I agree. And in fact I was waiting for something rebellious and completely out of character from Asad (though not a ponytail I admit). But Asad has come a long way from his own characterization, so lets see the episode before we pass judgment. He definitely doesn't care about the society now, has understood (courtesy Zoya) that outer appearances matter nilch. And maybe, just maybe - the fans also need to take this lesson. Dont bash, judge, condemn without a) actually seeing, b) understanding the trajectory c) if things dont go your way:). Thought the Zoyan track ended because of backlash, so I cant complain too much about the third point.
