Zoya grit her teeth as Asad closed his bedroom door on her face after dinner the next day as well. He'd spent the entire of Saturday annoying her by avoiding her on purpose just because she said she had something to tell him. Dilshaad and Najma hadn't really tried to help either, finding immense amusement in just watching their pointless squabble. And to think Asad kept calling her childish.

Shoulders slumped, Zoya walked back to her own room, before collapsing on her bed and staring at the ceiling. She could hear Dilshaad and Najma switch the television off outside and retire to their respective rooms, the hall lights switched off as well. A slow smile began to form on her face. She slid off her bed and walked out determinedly.

Zoya brushed a leaf off her leg as she crawled through the balcony outside of Asad's window, and then slowly placed her fingers on the window ledge once she'd reached, using that as support to pull herself up to her knees, just enough for her eyes to come in line with the bottom of the window. She peeped into Asad's room, and then quickly covered her mouth to stifle her involuntary gasp.

Asad stood shirtless in front of his bed, tying the string of his pajama. Zoya thanked her lucky stars for not coming any earlier than that. She knew she should've just looked away immediately, but she found herself unabashedly watching Asad bend down and pick his kurta up, slipping it over his head before doing up the bottom two buttons.

Once he was fully dressed, Zoya began to stand up, deciding that it was a good time to barge in and speak to him about the office gossip. But before she could, Asad switched off his bedroom light, and then turned to the bathroom, disappearing into it as he shut the door behind him. Zoya pouted disappointedly as she stood outside the window, staring at the sliver of light escaping through the bottom of the bathroom door. But the pout was quickly replaced by another slow smile, as another idea struck her. He was having the time of his life annoying her, so now it was payback time!

Zoya quickly climbed into Asad's through the window, scrambling across the green settee to get on her feet. She walked around the room quietly, looking for a good place to hide. She'd give him a good scare by suddenly popping out of her hiding place once he came out of the bathroom.

The bathroom handle began to turn while Zoya stood next to the wardrobe, startling her a little. Unable to come up with a better plan at that point, Zoya dove for the bed, hiding under the covers, leaving only a small gap to keep an eye on Asad. Asad walked out with his towel covering his face as he wiped it, walking over towards the window obliviously. He hung his towel neatly on the rack there before turning to his bed, taking steps towards it.

Zoya willed herself to pop out from under the covers at that point and scream to give him a good fright, but found her insides turning to jelly as she chickened out at the very last minute. She watched Asad turn his back towards her as he sat down on his side of the bed, before pulling his legs up and settling his head on his pillow, facing the window. Zoya held her breath, keeping herself from making even the slightest movement while waiting for Asad's breathing to even out. Once it did, she'd slip out of the covers and leave without being noticed.

A few minutes passed, and Asad's breathing did become more uniform, so Zoya began to shift her legs towards the side of the bed, in preparation to make a run for it. As soon as her feet touched the ground, she felt the mattress below her sink, as Asad shifted around. She stilled again, her head now facing away from him, leaving her literally in the dark' about whether he'd seen her or not. Another painstakingly slow minute passed without any movement from Asad, so Zoya decided he might not have noticed her after all. She lifted her upper body off the bed in a swift movement, but before she knew it, her body was slammed back down.

"Kaun hai?!" Asad growled, his voice heavy with sleep as he pinned the intruder down on his bed with his body. He'd managed to grab the intruder's flailing arms and lock them in a tight grip at the wrists above her head, realizing from the width of the wrist that it was a girl. With his free hand, he reached for his bedside lamp and flicked it on, just to be greeted with the face of an extremely terrified Zoya, her mouth slightly open, poised to scream.

"Mmfph," was all that Zoya managed, as Asad's hand clamped down on her mouth before she could actually scream. She struggled under his weight for a while, hoping he'd release her, but from the grim look on his face, she realized he was just waiting for her to calm down. So she finally stopped fighting him, relaxing her body and face. As she'd predicted, he removed his hand from her mouth seconds later.

"Aap yahan kya kar rahi ho?" Asad asked simply, as he released her wrists from his grip as well. Zoya lowered her arms to Asad's shoulders, bunching the fabric there in her palms as she caught her breath. Asad supported his weight over her body with his elbow, as he patiently waited for her to get a grip of herself.

"Main uh, aapse... aapko... I came here to scare you damn it, as revenge for avoiding me the whole of today," Zoya whined, punching his shoulders slightly in frustration. Asad didn't move though, he continued staring her with his ridiculously straight face.

"And what you accomplished was me scaring you? This is why revenge is never a good thing Miss Farooqui. Waise bhi, I didn't know my not speaking to you would feel like punishment to you," Asad teased, his sleep-ridden voice sounding even sexier than usual. Zoya let go of his shoulders suddenly, turning away as she rolled her eyes. Asad hid his grin as he began to lift himself off of Zoya, but Zoya's arms found their way back to his shoulders, stopping him again.

"Ek minute. Main aapse actually koi aur baat karne aayi thi, scaring you was just a side job. I may not have accomplished that, lekin yeh baat toh ab main karke hi jaaoongi. Mr Khan, aap jaante hai office main sab humare baare mein kya kya baatein karte hai? There're speculating that the two of us are in a relationship!" Zoya revealed dramatically, all her intonations in place just for effect. To her surprise, Asad remained unfazed as ever.

"You think?" Asad finally asked, as he looked down at her arms encircling his neck now, his eyes then trailing back to hers where their faces were inches apart. Zoya felt blood rush to her cheeks as she quickly removed her arms and pushed Asad off her body. He complied easily, flipping his body back to his side of the bed as Zoya sprung up into sitting position.

"Aap... aapko abhi bhi mazaak hi sooj raha hai? I'm serious! This is a serious matter!" Zoya insisted, as she pulled her legs towards her body to sit cross-legged next to Asad, who was still casually lying on his side, not a care in the world.

"Miss Farooqui, frankly, I don't give two hoots about this. Dekhiye, an office is like high school, but with adults. You have best friends, cliques, bullies... and of course rumours. As long as the rumours don't ruin your life, then let it be! If you keep letting everything get to you, then I don't see how you're going to be able to keep your sanity intact. Oh wait, your sanity already doesn't exist... so I guess intact rehne ka sawaal hi nahi uttha," Asad replied calmly, turning to his side to face Zoya, propping his head up by resting his elbow on his pillow.

"Par..." Zoya began to argue, trailing off as she thought about what he was saying. It was true; she'd made a best friend in Anu, a clique with Anu and Monica, as well as found a bully in Vijay. She even noticed that Prasad spent his lunchtime with the same two or three people, so he probably had his own clique too.

Zoya snapped out of her thoughts and turned to Asad to continue her argument, but she found him turned away from her, snoring gloriously. She punched his back in irritation before sliding off the bed, quick to catch the soft chuckle as she did. Pretending to sleep, huh?

"The rumours are ruining my life because it's with YOU Mr Akdu Ahmed Khan," Zoya put in the last word, as she rolled her eyes and walked out of the room. It was fine if Asad didn't want to do anything about the rumours, she'd just have to think of something herself.
