This isn't going the way I planned but hopefully you guys enjoy thisss! I hope the future twists don't shock you tooo much!
I watched Beintehaa the other day, omg the guy is called Zain and the sister is called Ayaat. WHY HAVE THEY STOLEN MY FUTURE BABIES NAMES FOR? *cries* LOOOL!
ANYHOO, Lemme know whatcha think! MWAH! (22 PAGES OF UPDATE GUYS, I THINK I'M TOO NICE!)

P.S. wrote this on my phone and skimread on the laptop whilst doing some uni work. Please ignore all the mistakes beautifuls!

Chapter Seven

'Psssttt, hey you there, can you hear me?' He waited for her voice, he heard her yawn.

'Who are you?' She asked,

'I'm your other half, the voice said I'm called Ahsaan. And you are Ayaat. Or maybe it's the other way round' He sounded confused,

'Where are you? Why can't I see you?' She searched,

'I'm glued to you' He replied,

'Don't worry I'll take care of youuu' They heard the voice. They both hmmm'd in unison as the voice rubbed their belly.

'Woahh'

'What happened?' Ahsaan spoke worried,

'There's something beating inside of me' Ayaat replied giggling,

'Hawww, you love the voice tooo' Ahsaan laughed cutely,

'Hmmm' Ayaat spoke dreamily.

'Ammi loves you both.'

'Ahsaan, the voice is called Ammi. And she loves us too' She spoke surprised,

'I know. I heard her say that every time she feeds us. Listen, can you hear her laugh? Doesn't she sound amazing?'

'Yeeeaahhh'

'Ayaat, I've been here longer than you. Ammi and this other voice said we will both have to get out. I will go check it out first to make sure it's safe'

'You would do that for me?' Ayaat whispered, scared.

'Ammi said I love you the most. We are both one, we are connected. I will always keep you safe. Because we don't have Abbu'

'Who's Abbu?' Ayaat asked,

'I don't know. Ammi's voice goes weird.' Ahsaan frowned.

'Ahsaan, promise me you'll wait for me?'

'I promise. You know that thing beating, it will keep beating and you'll know I'm still here.'

'Ammi has gone to sleep, don't call home' Zoya came out of her room to find Asad on his knees sell-o-taping some of the boxes. He looked up with wide eyes to find her standing on her feet. She took slow steps towards him while he tried getting onto his feet. His lips parted but no words came out, tears flowed from his eyes finally holding her arms. She nodded at him, trying to stop her tears.

'You can walk' He whispered, she laughed at his words punching his chest.

'Of course I can. You have no idea how good I feel. Slow steps, but I just-' Asad pecked her lips instantly stopping her from speaking. She kissed him back before he kissed her cheeks and forehead. He hugged her tight; she smiled into his chest cuddling the life out of him. Zoya's hand loosened as her stomach started pinching her slightly; she blinked it away before her eyes fell on a few tapes lying on the table. She looked above her to find Ayaat's picture dangling loose on the wall. She let Asad go and walked over towards the wall, her fingers went over Ayaat's face,

'Ouchhh' She winced as the glass cut her slightly.

'Zoya, what happened?' Asad moved forward and held her shoulders. He took her bleeding finger and put it into his mouth, sucking the blood from it. His thumb brushed over the slight cut as Zoya watched him lovingly. She placed her hand in his removing that specific picture from the wall. She looked over his shoulder before pulling him towards the table. She picked up the tape labelled 'pregnancy'. She held it front of him whilst his eyes took in the writing.

'We'll watch it tomorrow, together, I don't feel too great today' Zoya stared at Ayaat's picture but her heart was yearning for something else.

'Do you want me to call a doctor?' Asad asked placing her on the sofa. She shook her head,

'I have some medicines in my draws. Could you please get them for me?' Zoya leaned back against the sofa staring at the wall full of pictures. She held her stomach; her heart was beating faster than ever. She could feel a storm inside her as her chest burned with anxiety.

'Where's Ayaat?' Asad asked her walking towards the room,

'I sent her out with Zain' She lied, 'I have asked him to keep her away from both the houses' She sighed, her eyes went over the clock on the wall.

'You did what?' Asad turned around, 'you should've just asked me to-'

'First of all Asad, nothing ever remains in your stomach. And secondly she will be inconsolable if she finds out we have planned something for her. The room's done, furniture will come tomorrow.' She closed her eyes, tears escaping her eyes. She jerked forward and wiped her tears, she stared at her wet fingers. She snapped out of her thoughts as Asad dropped her phone on the sofa. He held a glass of water in front of her with her medicine. She took it from his hands and gulped it down. She looked up slowly to find Asad in the same position staring down at her; he brought a blue wrapped box in front of her. Zoya's eyes widened watching him read the card,

'Happy 18th Birthday Ahsaan' He read out. A lone tear strolled down her cheek, Asad watched her blank face. He looked at his phone that was flashing constantly; 100 calls and 5 voicemails from Zain. He handed the phone to Zoya who played the voicemails,

'Chachu, Chachu! Please someone pick up. Ayaat fainted, her nose was bleeding, I'm in hospital. I don't know what to do; doctors are not telling me anything. She'll be fine right? Please come to the hospital I er-' Zain's broken voice was cut off. Asad and Zoya stared at the phone then at each other. Both the glass of water and phone fell to the floor with a crash; Asad shivered dropping the box of gift in his hands. Zoya jumped forward and grabbed the box holding in tightly against her chest.

'No Asad, I will not lose another child.' She got to her feet and held his arms. Asad wrapped his arm around her and headed for the door.

Ayaat opened her eyes slowly, her head was spinning. She focused her eyes on the round lighting above her; she blinked a few times at the dull surrounding. She looked to her right to find him watching, his hands tightly holding on to hers. He blinked a few times meeting her eyes,

'You're awake?' He jumped relieved, 'How are you feeling? Listen you're going to be fine. They're just going to perform some scans. You're going to be fine' He nodded at her brushing her hair back. She nodded seeing him nod, her eyes held his as he cupped her face. She shook her head seeing his lips quiver, he looked so vulnerable. Her shaky hands brushed his cheeks before falling beside her instantly.

'Are you okaay?' He whispered, she nodded before slowly looking to her left. She blinked a few times seeing his body on the other side of the glass window. His head was bandaged as the nurses zoomed in and out of his room with worry.

'W-what's wrong with him, is he okay?' She breathed harshly. Zain remained quiet staring at him, she watched the nurse smile back at her as she came to check her pulse.

'What's wrong with him?' She asked again softly.

'He needs blood, he has under 24 hours' She paused,

'What?

'B-, our blood banks are empty. Don't worry we'll do whatever we can' She turned around to go,

'Wait' She picked up her left hand, her fingers tried reaching for the nurse, she tilted her head towards him. She watched him, 'I'm B-, take my blood'

'But you're too weak-'

'I don't care' Ayaat moved,

'You're weak' Zain stopped her from moving,

'I'm alive' She held his gaze, Zain felt a pang of pain watching her eyes cry with worry for this stranger. 'I'll never be able to forgive myself knowing I didn't try to save him. If not for the sake of humanity, I guess I owe him for his act today. It's the little things that makes a difference.' She waited for Zain to nod, 'please, for my sake allow me to-' She watched him turn towards the nurse,

'We'll have to carry out some tests first' The nurse stared at her. Ayaat nodded eagerly.

Zain watched Ayaat; 'She cares too much.' He smiled remembering Zoya's words. He sat back next to her holding her hands as the nurse took a sample of blood from her other arm. She didn't flinch as her eyes refused to leave Asim's face.

'Will he be okaay?' She whispered,

'Thanks to you, he will' the nurse replied walking out of the room.

Zain slowly looked at Ayaat helping her to sit upright; he sniffed quietly trying to hold back his tears. He watched her silently praying to the Almighty for giving her back to him. His thumb brushed the back of her hand, she slowly faced him. She blinked her tears away, she tilted her head. Her heart scrunched up seeing his distressed state,

'Miss Khan, are you sure?' They both looked up,

'Yes.'

'Come on then. We've sent the bloods to the lab; we have a positive thumbs up since you're already on our system. Your doctor, Ms Sengupta should be here shortly for your scans. Let's get you prepared now' The nurse came forward with a wheelchair,

'I'm fine' Ayaat looked at the wheelchair, 'ahh Zain?' She squealed as he picked her up into his arms, he held her tightly before asking the doctor where to carry her. Her eyes refused to leave his face; her hands lingered on his neck and chest. He could feel Ayaat's gaze on her but his emotions were overpowering right this moment making him fight the urge to take her into a bone crushing hug. He placed her on the bed beside Asim, he caressed her face not wanting to hide his love for her. Nothing will happen to you, I will not let anything happen to you; I promise. Let all this be over and I'll tell you how much I care about you no matter how much your eyes deny your feelings. He walked out of the room backwards staring at the two before the doors closed him out. Ayaat looked to her left,

'This one's for Ahsaan' She whispered smiling.

Zain was startled hearing someone's voice, he jumped up and looked horrified as one of the nurses and a doctor rushed towards him. They both pushed past him and entered the theatre Ayaat was in. His heart skipped a beat seeing the scene in front of him.

'Doctor, you need stop the-' Dr Sengupta paused in shock,

'It's over doctor, what's happened?' The doctor in charge looked confused. Dr Sengupta breathed out a heavy sigh. Ayaat blinked trying to understand what was going on. She felt slightly light headed. She looked over at Asim and smiled.

'I think you should see the results of the blood tests. I er' She struggled for words,

'Ohh' His eyes widened seeing the reports, 'was it safe?' He looked over his shoulder at Asim.

'Time will tell but for now, we need to carry out those scans' She hesitated, 'Heyy betaa, how are you feeling?' Dr Sengupta brushed Ayaat's hair, she smiled back at her. 'We're just going to perform some scans angel, is that okaay?' She whispered, Ayaat nodded consenting. She sat on a stool beside her, 'How's Ammi doing?' She spoke softly whilst she rubbed some cool gel on her arm, Ayaat whispered back a reply. She closed her eyes slowly being able to hear her doctor's voice in the background. The doctors rushed her bed out of the room; Zain panicked not being able to keep up with them.

'What's wrong? Will someone please tell me?' Zain scowled protectively holding onto her bed,

'Have you phoned Zoya?' Dr Sengupta gave him a blank look. Zain let go taking out his phone.

Zain brushed his face with his hands; he leaned forward on his seat and stared towards the floor. His eyes failed to focus, they blurred as vivid images of her flashed before his eyes. Her laughter echoed back in his ears, her gleaming eyes, plumped lips, silky hair, her dancing, her image spinning in front of him. He leaned back against the wall brushing his hair back, hours had gone past. She remained in her room; he didn't know what to do not being able to connect to anyone. They were going to discharge her today itself, but the doctors refused to come with the good news as he longingly stared towards the entrance of the 3rd floor. He closed his eyes momentarily before being jerked forward out of his seat. His eyes shot open as Asad held his collar, his harsh breathing made Zain hold his breath in fear. Asad turned him and pushed him back, Zain's feet brushed the floor backwards trying to find some hard ground to stand on. His back smashed against the wall making him wince; he didn't fight back even though he couldn't breathe from Asad's grip. He let go and Zain fell against the wall. He burst into a coughing fit, his eyes watery with sweat falling off the side of his head.

'If anything happens to my daughter' Asad growled,

'She-' Zain hit the wall side wards as the force of Asad's punch touched his cheek. Zain grunted loudly picking himself up and staring at Asad with wide eyes. 'Ayaat is' He fell the other way as Asad slapped him with the back of his hands, Zain didn't react hearing Zoya's cries to let him go. She fought with him trying to explain it was her fault, but Asad turned a deaf ear towards her. He picked himself up, 'is fine' He completed his sentence as blood peeked from the side of his lips. Zain panted in Zoya's arms, her hands continuously brushed his hair back. Not a single tear was shed by Zain's eyes as he watched Asad's shivering state. Asad's breathing slowed down, he turned around and looked at the duo.

'Asad, what is wrong with you?' Zoya scolded, 'He is just a child' She glared at him. 'I sent him out to do some shopping with Ayaat, I am so disappointed in you' She kissed Zain's head,

'It's his fault, it's his mother's fault' Asad started again, Zoya looked at him sharply,

'They've ruined my life and now they want to ruin my daughter's life' Asad kicked the air, Zoya flinched on the ground. 'What did you do?' He shouted at Zain, 'What did you do to her?'

'Well he saved me for a start' Ayaat's stern voice came from the door; she looked straight at her father, disappointed. She walked over to him slowly, her eyes not leaving Zain's distraught face. Asad pulled her into a hug,

'Thank Almighty, you're okaay' He held her tight, tears overflowing from her eyes.
'I was scared, you scared me baby. I don't know what I would do if anything happened to you' He whispered,

'I think the boy took the worst of it' Dr Sengupta appeared, 'He was petrified when she was unconscious. He scared the nurses, they were worried he would pass out' She laughed, Zoya got up and hugged her,

'Thank you Nikita.' She whispered,

'I didn't do anything. Don't worry I'll make sure nothing ever happens to her' Nikita hugged her tighter. Zoya stared at her back, she let go of the hug and stared at Nikita knowing she was behaving differently.

'I have performed a few scans just for assurance; will get the results out to you soon. Ayaat beta, you have grown up to be such a caring person just like your mother. You saved his life beta, remember that. There's not many people like you that are willing to risk their own health to help others. You take care of yourself. There's nothing to worry about, just slight weakness. I've given her the prescription, she should be fine' She smiled staring at Ayaat. Zoya held Nikita's hand and squeezed it. Ayaat smiled back without removing her head off Asad's chest. Her eyes moved back to Zain who was staring at her; I'm so so so sorry Zain. This is why I wanted to stay away from you, the more I try to mend your relationship, I make it worse. I can't bear to see you hurt, and that too because of me. I'll have to stay away from you, for your sake. She closed her eyes, pressing out her tears. She hid her face in his chest; Zain frowned seeing her hide from him.

'I want to go home' She whispered,

'Haan, we'll go now' Asad picked her up.

'Yeah you can take her. I've filled everything out. And it's great to see you Zoya.' She hugged her again.

'You take care of yourself' Zoya whispered back, her heart was screaming at her. She looked at Zain and hugged him,

'I'm so sorry beta, you know his temper. He didn-'

'It's okay. I understand' He hugged her tighter. Zoya closed her eyes, her heart throwing curses at the mother who disowned such a wonderful child.

'I'll be fine. You go' Zain pressed his eyes at Zoya closing the car door. His eyes then fell on Ayaat at the back of the car, her eyes held his. His hands brushed the car as it drove off, he touched her face momentarily. Ayaat looked out of the window at him; her hands screeched the glass window as the car drove past him. He stood alone staring at her, holding his coat over his shoulder. A lone tear escaped her eyes watching him turn around finally and get into his car. She kneeled on the backseat to see him driving away. She sat back against the seat, closing her eyes and holding her chest; why was she hurting? She opened her eyes suddenly feeling someone's fingers wipe her tears, she looked to her side to find Zain sitting there shaking his head in a no. Her lips quivered, he caressed her face making her tilt her head in his hands warming up to his touch. He tucked her hair behind her ears, he sat closely next to her. He placed a soft kiss on her forehead, he entwined their hands. She placed her head on his shoulder and stared ahead at the space in front of her. He placed his head on hers, her eyes closed slowly in his hold.
Zoya moved her hand when Asad placed his hand on hers. She looked back,

'Don't think I have forgiven you for what you did' She gritted her teeth,

'Zoya I-' She put her hand up to stop him,

'When will you stop blaming him for Tanveer did?' She questioned, 'he's an innocent child bought up by Ammi. I think you've lost faith in Ammi's upbringing. Every time I see him, I see his yearning for your love, for your one glance' She sighed,

'It's hard for me to forget' Asad stared ahead of him,

'I don't think you were the only one affected Asad. I'm trying to move forward, with Zain, but you're not letting me. How do you think Ayaat will feel seeing your hatred for Zain? She'll start asking questions Asad and the day she does, I want you to answer her because either you'll make her or break her' Zoya looked back, she knows her daughter better than anything. She cares about Zain, her father's hatred for him is killing her day by day.

'What the hell is that supposed to mean?' He looked at her,

'Well I just hope you don't teach her to hate or give her a reason to. I have taught her to mend things, not break them.' Zoya sighed, 'She will do anything to keep her family from falling apart, a family that Zain is part of. Well I'm just hoping you don't push her away from you' Zoya didn't know how to tell him that his daughter was falling for the boy he hates the most.

'Zoya, do you even know what you're saying?' Asad halted the car.

'You were wrong today Asad, the sooner you accept that, the better it will be for all of us' Zoya crossed her arms, Asad hit the steering wheel. He drove off without speaking another word, he knew he was wrong but how was he to admit it. It was wrong for him to assume Zain was behind Ayaat falling sick, his mind was playing games with him. Tanveer's face haunted him till this day, her wicked plans echoed back in his ears. He had to let go of the past, for his daughter's sake. He didn't want her asking questions and knowing about such a woman. He didn't want such hatred to be witnessed by his daughter, and he would do anything to protect her. He looked at his rear view mirror; he smiled seeing her sleeping peacefully.

'I think that is the last of the boxes' Ayaat sell-o-taped the brown boxes. She wiped her forehead and stood with her hands on her hips.

'I told you to leave them, I was doing it na baba' Zoya chided coming out of her room,

'It's good to see you on your feet Ammi' Ayaat smiled holding on to her overalls, she skipped over the boxes. 'Oh look at this doll, Ammi you got me this when I was 6 right?' She twisted the back hoping it wasn't out of battery. She placed it on the floor, 'guddy guddy guddy' She imitated the doll shaking side to side bending her knees slightly with her bum out. Zoya burst out laughing, Asad almost slipped. Ayaat shook her hair side to side, her high bun made it even funnier. Asad placed the boxes on the floor and headed towards the kitchen laughing. Ayaat grinned folding the ends of her denim overalls; she tied the laces on her converses and started busting some Zumba moves. She skipped over the boxes giggling to herself. She turned around to find Zain entering the house, she almost ran forward before stopping on her tracks and facing the other way.

'Zain beta, thank you for coming. How are you feeling?' Zoya went forward and took their takeout off him.

'No worries. What did you need help loading? All of this' He pointed towards the floor. Asad came out of the kitchen and froze, he avoided looking at Zain. 'I'll just-'

'Noo eat with us first. We'll do the rest together' She pulled his arm towards the dining table. Ayaat slowly walked towards the back garden seeing her father behave oddly. Zoya watched Zain's gaze follow Ayaat,

'Could you call her inside' She looked at Zain,

'Huh?' He broke out of his thoughts; everyone looked up seeing Ayaat rush inside.

'I have to go office. Our Italian delegates are due to arrive in an hour' She spoke indirectly to Zain.

'I'll have to go now, but I'll come by in the evening and take all this. You don't worry, please don't lift anything heavy. I promise I'll do it' He smiled kissing her on the cheek. 'I er will give you a lift' He looked Ayaat.

'Erm I'm fine. You go-'

'Don't be silly. Go together. Go now' Zoya pushed Ayaat towards Zain; she avoided his gaze walking out of the door. He followed behind her concerned at her behaviour. She came running back past him,

'Abbu we have to go see him today, remember?' She breathed heavily,

'Ofcourse beta. You finish your meeting' Asad smiled.

She reached the door handle before Zain could; she pulled it open and sat inside. He stared at her behaviour; she hadn't spoken a word today towards him. He shrugged it off.

He watched the boardroom empty one by one, the meeting had gone well but he didn't feel the joy that was showing on everyone else's faces. The little bit of light in him faded seeing her turn away from. She grabbed her folders and headed out of the room,

'Ayaaat?' He called behind her; he ran forward and grabbed her arm.

'Are you okaay?' She nodded without looking at him; she pulled his hand off her and walked away. 'Ayaat wait, listen to me' He paced behind her, he watched her speed walk towards Immy. He stopped seeing her walk away with him. He fisted his hands and punched the air. Everyone in the lobby stared at him,

'Don't you all have work to do?' He spoke sternly. 'Mr Ghai, I don't pay you to sit on your mobile all day. I want those reports by the end of the day. Breaks over, everyone back to work' He shouted furiously, everyone scurried away. 'Alainaaa?!!' He yelled, the lobby thundered making Alaina feel faint. She stood in front of him; Ayaat appeared in the lobby with Immy both smiling away. Zain squeezed the life out of the chocolate bar he was holding and dropped it to the floor. He looked at his hand and then at Ayaat,

'Please send all the apprentices to my room, one by one' He spoke gritting his teeth. Ayaat looked at Immy, worried that he was going to take her anger out on all the apprentices.

She stepped forward but he turned around and stormed off towards the lift.

'He is such a jerk' Immy made a face, Ayaat looked at him. He smiled at her before going up to his office.

Zain played with the paperweights, fidgeting with everything around him. He watched as Immy entered the room and sat down. He leaned back against the chair; Immy imitated his posture crossing his legs over. He smirked back at him making him even more furious.

'Let's have a look at your progre-' he stopped short as Immy burst out laughing. He lifted his eyebrow at his behaviour,

'Why don't you just get to the point?' Immy whispered shaking his head, 'are we a little jealous?' He taunted,

'Excuse me? How about you change your tone before I-'

'Oh please spare me the boss talks' He mocked, 'You're only a few months older than us, stop acting like you know what you're doing' He rolled his eyes,

'Ohhh I don't see you sitting on my seat and managing a multi billionaire business' Zain retorted,

'Pfffttt! Easy peasy, especially if you're being spoonfed.' He twisted his mouth, 'why don't you just leave her alone, you're not her type' He pulled his collar, Zain raised his eyebrow,

'And you are?'

'Well you're the one chasing her and who has she come to?' He put his hands on his chest, 'mee' He said confidently getting up,

'You keep your perverted hands off her you hear me?' Zain yelled pounding his glass table. He laughed mockingly, Zain walked around and held him by the collar, 'keep your hands off her, do you understand?' He shook his collar, Immy laughed harder making Zain burst. He picked him up and threw him making him stumble on his feet. Immy looked towards the door and frowned putting his head down,

'Yes boss' He smiled to himself.

'Zain?!!' Ayaat stormed inside, 'what the hell are you doing?'

'Leaveee' Zain shouted over her shoulder, Immy walked out smirking,

'That is enough!' She put her hand up, 'is this a way to treat your employees, physically abusing them?' She grilled him,

'I think you're forgetting you're my employee right now' he yelled back frustrated.

'Yes sorry boss' She stepped back and turned around to leave,

'Arghhh' Zain kicked the chair, he threw everything off his desk. He looked at his hurt hand and took out a glass piece, Ayaat stopped near the door before running out.

'Why are you ignoring meee?' He shouted, 'Why? I thought something changed between us, why are you behaving so coldly. Why are you getting closer to him? Whyyy' He held his head.

'Where's Ayaat?' Zain asked Alaina having searched the whole office,

'She left a while back with Immy. Think he's dropping her off. Why?'

'No no, nothing. It's fine. See you tomorrow' He forced her a smile before turning around to leave.

'Sir' She called behind him, he turned around and looked at her, 'all the pictures haven't come through but they did email me a few. I printed this out for you' She walked around her desk and stood in front of him. She placed the envelope in his hands, he watched her with curious eyes.

'Erm thank you' He whispered softly, 'I've been a jerk haven't I?' He finally admitted to her. She nodded at him, 'How do you cope with me even though I'm so much more younger than you? My behaviour is just...'

'Dilshad Ma, I have faith in her and you. The last 17 years, this company had run without its original owners. This building is filled with Zoya's memories, every corner; every room was built with Zoya in mind. Asad was too scared to run this place. The last 8 months have brought life to this place; I have faith that you will reach great heights.' She placed her other hand over the envelope, 'Now Ayaat is here. You both together, will create history, trust me' She winked. A small smile formed on his lips, he hugged her instantly,

'Thank you Alaina' He moved his head back, 'I still feel weird calling you that, you're so much older than me.'

'I'm not that old' she smacked his arm, I told you on the first day. I have no problems.' She patted his head,

'There's a few boxes in my room, Daadi asked me to give them to you. I forgot. Sorry'

'No problem sir, I'll check them out' She smiled going back behind her desk.

'Byeee' He turned around and left the building.

'Asad, don't talk to me' Zoya put her hand up to stop Asad from hugging her,

'I was only hugging you' He frowned,

'No need for that either' She glared at him,

'Ammi? What's happened? Are you okaay?' Ayaat asked entering the house with a huge bouquet in her hands. She placed them on the table and hugged her father.

'What's up?' He held her in his arms,

'Nothing' She rested her chin on his chest looking up, 'Just wanted to hug you' She smiled,

'See this, this is called love' He taunted Zoya. She gave him the most serious of expressions asking him not to mess with her right now.

'Raheem chacha is here. I'm leaving now, Ayaat beta hospital se jaldi aana. Asad' She held his eyes, he nodded in defeat.

'I'll place these in the car' Ayaat spoke behind them, walking out of the house. Zain collided with her on the porch; he looked at the flowers in her hands feeling slightly irritated. She ignored him and walked passed him; he held her free hand, turning her around. He placed the envelope in her hand, he looked into her eyes before turning around and entering the house.

'Thank you for coming back beta. Ayaan has taken the heavy stuff. Don't touch the furniture, most have been shifted. It's just Ayaat's stuff left. Those 6 boxes for today I think. Let me just see, I'll leave with you actually' She went back to her room to check on something. Zain looked at Asad fidgeting with the tool box; he walked over and pulled the lever opening it for him. He turned around to pick up one of the boxes,

'Thanks' He heard Asad say softy behind him, he shook his head not looking back.

'Zzain' Asad stuttered, his voice almost coming out as a squeak. He watched Zoya's head pop out from her room; she threatened him with her eyes. He looked at Zain who had turned around with the box in his hands. 'I-I I love Ayaat so much, I only just got her back, I wasn't thinking I don't know why I hit you. It was just the pain, of knowing she was in some sort of danger sort og clawed something inside of me. You're not unaware of the past, what I'm trying to say is that I'm, I'm sorry. I took my frustration out on the wrong person, I really am sorry' He looked down towards the floor. Zain's body shivered hearing his apology, he wasn't angry at him at all because he understood his love for his daughter.

'It's okaay. I understand, circumstances were all wrong. I've forgotten about it' He shook his head, Ayaat watched from the front door holding onto the side of the door, tears overflowing her eyes. She wiped her tears away with the back of her hands before running towards the car seeing both of them walking out of the house.

Asad held her waist; she turned around and smiled at him,

'What's wrong? Why are your eyes red?' He wiped her cheeks with the back of his hand,

'Something went into my eyes' She lied smiling, Zain placed the box in the boot and looked back at her being able to recognise her lie. 'It's really windy isn't it?' She untied her hair and let her curls loose in an attempt to hide her face. She got into the car whilst Asad fidgeted with his phone.

'Let's go...' She hit her head against the seat impatiently,

'Do minute baba. Love crisis, your Ammi isn't talking to me' Asad spoke sadly. He then drove off. He excitedly looked towards Zoya as she came out to talk to Zain, Ayaat burst out laughing seeing her mother ignore her father.

'Women are so difficult' He complained getting onto the main road,

'I think you're forgetting your daughter is one of them' Ayaat reminded him,

'I know, think I'll pass out one day making up to the three women in my life. It's difficult to live with you and without you' He laughed.

'Stupid fool, who the hell told him to walk around like a drunk Romeo so late at night' Tanveer cursed him as she got into her car. 'He's going to ruin all my plans' She puffed driving off. 'Mama mama karta hain, I'll do anything for you' She imitated, 'cannot do anything properly. I've had enough of acting like his mother' She gripped the steering wheel tighter. 'Think I should pay my so called son a visit' She smirked parking up.

'Abbu, I don't know what he's called. I hope he's okaay?' She whispered entering his room.

'The nurse did say he gained consciousness' Asad whispered back, his eyes opened wide realising who it was on the bed. 'Asim?' Asad spoke shocked, Ayaat looked at him confused. Asim opened his eyes slowly; he found a girl and Asad sitting next to him eagerly waiting for him.

'Heyy, how are you feeling?' Ayaat spoke softly; he looked at the flowers and smiled.

'I'm fine' He spoke weakly, his voice still groggy. He looked at Asad confused, 'sir aap?'

'You've taken quite a hit beta' Asad spoke concerned, 'Have the hospital contacted your family?' He asked, Asim nodded at him.

'Do you need anything?' Ayaat asked,

'No you've done enough for me' Asim whispered, 'thank you' he forced a smile.

'Whoo-'

'I did' One of the nurses smiled at her, 'you wouldn't think I would hide it from him, you risked your health lovely' She patted her shoulder before placing the flowers into a pot. Ayaat gazed towards him,

'I guess I forcefully made a relation with you' Ayaat smiled shrugging her shoulders,

'Both of your blood groups are very rare to find. If I wasn't told beforehand, I would've assumed you were siblings' The nurse checked his monitor before walking out of the room. Asim gazed towards the girl who was showing her so much concern,

'Abbu, you needed to go home right? You go and erm I'll pick up Ammi's reports. I'll get mine too' She pressed her eyes at him.

'You sure?' She nodded at him. Asim stared at them both mentally scolding himself for putting himself in such a position.

'You take care of yourself beta. Get well soon, I want to see you up and about soon at the office' He smiled. He saluted his daughter before walking out of the room.

'Wow you work for Abbu?' Ayaat was surprised, he nodded her a reply. He closed his eyes coughing; she jumped out of her seat and poured him some water to drink.

'You look so much like your mother' He spoke finally as his eyes followed her steps.

'Everyone says that' She laughed, 'I just think that I've lived alone with her for so long, I've actually turned into her' She joked, he couldn't help but smile at her expressions.

'Ermm is someone coming' She asked,

'My Mama' He replied, she nodded. Her thoughts were broken when she heard his phone beep, she handed him the phone. She awww'd seeing the smile on his face looking at the phone,

'Can't believe that thing is still alive' She laughed, 'I'll leave you to it' She took out a note from her pocket, 'Here's my number "sibling" if you need anything just give me a call' She smiled tying her hair up.

'I didn't get your name' He looked up taking the note off her,

'Ayaat' She grinned before walking out of the room. She popped her head back in, 'There's some takeout in that packet, don't tell the nurses' She winked at him before closing the door,

'Genuisss' He thanked her mentally. He rest his head back as his emotions took over,

'He has a daughter, he has a family' He whispered to himself.

'Can I have Zoya Khan's reports please?' Ayaat shook her body side to side placing her hands in her pocket.

'One moment' The nurse went through the folders,

'Ayaat?' She turned around hearing a familiar voice,

'Nikita Aunty' She hugged her,

'How are you feeling beta?' Nikita asked,

'Just a few cramps, stomach is being weird since yesterday. Not as light headed anymore. Or else I'm fine' She pressed her eyes, Nikita patted her face,

'You haven't changed' She laughed before a lone tear escaped her eyes. She wiped it quickly, 'Ayaat, I was going to call you but good thing you're here alone. I've got your reports beta, can I speak to you please?' Ayaat nodded confused,

'The reports' She pointed backwards,

'Nurse, send those to my room please?' Nikita held Ayaat and walked her to her office.

'Is everything okaay aunty?' Ayaat felt her breathing go weird, her heart was threatening to jump out of her. She sat down watching Nikita go around the desk and sit on the other side.

'I was going to initially call Zoya but I don't know how to tell her. She loves you immensely. She has suffered a lot. But I'm going to tell you this trusting you to share this with her. I still remember when you were in immense pain when you were younger; you hid it from Zoya because you didn't want her to worry. Ayaat beta'

'What's wrong? Please tell me' Ayaat held the side of the chair,

'Your results betaa... You're suffering from cancer' She breathed out, Bone marrow cancer' Ayaat held her breath as the words sunk in. She shook her head confused,

'Basically, your blood cells...' Nikita's voice drowned in the background as she heard her heart beating inside her. Ayaat blinked a few times trying to focus, she watched Nikita's lips move as she explained what was happening, she watched her walk around and kneel on the floor in front of her, 'Don't worry you'll be fine. Yeah. We'll start chemotherapy... There are so many solutions, nothing will happen to you. We'll even look for a donor if worst comes to worst' She nodded explaining the procedures, 'I want you to come by tomorrow morning for a few tests yeah?' Nikita tucked a few loose strands behind her ears; she placed the report in her hands. She watched Ayaat get up and walk out of the room motionless, Nikita breathed into her hands trying to control her tears.

The nurse gave Ayaat her mother's reports; she took it without a word and carried on walking down the lonely corridor. Her eyes stared at the white space in front of her that was never-ending, she bumped into someone.

'Watch ittt!' Tanveer screeched.

'Sorry' Ayaat whispered before walking away. Tanveer stopped in her tracks and turned,

'Excuse me?' Tanveer called out, Ayaat ignored her calls. She ran forward and stopped her,

'Ayaat right?' She asked,

'Huh? Yes, Do I know you?'

'No but I know you' She nodded smiling,

'Do you know where Sohail would be?'

'Sohail? I'm sorry I don't know anyone with that name' She walked away,

'Dilshad's grandchild?' She tilted her head forward,

'Zain?'

'Yes him.'

'Well you can come by the office sometime next week'

'Office?' Tanveer sounded confused,

'DZ Connect' Ayaat answered before walking away.

'Wow sonny boy, you've done well for yourself' Tanveer smirked, 'Gotta check it out' She swiftly turned on her feet and walked towards Asim's ward. 'Ayaat, Ayaat, Ayaat' She repeated her name over and over again, 'Your annoying little face and your mother's...' She grabbed an yellow flower from the pot outside the hospital room, 'Hellooo?' She popped her head into the ward laughing.

'Mama' Asim's face lit up, he quickly placed the phone under his pillow. She placed the flower on his stomach sitting down next to him,

'I told you to be careful, you nearly ruined my plan' Tanveer scolded, Asim's smile faded away instantly holding his head down shamefully in front of her, she picked his chin up to meet his eyes,

'Get well soon' She smiled, I have so many plans for you' She spread her hands out to indicate her point. Asim slowly removed the note from the bouquet of flowers on the table. His hand shot back under the blanket, Tanveer looked at the flowers.
'Who gave you that?' She asked touching them,

'The nurse didn't say' He hesitated, 'I was sleeping, I'm guessing it was the person who helped me last night'

'You should thank this person for saving my- you' She grinned sniffing the flowers.

'I have... I mean I asked the nurses to' He touched his arm, 'I should be out in a few days, I don't start until Monday' He looked at her,

'Good, you still remember you have work to do' Tanveer turned around, 'Oh chocolates, you want some?' She picked up the box and presented it in front of him; he shook his head in a no. She walked towards the window; she held the blinds in between her fingers creasing her eyebrows, 'Ayaat Khan?' She repeated her name, 'Ayaat Zoya Ahmed Khan' Her nose scrunched up,

'Whoo?' Asim's head shot towards her,

'Our next target! Oh ho I love this family' She turned to face him, 'they just can't bear to stay away from me. They deserve what's coming to them, we will get our revenge beta' Asim closed his eyes momentarily,

'I thought Asad Ahmed Khan was our only target' He looked at her disbelievingly, she stepped towards him and caressed his face,

'We need to hit his weaknesses. We will get what's ours. Mama loves you' She brushed his hair back placing a kiss on his forehead. 'I'll give you a call later, see you tomorrow' She walked off,

'Wait, why don't you stay?' Asim held her hand,

'I have some important work to do. I'll see you tomorrow' She pulled his hand off, she waved at him before walking out of the room. Asim sighed against his pillow, he held Ayaat's card in front of him and split it into two pieces before throwing it into the bin.

'Ask me, for something, anything in return for this favour. Release me from this guilt... Please Ayaat' He whispered to himself. 'I can't even convince myself that we don't have a blood relationship.' He looked at his hands, 'but this relationship, of love, isn't allowing me to hate you, plan my revenge against you. My blood relationship with my mother, was the strongest ever. What is this empowering relationship you have formed with me, why is this relationship forcing me to lie to the person I could stop breathing for?' He pressed his forehead thinking of how he could protect his "sibling" from harm when he comes to destroy her father.

She held the reports in front of her, her eyes fixed on the red lines. Her hair swayed in front of her, the wind pushed against her body making her shake from the ground. She faced upwards hearing the sudden thunder, making her heart beat faster. She played with the lighter, once she managed to get the flame on; she brought it next to the papers. Her hands froze as the rain started pouring suddenly, taking out the flames soaking the papers and her body in seconds.

She closed her eyes suddenly feeling the rain stop; she brought the papers to her chest and shivered. The lighter fell out of her fisted hands before she slowly opened her eyes, she watched the rain fall vigorously than before. She looked up and then to her side, her eyes relaxed seeing him stand there holding an umbrella over them both. He held her eyes, watching the fire in her extinguish slowly. He put his hand out, touching her cheeks; wiping away her tears. He watched her lips quiver, he stroked her cheeks, she placed both of her hands on his arm pulling herself closer to him. He brushed his hand down her shoulder, her hands tightened over his arm as she followed his eyes to the papers she was holding. She stepped back quickly holding the papers against her chest, he stepped forward holding the umbrella over her. He put his hand out again slowly pulling the papers from her hold, she felt defeated slowly allowing her hands to loosen. She watched him hold the papers in front of him, his eyes still staring at her. His eyes then moved furiously over the lines in front of him, everything blurry but those dark prints staring back at him,

'Cancer' He whispered, he looked up at her smiling back at him with tears overflowing her eyes. His grip loosened over the umbrella letting it fall from his hand; the rain drenched both of them. He blinked through the rain; he cupped her face before pulling her to his chest. She broke into a loud sob, her screeching voice evidence of her pain. She clawed at his chest, his hands held her tighter trying to console her. He looked around the lonely park; the skies were tearing just like his heart at this moment. 'I will not let anything happen to you' He spoke softly, his voice all broken. She pulled back from the hug and stared at him,

'Kyun tum mere sapnon mein aise aate ho?' She tilt her head side wards, she stepped backwards brushing his arms, 'Kyun mujhe tum aise sambhalte ho? Mere nazre haat the nahin, tum chale jaate ho. Agar tumhe jaana hi hai, tho thum mere paas aate kyun ho?' She pressed away her tears, his hands cupped her face,

'Ek baar rukhne ke liye tum kaho tho, mein yahan se kahin nahin jaunga' She placed her hand over his,

'Shayad isiliye kyunki tumhe mujhse door rehna hi tumhare liye behtaar hai. Lekin tumhe aapne aap se jitna hi door karta hoon, tumhe meri utna hi paas pata hoon.' She turned around facing her back towards him knowing he would disappear in the next moment.

'Main tumse door hone ke liye itna paas nahin ayaa hoon' He placed his coat over her, she turned on her feet.

'Zain?' She whispered, she watched him hold her hands and pull her away towards his car. She followed his lead like a child. He helped her inside the car; he stood outside securing her seatbelt. She watched him with wide eyes as he brushed her hair back, removing loose sticky strands from her face. She stopped his moving hand, looking at him disbelievingly.

'I'm not going to disappear not matter how much you push me away' He tapped her nose before closing the door. He brushed his wet hair back staring out into the sky, his heart was threatening to burst out of him. He held the car for support as he walked around it and sat inside. He started the car and drove off,

'Don't tell Ammi' She pleaded in a whisper, he held his steering wheel tighter.

'Don't take advantage-'

'I'm not. I I er I will tell her myself when the time is right. If anything happens to me-' the car screeched to a halt.

'Nothing will happen to you. Do you understand me?' He yelled at her, he hit her head lightly, 'I thought you were clever. Stop saying stupid things like that' He hit the steering wheel.

'Zain?'

'What?' He looked at her, 'Okaay, fine!' He drove off.

Asad pushed his room door open and stood with his hands behind his back leaning against the door. He smiled seeing Zoya tidy the room, updating her wardrobe that still contained her clothes from 18 years ago.

'Yeh Asad bhi na, he acts all organised but what is all this?' She grumbled wrapping the end of her saree around her waist and tucking it. She had changed into a lime coloured saree so that she could go out with Dilshad thinking there wouldn't be much to do in her room. She had cancelled all her plans so that she could sort everything out before Ayaat got home; she didn't want her to feel unsettled. She had made sure Ayaat's room was glistening clean with everything in its place. 'Allah Miyaan, What is this? Why are those bags still up there?' She hit her head looking up to see her old handbags dusting away at the top of the cupboard. She shut the cupboard door with force making Asad jump up; he watched horrified praying for the cupboard that was taking all his beatings. 'He updated the cupboards but thrown everything back in its place? Stupid fool!' Asad put his finger up to protest but decided otherwise. He watched as she brought the duster pulling her dressing table chair in front of the cupboard. Asad facepalmed himself seeing her brush all the dust from the top, she sneezed feeling the dust tickle under her nose. Her body shook as she felt her energy go into sneezing, her foot slipped on the edge making her stumble side wards and almost fly backwards. Asad ran forward and caught her in his arms; he closed his eyes hearing her shriek deafening his ears. He slowly opened his eyes and admired her delicate face scrunched up in fear, her eyes tightly shut, lips pressed against each other. He grinned seeing his wife glowing back at him, he watched her lips part.

'Almighty, please don't kill me. I haven't even gotten my daughter married yet. I want to see her wedding, I want to see my grandchildren. I'll be good. Break my bones but keep me ali-' She opened her eyes slowly feeling her body swing side to side, she heard his laugh echo back into her ears. She watched with wide eyes as Asad laughed away, almost in tears. She looked around the room before smacking his chest, forcing himself to put her down. He slowly stopped laughing; he held his ears in front of her. She picked her nose up in the air giving him a dirty look and turned around towards the bed. She picked up the folded clothes and paused feeling something on her, she touched her arm removing the red petal and bringing it in front of her. She turned around and faced him; he showered more petals over her. She watched with a cold face as he made all sorts of pleading faces, she stepped towards him, he moved back suddenly smiling. She took further steps towards him as he continued throwing petals over her, he hit the wardrobe and looked at her. She put his hand forward; his heartbeats rose slightly, his smile turned wider. She brushed her hand past his arm and pulled the handle pushing him out of the way. Asad's heart sunk, he frowned as he stood next to her watching her almost defeated. She placed the clothes inside the cupboard and shut it. She held herself from laughing seeing his expressions. She moved past him when he put his hand forward and untucked the end of the saree. She turned around instantly gasping placing her hand over her stomach to hold the saree in its place, she looked up at him to find a devlish grin playing his lips.

'Asad you let me go this instant, or else I-'

'or else what? It's not like you're paying me any attention anyways' He shrugged his shoulders scrunching up the end of the saree in his hand making it fall off her shoulder. She tugged at it with one hand placing the other over her blouse. 'What are you hiding? It's not anything I haven't seen before' He made a face. Zoya's mouth fell open before throwing him a dangerous look. 'Or else what? Tell me?' He gave her a sarcastic look,

You-' She pointed at him before spinning a few times coming to a halt with the support of the table, she almost knocked off the vase. She breathed heavily, her hair swayed below her, she looked at him shocked. He was still holding the end of the saree staring at her slowly moving towards her. She tucked her hair behind her ears; she looked around to find him gone. She felt a tug making her look down, he was on his knees holding a bouquet of flowers.

'I'm so sorry. Please forgive me' He let the saree fall out of his hands.

'For what, the saree?' She raised her eyebrow folding her arms,

'No why would I be sorry about that' He smirked coughing seeing her crease her brows, 'I mean for everything' He held his ear closing one eye biting the side of his lips,

'It's okaay' She removed his hand and picked him up, he held his baby face. She pulled his cheeks taking the roses off him. He rubbed his cheek,

'Saree pehna doon?' He asked her like he was going to do her a favour,

'Agar aapko takleef na ho Jahapana' She rolled her eyes placing her hands on his chest. He grinned ear to ear seeing her flirt with him, her hands wrapped around the nape of his neck pushing him down, 'but first yeh kaam kar do' She pressed her lips against his smiling. His hands wrapped around her bare waist picking her up slightly helping her reach his lips.

'You two are soaked!' Dilshad wrapped a towel around both as they entered the house.

'Kya karoon daadi, some people make it rain on purpose' Zain looked at Ayaat earning a glare off her,

'What?'

'Nothing daadi' She eyed him, 'rain doesn't come without a warning.' She walked towards the kitchen,

'Ayaat change first' Zain ordered,

'You're not my boss out of the office Zain, stop ordering me about' She retorted,

'Ayaat beta, he's right. Change na, I'll make your coffee' Dilshad nodded. Ayaat sighed walking towards her room,

'Wait!' Zain shouted, 'You can't go in there...' Ayaat looked at him angrily, 'yet' He completed his sentence, sounding confused. Dilshad nodded,

'Arghh, do I need an auspicious time to enter my own room now?' She grumbled loudly, Asad and Zoya came out of their rooms. Ayaat looked at them, 'I'm going to the other house seeing as I can't enter my own room. Byeee!' She waved walking past them,

'WAITTT' They all said at once. She turned around and stared at them surprised.

'Gosh, why are you shouting? You could've asked me quietly' She held her ears to emphasise her point. Zoya came up to her and hugged her tight. She held her hand and pulled her towards the room, Asad put his hands over her eyes. She moaned like a baby as she lazily followed her mother's guidance. 'Now what? Let go na, why is this' She felt someone's finger on her lips, she pretended to bite them.

'Oiii naughty girl' Asad scolded hitting her head. He removed his hands,

'Do you want to blind me?' She looked back over her shoulder, 'I- WHAAT?' She froze looking at her new bedroom, It's beautiful' She gasped placing her hand over her mouth.

'Your Abbu designed it. He made sure it was done within a day, Akdu hain, but he has good taste' She caressed her face. Ayaat turned instantly and jumped onto her Abbu hugging him tight, he picked her up and swung slightly caressing her back. He felt his neck go cold and wet,

'Heyyy, shhh. Why are you crying?' He tried to pull away from the hug, only for her to tighten her hold even further.

'I love it' She pulled back suddenly, 'Thank you so so much' She pressed her eyes at him. 'I'm wet, think I should change' She ran towards her wardrobe and pulled out her nightie before running towards the bathroom leaving her family members confused.

She sat in front of the mirror drying her hair, every moment or so, the back of her hands rubbed her face to wipe away the creeping tears.

'Ayaat?'

'Yeah' She turned slowly before stumbling back, 'TUMM-' Her back relaxed against the wall as his hand went over her mouth pushing her back. He took his finger to his lips,

'SHHH' He nodded, she nodded back at him staring at his hand innocently.

'Here you go' He removed his hand holding a bag of medicines in front of her. She stared at it and then at him,

'You don't have to worry about me, I can take care of myself' She pushed past him, 'why are you here Zain?'

'I'm here to take care of you' He whispered looking at her side wards,

'Why do you care what happens to me. Please stay away from me. I'm fine' She looked down,

I''m afraid I can't do that, I didn't come so close to go away from you' He faced her, 'You are fine' He nodded,

'I don't care-'

'Uh uh' He nodded his head sideways making her face him, her breathing shortened taking in his intoxicating scent. She stared down towards the floor as he stared at her holding her arms, 'don't start now. It doesn't matter if you care, what matters is that I care about you' She looked up at him with teary eyes. 'Yes, I care about you Ayaat. More than I should.'

'That's.your.problem' She whispered back trying to control her emotions but his stare was making her melt away in his arms.

'Yes it's my problem that I care about you. But at least I have the guts to admit it. What about you eh?'

'Me-I-'

'Yes tum. At least admit that you care about me.' She shook her head furiously, he laughed at her. 'Your eyes cannot lie, I can see right through to your heart. Quit playing games, who are lying to after all? To yourself?'

'Why are you doing this?' She squirmed in his hold,

'Because I have fallen for you Ayaat' He whispered holding her eyes. She stopped moving and stared with wide eyes, 'I'm in love with you' He let go of her arms and stepped backwards. 'And I know somewhere in your heart, maybe in some tiny suppressed corner, you feel the same for me.' He pointed to her heart as he spoke. She stared down at her heart and then up at him. She turned around quickly wiping away her tears,

'I don't care about you Zain, you're assuming the- She wiped away her tears furiously before turning around to face him to finish her sentence, but seeing his love filled eyes blew her away.

I''m assuming right when I say that you're making excuses to push me away.'

'You're wrong. I don't feel anything for you.'

I''m right Ayaat.' He laughed at her worried expressions, 'as for your feelings' He pointed to her face. She looked at herself and then at him. He touched her face with his indent finger wiping a tear off her cheek and holding it in front of her. He wiped his finger on his chest,

'Stay away from me Zain.' He pulled her hand bringing her body crashing against his,

'I have been staying away. I will stay away until the day you let your fears go, until the day you stop making excuses to push me away. You do care about me Ayaat' He placed a kiss on her forehead,

'I don't' She whispered back,

'You do'
