Okay this part was supposed to be longer, but something came up suddenly so I cut it somewhere in the middle and am posting it here before leaving. Here you go!
Yes Boss: Part 18 Asad kept his arm securely around Zoya's waist as he guided her off the bicycle at the main door of Dilshaad Constructions. He proceeded to brush Zoya's wind-tossed hair backwards a little, trying to bring some semblance of order to it, while Zoya reached forward to straighten Asad's collar and coat. It was only when they heard the awkward clearing of someone's throat that they both pulled away from each other.
"Yeh bicycle mere car ki parking space mein rakhdo," Asad ordered the evidently embarrassed security guard, who nodded quickly and then dragged the bicycle away obediently. He turned back to find Zoya hurrying off into the building without waiting for him. He ran his hand through his hair as he walked behind her slowly, thoughts of Zoya's body pressing against his throughout the bicycle ride running through his mind unabashedly.
Asad shook his head a little to clear his thoughts as he entered the doors, just to find a bunch of his staff members standing remarkably close to the door as they talked to each other, while Monica looked at him from the reception area with a look of pure amusement dancing across her face. A few of them began scurrying back to their desks as Asad took a few more steps in, making him roll his eyes openly. As he was about to enter his cabin, he saw Anu come out of Vijay's cabin with Zoya in tow, walking urgently towards her own cabin. Asad closed his cabin door and cut out the drama from outside before turning to the model of RK Mall. He removed his coat and dumped it on his chair, rolling up his sleeves as he did. He had better things to do than deal with mindless gossip.
"Zoya, yeh sab kya hai? Now people are going to talk even more," Anu told Zoya disappointedly as she sat her down in front of her desk. Zoya bit her lower lip sadly as she tried to find her voice to explain herself. Anu was right. The mess had become even bigger now. But before she could address Anu, her cabin door was rudely burst open.
"Hey Anu, is Asad around?" a sophisticated-looking young man entered Anu's cabin without warning. Zoya watched him with narrowed eyes as Anu nodded and told the man to find Asad in his cabin.
"That's Mr Vinod Mehta, the vice president," Anu's measured answer came without being asked, as Zoya turned back to her with a question mark on her face. Zoya nodded, although confusion was still very evident on her face.
"How come I haven't seen him around the past whole week?" Zoya finally asked, unable to contain her growing curiosity as she watched Anu squirm uncomfortably, quite obviously telling her half the story.
"Zoya, I don't think it's my place to say anything, but I know you won't let me go unless I say something. I don't really know the whole story, but I'll just tell you the little I've gathered. Mr Vinod Mehta's father, Mr Hemant Mehta, was the original vice president of Dilshaad Constructions, and he'd been working alongside Mr Khan since the time this company was founded. Six months ago, Mr Hemant Mehta passed away, and the next thing we knew, Mr Vinod Mehta was made vice president. He hadn't spent a single day in Dilshaad Constructions before his father's death, so no one knows why Mr Khan appointed him. Even now, despite being vice president, he hardly ever turns up at the office, coming only to meet Mr Khan for short periods of time and then walking back out. None of the staff ever interacts with him either, and I seriously doubt he does any work," Anu passed the information to a very puzzled Zoya. She nodded, thanking Anu for letting her know as she fell into deep thought herself. What's the deal with that?
"Asad! Mera pyaara bhai! Yeh sab kya hai?" Vinod greeted as he walked into Asad's cabin without knocking, startling Asad who was concentrating on a part of the model. Asad turned to Vinod and returned his smile, before ushering Vinod to a chair. But Vinod ignored the gesture, choosing instead to stand near the model and admire it.
"It's for the RK Mall project that we just bagged," Asad replied proudly, as he watched Vinod inspect the model, taking a circle around the table that the model rested on. Vinod smiled as he patted Asad on the back, wordlessly praising his efforts.
"Ek glass pani milega?" Vinod asked, to which Asad nodded and turned away to the side table to pour Vinod a glass of water. He could hear Vinod scuffling around behind him as usual, and shook his head slightly. The man could never stay in one place, much less help out at work, so easily taken in by the smallest of things.
"Kaise aana hua Vinod? Waise accha hua tum aagaye, I need your signatures on some papers," Asad informed Vinod, finally managing to pull him away from the model and sit down at the table. Asad quickly scanned the model while Vinod busied himself with the papers, checking to make sure Vinod didn't do anything to it.
"This is why I came, Asad. I knew you'd surely have some work with me but you never tell me anything, so I just turned up myself," Vinod answered laughingly, as he returned the papers to Asad. Asad quickly flipped through them to check if the signatures were in place before smiling at Vinod in response.
"Accha, aur kuch hai? If not I'll make a move," Vinod asked, as he stood up from the chair to walk towards the model again, genuinely impressed by it. Asad shook his head and Vinod finally pried himself away from the model to walk out of the cabin, waving at Asad as he left. Asad waved back before resuming his work on the model, planning to get as much work done as possible before lunch.
