Qubool Hai | BTS | Haider Pleads With Gaffur
The scene where we see an interesting undercurrent and of course underhandedness of Haider Shaikh (Mohit Sehgal) in his dealing with Gaffur Ahmed Siddiqui (Tej Sapru) in Qubool Hai is something that would make one start thinking about human nature. While it might seem a tad bit unlikely that a person standing not so far way cannot hear the words spoken between two people, especially when one wants to know what is happening; it is possible. Why?
We have a theory (of course, we always do). Its been some time since we told you about our round table square discussions. Well, this particular scene perhaps made us evaluate how human mind works and yes, we are amateur psychologists. Alright, alright, we won't go so far.
Back to the theory. We believe that when someone wants to hear or see something, they tend to hear and see just that. Humeira in this case is pre-conditioned to believe that Haider is going to plead with her father for her hand so what is actually being said between the two is immaterial to her, as she is only waiting for the conclusion and hope of knowing that all is well.
That is why perhaps she ran away the minute she realized things are not going as she hoped.
Have you seen this happen ever? We of course, talked about similar situations. For e.g. when one has a crush on someone, one tends to stare obliquely at the person (of course, one believes that no one can make that out) and because one believes the other person likes us, we tend to look for signs of the same. A slight smile, a returned look are gestures we presume are reciprocal of one's feelings. Lord behold if that person is talking to someone and happens to look at one, we would obviously assume the person is talking about one.
Do you think pre-conceived notions lead to misunderstandings? Would Humeira want to marry the man she believes went to plead to her father if she really knew what they spoke about? They say eavesdroppers never hear good about themselves. Do you concur?
Shall we discuss?
