleaned the mess and dialed his Ammi to tell that he has shifted to the new house. After that he prepared a mug of coffee and settled himself in the balcony. It was already midnight and the streets were deserted. The adjacent villa had still lights in one room, the room dead opposite to his balcony. He could easily see varied things in that room. He then suddenly saw a woman sitting beside the bed and hugging her knees. Her face wasn't clear; he stood up from his couch to get a better view. As he saw the girls face, he was spellbound.
Well you would surely be spell bound if your neighbor is none other than the girl, for whom you had developed a strange feeling on your first sight itself.
