Chapter 4
***After 6 months***
As the just married Asad and Jenny entered into the auditorium for their reception, there was loud applause everywhere. They were looking stunning, their outfits complimenting each other. Everyone settled in their tables as one by one people started raising toast to the couples. Then came the turn of Humeira. She gulped down the glass of wine kept in front of her and gracefully walked towards the podium while Ayaan and other friends wolf-whistled.
"Hi everyone, we are here on the occasion of marriage reception of Asad and Jenny, a couple in love. I have a wedding present for them, a video compiling their beautiful moments in love. I hope you guys like it."
The lights got dimmed and the projector started running. Everyone's eyes were glued to that screen.
First came a clip of all the friends together in a football field posing for a photo. Ayaan was making weird faces while Imraan was chasing him. Asad was looking at Jenny intently who was speaking to Nikhat.
Next came a video of Asad and Jenny holding their hand and walking while Ayaan and Imraan were teasing them.
Seeing this video, Asad held Jenny's hand and dropped a kiss while Jenny shied away a little.
Third video showed Asad proposing Jenny and Jenny accepting it by pulling him into a kiss. As the video continued, teasing erupted in the hall making the couple blush.
The fourth video was scandalous. It showed a half-naked Jenny making out with someone. Firstly everyone thought it was Asad, but it was not.
Silence prevailed in the hall. Only the moans and groans of Jenny and the guy could be heard. Suddenly the projector was off and the lights were on.
Everyone had their mouth wide open. Jenny was sweating buckets. Asad looked like a volcano ready to erupt.
There came Humeria's voice.
"Shocked, huh Asad? Why wouldn't you be? After all you have just seen your just married wife making out with someone..."
Asad got up angrily, pushing his chair he walked towards Humeria and towered over her menacingly.
"What the f**k Humeira? What the hell you were doing? How could you morph Jenny's face into a cheap video like that? How could you do this to us on our wedding day? What kind of a friend are you?"
She didn't flinch a bit. Instead she stood taller, looking eye to eye.
"You are such a fool Asad. Well, let me make some facts clear to you.
1. 1. I am not your friend, but I am your worst enemy.
2. 2. Whatever you have seen is true. Your darling and innocent Jenny's true face is this. She is having an affair with the guy in the video for past 7 years under your nose.
It's too bad that you didn't find out it till now. And this vide you have seen is from their secret rendezvous last night"
Asad was devastated listening to this. He was not ready to believe it. But soon Humeira flooded him with shocking evidences. He looked at Jenny. Her shame filled eyes and lowered head confirmed his worst fears. He let out a scream and started venting out his anger by destroying everything he saw. Ayaan and Imraan ran to him to keep him in control.
After a minute or so he looked at Humeira and asked.
"You knew this all along?
She nodded in confirmation.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier Humeira, why? Why did you wait till I marry her?"
She let out a menacing laugh shocking her friends.
"You are asking why. The answer is, because I loathe you. I despise you with my very being. I want to give you the biggest blow in your life. What could be the better punishment than to get married to the person you love and in the next minute coming to know that she was making you a fool for the 7 long years?"
Asad was taken aback by the hatred in her voice.
"Why Humeira? What did I do to deserve this?"
"What didn't you do? You made my best friend's life miserable. It today Zoya is not here, it's only because of you and your b***h"
The sadness in his eyes replaced with fury as he heard Zoya's name.
"How can you be so heartless Humeira? How can you spoil my life for that s**t?"
A loud slap echoed through the room sending everyone into shock. Asad stumbled a little but gained footing. His palm went to his cheeks as he looked at Humeira who was looking at him with fire spitting eyes.
"Mr. Asad Ahmed Khan, one more word about Zoya and I swear I will not hesitate to kill you. How dare you call her a s**t? That name should be given to your so called wife. Since it's the night of revelations, let me tell you some more truths. You always used to tell na, your Jenny is so dedicated towards you and she always stayed up late writing your notes, assignments and blah blah blah. You want to know the truth? It was Zoya who used to do that. She was the one who devoted her time for you while Jenny and the whole world slept. She trusted Jenny a lot but this conniving bitch backstabbed her. Poor Zoya never knew Jenny's double standards."
Humeira stopped to look at Asad. She was satisfied seeing his pained expressions.
"One more truth about your precious Jenny, do you remember the day 6 months back when you hurled insults at Zoya and threw her out of office accusing her of plotting to kill Jenny? Well, that was all a setup by Jenny to make you hate Zoya. If you are still not ready to believe it, you will find all the evidence in this envelope..."
She thrust the envelope into his shaking hands; she turned on her heels and walked away towards the door. Upon reaching the door, she turned and faced him for a last time.
"You may be thinking that I am so cruel. Yes, I am. But you and your b***h made me into this. You both hurt my best friend beyond repair. And now it's time for your punishment. Asad, now do you feel your life ebbing away from you slowly? Do you feel the excruciating pain of betrayal, humiliation and loneliness? That's the same pain my Zoya felt. Your pain is nothing in front of hers, nothing...And now I can be in peace knowing that I had given you the same pain... A pain to last for a lifetime..."
With that she walked away leaving a totally broken Asad behind...
