Congratulations on new thread,

I think that once they meet, they should sit down and talk to each other about what they've done in their lives, like a catch up, and at first its awkward but then they start getting comfortable and he finds out its not her getting married and they develop a liking towards each other more...then continue from there

NO weird twists

I think doing exaggerated twists in which it takes the leads a long time to get together and they always get separated are boring and a waste of time, after they meet I think you should concentrate on shaping their relationship.
