Surprised at your late appearance.😆😆😆

Just what is says: using sexuality to intimidate another. I don't know if it's a used term or not. I needed to describe what these Gul Khan heroes do, and the phrase came to mind.

Examples are listed in my original post. It's not just manhandling or physical aggressiveness but for a few seconds (if not longer) the hero does some action or advances in a way where you see the female is clearly worried that he will do something sexually.

Here it was more than sexual intimidation, it was also sexual retaliation (he didn't do it, but he still verbally stated his intent and it intimidated her). Then later when he set fire, he sexually intimidated her again by pinning her to the car and making it seem as though he would kiss her. At this point, I would say even that is romanticized because any girl right then would probably scream and try her hardest to fight back.

Anyway, arson and tit for tat is one thing. Being a bad boy who thinks he can be reckless and money will buy others is also fine. But they could've had the same result without him trying to force a kiss on her, and they didn't have to make that be the reason for him coming back and setting fire to the dhabba.

Yes, Sanam goes to slap him and he stops her so she slaps him with her other hand. Let him grab her and pull her, but his words of answering the slap with a kiss--it may seem fiery and passionate but it's answering violence with sexual intimidation which is much worse than a slap. Why romanticize such things? Not cool, Ms Khan. Not cool at all.

And this has been done earlier too. Another hero-heroine introduction started off with sexual intimidation through wardrobe malfunction, and yet another one had a similar instance with a slap blocked by the hero who then proceeded to intimidate her sexually by closing in for an angry kiss. Those are just two instances out of even more I can recall.

Excellent Post! I am horribly disappointed in Gul Khan's repeated attempts to degrade women. I have already expressed this on her previous shows and had hoped that this show would be different but the scene where he threatened to kiss her disgusted me. I do not care if the character is supposed to be a good looking guy or cocky, this is completely WRONG.

Guys who are confident and charming never have to use sexual intimidation to get their way; they also do not have to force a woman to like them - they have what you call - PERSONALITY. I would hope that Gul and her writing team would spend more time on this and show strength and power in their male lead without his need to bully and sexually intimate another woman.

Thank you!!! I am glad I am not alone in seeing this type of behavior and my congratulations to you for pointing it out.

The whole show now has a major echo to Gul's previous show, including the set. Sanam and Ahil remind me of the other couple. Some of the things happening are very much akin to those two. Not all, but some.

Ahil loves his mother and ASR loved his sister. He listened to her no matter what and Ahil appears to be the same. He kicked out that Simran chick just coz she said "why would anyone talk to their mum for so long"? Looks like on the subject of mum he is very touchy! Total mummy's boy. ASR was a mummy's boy too. He was haunted by mum's death and was struggling with her suicide daily. It also explained his character to a great extent! All hero's appear to be mummy's boys including Saras from the show Saraswatichandra who is still pining for his mum! Even Asad was a mummy's boy. Though he was a "shareef" boy, unlike Ahil!

So just like the "mummy's boy" is a recurring theme, Batameez boy or bad boy is a recurring theme too. It seems that THIS guy will take it to the limit and start declaring his "intent" to sexually assault or intimidate the heroine at the very outset. The others at least kept it in for awhile or just showed with their actions and didn't necessarily verbalise it! This guy is even verbalising it. Out of all of Gul's hero's that I have watched, this one is the most promiscuous and also uncaring of any conventions!

I want to see just how far this guy CAN go! From being a "purani shikari of the Gul jungle" I have LEARNT that I am wasting my breath telling her off about her male leads! No point! Yeh Gul Khabhi sunthi Nahin. Apni manmani karthi rehethi hain! Having said that I guess I will be up in arms again soon! Lol. Like when Asad slapped Zoya and the sound of that slap resonated on the forum. Same as when the ZOYAAN Nikah happened and eveyone accused Asad of "bartering" Zoya! So these controversies will just continue! Part of watching a Gul Khan show! Gul is addicted to her M & B heroes! She will never get out of it now! Let's stop expecting her to, and we will ALL enjoy ourselves more! I have learned to be "tongue in cheek" about these things now! To watch Gul's latest offering "Ahil", we are going to HAVE to develop a thicker skin! Be warned. This guy BURNS! :)

Excellent points - I hesitated to bring this up because the moderators are so fixated on bringing up incidents from previous shows, but here you just about have to highlight the pattern of unhealthy relationships she continues to show. And that slap issue was horrific and I had hoped they had learned but clearly they have not as I heard Asad raised his hand at Zoya at a later date. I am simply dreading what Gul has in store for us in later episodes.

My contention is not possessiveness or even the arson. My point of contention is how he was shown retaliating sexually. And my bigger issue with the arson is that it's in retaliation to his not being able to retaliate previously--which was of course a threat of sexual retaliation.

I hope you are not bullied away into speaking your mind about what you see. So what if nothing is ever done about it? You still put forward an opinion of what you did not like and you said it. And you CAN continue to watch the show and enjoy aspects of it. Overall the show is entertaining and keeps you interested; however, as a viewer you want to point out elements that bother you and you have done it. Now, does that mean the CVs will change; I doubt. However, you do not have a defeatist approach and are a speaker.

We want to send a message to the CVs and young impressionable young viewers who might not know better, this NOT acceptable and nor is it a turn-on.

I am pleased there are people who speak up and I will give you my support when I can!

Or, it might actually get someone to wake up. Even if it does not change anything, she has the right to express how she feels. RIght? 😉

TOTALLY NOT COOL..

i hope Ms Gul Khan you are not sending out the wrong message to young boys out there. we dont want kids to think ist cool to force themselves on girls. it may not be rape but it certainly sexual intimidation. and not cool

please have some responsibility Ms khan

More like the 1950s when men were rough and sexually bullish with women. We've had the women's liberation movement and even martial rape and sexual intimidation is no longer considered cool. She is sending the wrong message and she should stop it. She can make chemistry and hotness without a guy sexually bullying a young women. It is irresponsible. In the past Gul and her team took advantage of the horrific rape cases that plagued the nation and tried to show their liberated leads dressing how they wanted etc, but what Gul has failed to do it to try to show that a man is not appealing when he acts like a jerk and men cannot and do not turn on women this way...

Hey, Laila. 😃
Yup, the show is overall entertaining and there are many aspects that I like. But once again Gul inserts these sickening aspects into it in the name of chemistry and passion. The thing is, it wasn't even needed. They could've left out the things I am taking an issue with, and STILL have pretty much the same dynamic and story we have now.

He could've pulled her to him and let her go, leave angrily for slapping her,and then come back and burn the dhabba. Sure, burning the dhabba means he's a rich criminal .But I can understand that part of the characterization. He believes everyone can be bought off with money, and when she burns his car and throws the money back at him it's going against his thought that everyone has a price and can be bought off.

We will keep screaming and complaining, and Gul and these other channels and producers will never learn. However, we still will continue pointing it out when things needed to be criticized.

And no bullying issue here. I thought maybe I would stop watching, but I have yet to stop. I'm still watching. So as long as I'm watching you know I will always not hesitate to call things into question.
