I've always had these questions in my mind. A back story about Tanveer was required:

1) How did a girl staying in a decent area of Bhopal become a bazaroo aurat?
2) How did she become a nurse? 😆
3) How did she meet Imran?
4) How did she land up in the mental asylum after Asad threw her out of KV?
5) What the hell happened to her baby?

Of course I'd still hate her 😆. The CVs unfortunately didn't feel it was necessary to show some logical stuff and thought showing brutal murders would be loved by the audience for some reason. Or rather they love such brutality in the name of drama .

IF Cvs start giving answering all these questions and knowing their fondness for all things billi, the next 6 months will go only in giving Tannu back story.
What happens to the front story then?

For eg. Do serial killers have some life altering experiences in childhood? Do serial rapists have a different childhood from normal people?

Tanveer has been explained well in teh show.

She was a girl who stuck to Asad...someone who spent little time anywhere else...had no other friends.

She was a disturbed child for no reason...she succeeded in hiding her crimes as do all natural criminals...shayari was probably a veil to hide under...to seek attention from one male member she felt attracted to...

She moved out...typically the kind of girl who will stab a classmate for a pencil or eraser...as she grew, her criminal desires were given wings...she would not even hesitate from gouging out her own eye to frame someone...to exact revenge...

And she shed her inhibitions slowly and turned into a dreaded criminal..Billo Rani...silent, lethal...

She had liaisons with many men for sexual gratification...she openly drooled at men...as Imran mentioned...he was never sure the kid was even his...she had sex to trap him..realised he was not rich enough and went away...

She was recruited by Raziya...and Asad slowly became more than a prey..he became the object of her desires...and Tanveer would not let go until she was dead...

If she desired something, it had to be hers...she would kill and die for it...

Contrast her with Raziya...who did it all to save her mariage...her status..her husband's honour...her daughter's rights...she had a reason...so she might deserve forgiveness..

Not Tanveer...she is the devil Incarnate...she growls like a beast in the asylum...thirsts for blood..and nothing can satisfy her.

Not sure why everyone wanted more than this as a backstory for Tanver...she was quite clearly written for me..

http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-superhuman-mind/201212/the-making-serial-killer

"I didn't know what made people want to be friends. I didn't know what made people attractive to one another. I didn't know what underlay social interactions."

"I don't feel guilty for anything. I feel sorry for people who feel guilt."

"I'm as cold a motherf**ker as you've ever put your f**king eyes on. I don't give a shit about those people."

These creepy Ted Bundy quotes patently summarize the main traits of a psychopath: A callous, exploitive individual with blunted emotions, impulsive inclinations and an inability to feel guilt or remorse.

The causes of psychopathy remain a mystery. We don't even have a satisfactory answer to the question of whether psychopathy is a product of Mother Nature or a feature of upbringing. ...
research further if interested please...😳.. I mean, there are many articles...

I am curious - are you a PhD in psychology? If so, i would not be quoting Psychology Today as an academic article. It was a big NO-NO during my academic years in psychology. Second, there is NO officially diagnosis of psychopathy in an academic book DSM-V; this term is used very casually to refer to specific behaviors but is not a diagnosis in and of itself.

Your attempt to explain what is 'psychopathy" is horribly simplistic and naive. However, that i attribute to your lack of knowledge in the field of psychology, but your attempt to poke fun at me or my post for requesting that the writers provide us with a background behind Tanveer's behavior is wrong. While you have successfully managed to use your own vivid imagination to create your own, that does not negate the right for us as viewers to still expect it from the writers.

As a viewer we have a right for the writers, not your or your post to explain to us what factors lead to Tanveer's change in personality - after all - there were NO signs to suggest that Tanveer had any strange behaviors as a child or young adolescent to become a future "psychopath." We have no idea what happened to her family or HOW Razia recruited her...

Female serial killers are rare; so the rationale behind her behavior is even more intriguing. Of course we do not know what it the factor behind what promotes the behavior and while Ted Bundy might not have known what prompted him, as a an academician, you are supposed to study what factors may have contributed to his behavior. You fail to mention that Ted Bundy has a confused and disturbing childhood where he ended up hating his mother for failing to tell him she was HIS mother. You also fail to note the famous longitudinal study by Farington that found key environmental factors that contributed to "psychopathic behaviors" in adulthood - a key variant is that these individuals are often bullied by their peers. Like many behaviors it is a combination of genetics, environment and biochemical factors...to just suggest that "Tanveer was born this way' as your response suggests reeks of a lack of knowledge of this field.

Your argument that people are 'born this way" suggests that it is an inherited trait - if that is the case, then was Ted Bundy's father or mother or grandparents serial killers? If so, then why not? And if it is a nature issue, then were Tanveer's parents not serial killers?

My suggestion here is to show some respect to others and not make such assumptions about what is going on as a fact.

THANK YOU.

Please note: If you feel the need to continue argue your point based on your academic background, please do understand that I will not grace your comments with a further response. I have responded to your initial post and that is more than enough time spent on trying to explain to you Psychology 101. 😊😉

I absolutely agree with you - I still wonder, who was Zoya's mother and why she was never interested in finding out anything about her mother's family - I wondered if this new season would provide us with a storyline in this direction...was she an orphan and if so, how did she end up in the US?

Every storyline involves her. The show has become a bore with her.

Gosh G4W I completely forgot to reply to this. All I have to say is 👏. You always give logical stories and explanations and the CVs don't even know the definition of logic. They only know the definition of Tannu 😆.

My dear Laila,

Looks like we both learned psychology quite some time back..and I can assure U I did not learn even a tenth of what U did...because that was just a subject...I never majored in it...

Psychology Today ...is probably the easiest for a layman to understand...and that is why I quoted it, considering everyone who reads your post is not a Psych PhD like U...including poor ol' me...😳

And You, OF ALL PEOPLE should know that Psychiatry is an evolving science...there are many psychiatric disorders and psychic ocurrences that are not explained by science...

So then...here is your DSM V diagnosis simplified for my sake and others like me...

http://familyarrested.com/what-is-a-psychopath/

Again, this is not a medical journal, but I guess the references must be valid ones..not bothered to check up since the criteria sounds genuine...

Sometimes on Family Arrested people may refer to the offender in their lives as an "S-path" or sociopath or psychopath. What does that mean? Are they talking about serial killers?

The media equates the terms psychopath and sociopath to mean "serial killer" or someone like Charlie Manson or that Castro guy who kidnapped and held those three girls for over a decade in Cleveland, yet went right on living "normally" in the community without anyone suspecting he was such a horrible creature. Ted Bundy who killed more than 10 women was a psychopath and he lived in the community as a "normal" guy without anyone suspecting what he did at night. So how do you spot a psychopath, or a serial killer, or a killer who is just out to kill you, or just an offender who is not going to change for the better, at least not for long.

What psychologists or criminologists would call a "psychopath" today in the past may have been referred to as having "moral insanity" which I think is a pretty accurate description for two words to describe it. Essentially, the term is not even recognized by the medical and psychological community in their "diagnostic Bible" the DSM. "The term psychopath' has been dropped and some of the previously psychopathic traits are now included under Anti-social Personality Disorder."

Now to most lay people that might sound like someone was a hermit and anti-social, but to psychologists it means that the person lives a life against society's rules. In other words the person is an offender of either moral and/or criminal laws and is not likely to change for the better.

Not all people who break the law and end up in prison are psycho/socio-paths, but many do end up in prison and it is estimated by researchers that 25%, one in four, people convicted of a felony are psychopaths, and the other 75% of felony inmates are very high in the traits that make up a psychopath's problematic personality. This is why many if not most ex-convicts go back to prison after they are released.

Dr. Robert Hare, who is one of the most experienced researchers in psychopaths, who has studied them in prisons and other institutions for upwards of 40 years, and has written the book, Without Conscience and also developed the "Psychopath's Check List, Revised" which is the "Gold Standard" in criminal courts for determining if an offender meets the criteria for being a psychopath.

The qualities of a psychopath, as listed by Dr. Hare are:

  1. Glib and superficial charm
  2. Grandiose self worth
  3. Need for stimulation, prone to boredom
  4. Pathological lying
  5. Conning and manipulating
  6. Lack of remorse or guilt
  7. Shallowness of expressions
  8. Callousness, lack of empathy
  9. Parasitic lifestyle
  10. Poor behavioral controls
  11. Promiscuous sexual behavior
  12. Early behavioral problems such as lying, fire setting, stealing etc.
  13. Lack of realistic long term goals
  14. Impulsivity
  15. Irresponsibility
  16. Failure to accept responsibility for own actions
  17. Many short term marital relationships
  18. Juvenile delinquency, crimes and acting out between the ages of 13-18
  19. Revocation of Conditional Release
  20. Criminal versatility

The bottom line on psychopaths (by whatever name you call them) is that they have no true remorse for the things they have done, the hurt they do to others, or the laws they break. They may be good at pretending and saying they have remorse, but the bottom line is that they don't change their behavior for long, and that the pretense of remorse is simply to convince the person they are trying to con that they have "changed""but then they end up right back in prison again, or they cheat again, or lie again, or emotionally or physically abuse their loved ones again and again and again.

Am pretty sure Dr. Hare's criteria are similar to DSM V...

As a viewer we have a right for the writers, not your or your post to explain to us what factors lead to Tanveer's change in personality - after all - there were NO signs to suggest that Tanveer had any strange behaviors as a child or young adolescent to become a future "psychopath." Ha! Thats a nice way of ending a argument...So I will end with this too..I told U there r many articles...as A Psychology expert, it is your responsibility to dish out more stuff on what has NOT BEEN UNDERSTOOD CLEARLY BY RESEARCH...and since Tanveer satisfies most criteria for Psychopath by whatever name DSM Vcalls her...I think the creatives are justified in creating a FICTIONAL CHARACTER OF SORT...

Seriously, U want to nit pick...there are so many loopholes in the show! But this! I think U have not watched the show..U surely ff ed thru Tanveer or simply missed many many episodes ..can't blame U too...

As FOR YOUR pSYCHOLOGY 101...I EXPECTED BETTER!😳 But OK..U made me look up DSM..which I found quite boring😃..though I do get it is a Psychiatrist's Bible... So thank U!

😉😊 Don't worry... I totally get U!😆

And DO READ UP Genetic Vs Congenital Vs Inherited/ Familial...for your own good...😳

And seriously! U want more of Tanveer! As if U did not have enough of cheating and lying and conniving and leching! 😲 Or U missed all that conveniently? I know..I am not getting an answer...😃😆

LIke I said, I am not going to exhaust my time reading your post. Like you said, you have no background in psychology but insist on educating me...feel free to talk to the wind. Have a great day.
