I loved the Zoya-Humaira scene today.
For Humaira, Ayaan leaving her and not loving her enough is perhaps the worst thing that has happened. She has lived a happy, secure and loved life. She has a set of parents who would do anything for her, and have done as well. She has had sisters who were her best friends, an annoying but protective guy who was so special to her. A family who loves her, a comfortable and very luxurious life.
Ayaan's nikaah and then him leaving is a disruption in her life. For a girl who has never had hard times in her life, it is unbearable for her to take in all these blows at once. She has no understanding of pain of this degree and hence is totally unequipped to deal with it and she has chosen the only way she thinks is best - ignore the pain, ignore the emotions, ignore everything.
Here is where I think Zoya can be very important (i really hope the show utilities this potential track)
Zoya has had the worst of it all. Lost her parents, physical trauma, emotional trauma, scars that would never let her forget what happened, no siblings to share her laughs and tears with. She is in a country she barely understands. Multiple attacks, forced wedding(s), buried alive, thrown off a cliff, public humiliation, and what not!
But she is a survivor and she deals with everything that her life has thrown at her. I think Zoya-Humaira bonding over loss and pain is great track. Humaira needs someone who tells her that this is not the end, that pain is a part of life and we have to live with it. There cannot be a better person than Zoya to maker her understand that.
Humaira Begum, you share Zoya Farooqui's DNA, so you don't buckle, run away or turn your back at the pain, you suck it up!
