PART 10

Zoya and Rehaan walked into the head office, and walked into their conference room where the team had laid out all the evidences and theories. They had found many things, out of which they had learned that Gaffur Siddique had been married before too. They had found a contract, a half of marriage certificate and adoption papers. Zoya was shocked when she went over these, the contract was a will that stated that Zeeshan Farooqui's [Zoya's grandfather] property will be handed over to his granddaughter Zoya Siddique and that the guardian of the property will be Zainab Siddique, until Zoya comes of age. But there was also a clause that said that if Zainab died, Gaffur would get the property as he was Zoya's father. She dropped the papers, and found it hard to stay on her feet. Rehaan held her. This was too much to take for her, not only had she found her dead mother, but now she found out that her biological father might have killed her mother. The marriage certificate was of Zainab Farooqui, and Gaffur Siddique, and the adoption papers were of Zoya's adoption; but they were signed by Razia Siddique. Rehaan found it weird, but he knew Zoya wouldn't be able to read this so he called Suhana and asked her to take Zoya to Appi and Jeeju's place.

But Zoya was adamant, she asked to recheck the gudiya factory, and look back at the evidences found from the factory. Zoya and a team that had gone out for the search, looked again. One of the members found the knife buried underneath the burnt doll shelves, when asked the forensic department they said they could get the partial prints off of it. The knife was taken into custody to check. Unfortunately the print wasn't large enough to identify the person, but they did find a hair stuck to the handle and they processed it. Turned out, that it did infact belong to Razia Siddique, clearly stating that she had killed Zainab Siddique 21 years ago. At this point, Zoya was asked to stay at the office as Rehaan and the team would get the people involved in the case. Rehaan made it very clear to everyone that Zoya was not to get out of anybody's sight and if she did, they were to call him immediately. He know that Zoya was on the verge of breaking down, he wanted to stay with her but at this moment he needed to avenge her tears and scars before he comforted her.

After getting strict instructions, the officers had surrounded the Siddique Mansion. They walked in, lead by Rehaan Farooqui. He looked poised, serious and furious. "Assalaam Walikum," he roared, scaring everyone, they all tried to smile but his face made them serious. "I'm here to arrest Gaffur and Razia Siddique for the charge of murder of Zainab Siddique, Gaffur Siddique is also charged with fraud and for stealing, and lastly, I would like to arrest Rashid Ahmed Khan for arson and being associated with the murder." Everybody was shocked. "Ye kya bakwaa.." "BAS," Rehaan screamed, his eyes full of anger, "you want me to tell them what you did? Fair enough." He looked at the others and stood in the center, and said, "21 years ago, Zeeshan Farooqui, my great uncle, married his one and only daughter, Zainab Farooqui to Gaffur Ahmed Siddique. They even had a daughter, Zoya Farooqui." He heard gasps, and continued, "Zeeshan Farooqui had named all of his property in Zoya's name, and made his own daughter the guardian. But if in any case Zainab Farooqui died before Zoya came of age, Mr. Siddique would become the guardian. Mr. Siddique was already married when he got engaged to Razia, and they had planned to take all of the Farooqui money and keep it for themselves. At this time Zainab and Zoya had moved to New York, when Zoya was three, her mother brought her back to India to look for Gaffur as she hadn't heard from him in years, only to find out that he was married and that his wife was pregnant." He looked at Humeira who was silently crying in Haider's arms. "Razia couldn't swallow the idea of being the second woman, so she killed Zainab by stabbing her. Later, her and Gaffur asked Rashid Khan to burn the Gudiya Factory, they didn't tell him why. But he went and did it anyway, he didn't fail to see that he had accidentaly burned a women along with a child in the factory." He laughed bitterly as he said, "I guess Razia still had some humanity in her that she saved Zoya from the fire after she heard her cries. She set her up for adoption, and Gaffur conveniently started his own company with Rashid, Rashid-Siddique Constructions." He looked at his torn Phoophi and said, "Rashid Sahib didn't leave you for money, he left because Razia threatened him to reveal the fact that he had commited a murder, and forced him to live with Shireen Khan." "What proofs do you have?!" asked Gaffur, "I have enough to be able to get an arrest warrant in your names, do you really think I wouldn't be thorough about this? Do you really think I'd leave the chance of throwing the one person who's responsible for my Zoya's tears?" Gaffur gasped, and asked, "Zo..Zoya meri beti hai?" Rehaan had had enough, he didn't bother answering, and simply nodded to the two other officers and walked over to him with handcuffs, and said, "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to be speak to an attorney, and to have an attorney present during any questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be provided for you at government expense." Handcuffed, he took Razia, Gaffur Siddique and Rashid Khan to the police van.

Zoya was breaking everything that she saw and crying bitterly. She had shut herself up in the apartment. She couldn't believe that all this had happened for money. She couldn't understand why a husband would willingly try and kill his wife and child. How could a person be so heartless? So vile? So disgusting? She couldn't stand the fact that her father was the person who had ruined her Phoopi's and Asad's lives. It was her father who had caused so much harm and for what? Some money? She couldn't stand the fact that his blood was coursing through her veins. She couldn't stand the fact that she was a seed of that evil man. She simply didn't think it was worth living anymore. So she broke, she broke everything. She wanted to inflict herself with all the pains that her father had given to Asad, so she kept hurting herself. She let the glass pieces on the floor pierce through the soles of her feet. She felt the edge of the vase cut the skin of her palms.

Suhana called Rehaan, and sobbed on the phone, "Z..Zoya..Rehaan..Zoya ko ..." and she kept crying, she couldn't stand to see her friend like this. She was locked out, all she heard was Zoya crying, screaming and breaking stuff. Hearing Suhana cry, Rehaan was shocked, "KYA SUHANA? KYA HUWA ZOYA KO? TUM KUCH BOLTI KYUN NAHIN?!" At this point Asad, who had been trying to console his mother while wondering where Zoya was, got up and ran towards Rehaan. "WHO LET HER OUT OF THE OFFICE?! WHAT THE HELL. WHY COULDN'T YOU TAKE CARE OF HER SUHANA UGH F**K." He was crying at this point, he looked at Asad and merely whispered, "..Zoya.." Asad knew he had to be strong and pulled Rehaan with him to the car, Ayaan and Haider followed. They knew that the family was shocked, but the person this affected the most was Zoya and she needed them.

"ZOYA, ZOYA, OPEN THE DOOR ZOYA" they heard Suhana screaming as they made it to her floor. Without a second thought Asad broke the door open, and was shocked. Everything was broken, the vases, the chairs, the tables, there was glass everywhere. What left Asad shaken was when he saw blood in the glass. "Zoya.." he ran to look for her in the apartment, along with everyone. Asad found Zoya in the bathroom with cuts and bruises all over her, and she was crying into her palms that had a photo in them. Her state made Asad cry, he couldn't believe that all this had happened to her. He didn't want to scare her, so he slowly put a hand on her shoulder. She flinched and looked up to see Asad standing there with tears in his eyes. Asad saw the photo, it was of him, Phoopi and Najma. Before he could say a word, Zoya had fainted in his arms.

Zoya was taken to the hospital because she was weak and bleeding profusely from all the cuts. Everyone had showed up to the hospital. Haider had gone to Humeira who was breaking down, her father and her mother had hurt so many people, she couldn't understand why they would do something like that. Ayaan watched on as he saw Humeira in Haider's arms. He wanted to be the person holding her, but he knew he had lost his chance, so he turned his back towards them and focused on his brother and Dilshad Bi.

Dilshad bi couldn't stop crying, finally she was with her husband and she had found out that he was a part of this heinous crime. She couldn't help but cry for Zoya, a little girl who had been brought into her house like a breath of fresh air, who had made her son smile, a girl who had provided her with all the support she could get as a daughter. A girl who had been betrayed and abandoned so many times, yet managed to carry on smiling and staying strong. She couldn't believe that Asad's abandonment would cause Zoya to risk her life. She couldn't believe that a person could love someone this much, she knew that Zoya was not at fault for Rashid's imprisonment because Zoya was her daughter, and she wouldn't let this incident change anything. She couldn't lose Zoya again, and now that she had learnt that Zoya was in the hospital, she had ran in to make sure that her daughter was okay. She hoped that Zoya knew that she would still love her, regardless of whose daughter she is.

Anwar had come to the hospital, Suhana was asked to stay with Zeenat and Najma, as they were pregnant. They were unaware of the situation, as the stress could affect their babies. He walked in to see everyone tensed, and then his eyes fell upon Rehaan and Asad who were sitting like statues. He knew what Zoya meant for both of them, and he understood as he was in the same position. He slowly walked upto the window to see his bacchi linked to tubes and bottles, doctors hovering around her. He was in tears, he had always prayed to Allah to make sure he never had to see his daughter like this ever again. But here he was, in the same spot as he was 2 and half years ago, praying that Zoya survives.

Asad understood Zoya's turmoil, he knew that she had a fear of his rejection. He knew she was more affected by the fact that her biological father had hurt Asad's family along with murdering her mother. He couldn't help but feel like killing Gaffur, and Razia; they were responsible for Zoya's misery. He wanted them to be destroyed completely, he would make sure that they never get to see the outside world as long as he was alive. At this moment, he knew that he loved Zoya a lot and that his love trumped over the hatred he had for Gaffur. He would never resent Zoya because of who her father was. He knew he would never taunt her about her blood, he couldn't lose his Zoya over the fact that she was Gaffur's daughter. He wanted to tell her, but he was scared, because his father was partially involved in this case. He hoped that Zoya would be able to forgive him for being his father's son. He knew that Zoya had a big heart, but he was still afraid of looking into her eyes and finding disgust and anger. He was also afraid that his mother might not be too happy about sending Rashid away, but his heart knew better, he knew that the love that his mother and his Zoya shared was like no other. He knew that his mother would make the same decision as him, to accept and love Zoya forever.

Rehaan was scared, not only for Zoya's life, but her life ahead. He turned and looked at Asad, he built up the courage, and asked, "..so?" Asad looked at him, when he saw his expression, he knew what Rehaan was thinking about. "So I hope that once Zoya is discharged, she'll be mine," Asad replied with confidence, he saw Rehaan smile a little, "ShukarAllah, thank you." Rehaan was in tears and he hugged Asad. When Asad had said that Zoya will be his, Dilshad bi felt her heart swell with pride, she walked upto the two men and touched their heads. She looked at Rehaan and smiled said, "Zoya mein hamesha se hi meri jaan basi hai, she will always be a part of this family, she's my daughter. Now I can't wait to make her my bahu." Anwar and Rehaan sighed with relief, they looked at one another and gave each other a knowing look. They couldn't believe that their Zoya was loved so much by this family, they were happy that Zoya was lucky enough to receive this love.

The doctor walked out and saw everybody rise with questioning looks, he asked, "...for Miss Farooqui?" they all nodded, "She's okay, she's just tired and asleep. We have shifted her to a normal ward on this floor. The cuts were not that deep, and won't leave a scar. You can discharge her and take her home tomorrow morning." Everyone was glad to hear this, Asad asked if he could see her, when the doctor said yes. He walked to her room and sat by her. Asad held her hand and said, "I love you for who you are, not where you came from. For me you're Anwar Jeeju and Zeenat Aapi's daughter, and Rehaan's princess. You're my life Zoya, and regardless of what that scoundrel did to me, you should've known I'd never hold it against you. I love you and I'm so sorry that you had to go through so much in your life, but I promise you that once you get better, I'll protect you from everyone and everything that could hurt you. I will love you forever, meri jaan." And with that, he kissed her forehead, and her hand; he rested his head on their entwined hands and fell asleep. This scene was witnessed by everyone else, who looked at the two lovers with tears in their eyes. They were proud of Asad who had accepted Zoya despite her background, and happy that Zoya will finally get the love of a family, and a loving husband; something that she deserves.

Awesome update. So finaly the past is revealed. The way u brought zoya's pain by your writing is amazing. Poor girl hope now her life is better and full with happiness and love. Love the way dilshad acpt her as her daughter. I love her decision. Love asad's acknowledgement for zoya that he love her because for him she is anwar and zeenat's daughter. Just love the update.
