KSG's interview with tellychakkar
The Karan Singh Grover no-holds-barred interview; actor opens up on Qubool Hai controversy
Fasten your seatbelts, for this is one helluva roller coaster article!!!
The industry rose to a rude shock when the news of Karan Singh Grover being sacked by Zee TV from the show Qubool Hai (4 Lions Films) hit the headlines.
The channel head Ajay Balwankar spoke and spoke in volumes against the popular actor to the media, who according to him has been unprofessional and also mentioned about a probable legal action against KSG (as Karan is lovingly called by legion of his fans).
Earlier in the day, we also wrote about Raqesh Vashisth coming in as the replacement of KSG. But amidst all this, everyone wanted KSG to open up on the alleged controversy. After all, his reputation was at stake. Everyone wondered, why was he keeping mum? Was he trying to maintain a dignified silence, or was waiting for the storm to settle down before rising from the dust? When we buzzed him, all he said that he would soon issue an official press statement. We waited and waited and refreshed our email inbox, but nada, it only showed silence from KSG's side.
But we were awakened by a sms late in the night asking, Can we talk now?' The message was sent by Karan, anxious and insistent on sharing is heart out. We knew it would be a long conversation. So quickly grabbing a cup of hot coffee, and settling in comfily with a pen and paper in hand (yes, we like the traditional way), we rang up "the" Karan Singh Grover.
Hello Karan, hope you are good. So what's all been written about you? "I am good thank you. Yes, I have read what has been written about me and I have been waiting to talk. I delayed not because I was scared, but I wanted to see how low the channel would stoop to defame me. Whatever has been spoken against me today by Zee authorities have left a very bad taste in the mouth, and I will not let go easily, "said Karan in a heavy tone.
He continued and we let him speak, "It has been said that I came on the sets drunk, which is an utter lie. It is extremely sad that way they have spoken about me. The truth is that my contract got over 3 months back. Right at the beginning I made it very clear that I would stay with the show for a year and then move on. I stayed on because Vikrant (Massey) left the show at the time when my contract expired, and being close to Gul (Producer Gul Khan), I did not want the show to get affected. Hence, I did not renew the contract but continued to shot for Qubool Hai."
So why did he want to quit? "See, I have been keeping very unwell. Right now I am in Delhi and I am not holidaying here. I am suffering from some ailment which I don't want to talk about but yes, multiple physical tests are being done on me. I am in Delhi for health reasons. I had a meeting with the channel on 19th of this month wherein I told them about my problem and they understood it. But on that day they asked me to stay on for a month and then leave. I was worried that people love the character of Asad and they would miss it dearly. So I sat with the juniors of Ajay Balwankar and pondered upon how to show my exit. I told them instead of replacement, for many fans connect me with Asad, kill my character and get a new lead. All was good but then bam...comes today's version from Ajay."
Are you hurt? "Absolutely. You know what, I told Balwankar's juniors that I plan to produce my own show. They told me to do it with Zee and not go to any other channel. They told me to sign an exclusive contract with Zee and I agreed to everything. I said whenever things materialise, I would love to work with them again. Then where is all the negativity coming from suddenly? This shows how less informed Balwankar is when it comes to the meetings I have had with his juniors pertaining to Qubool Hai. The statement was absolutely uncalled for as I gave them dates to end my track. Instead of talking to the press, Balwankar could have just called me up and cleared his doubts. He could have been open minded. He has no right to talk garbage about me to people. They told me to postpone my medical check-ups. I beseeched them to allow me to take a break and in return I promised them to give another 3-4 months of my time to the show. I said it was physically not possible for me to continue shooting. And this is how they reacted to it. Called me an unprofessional."
After a small pause, KSG went on, "I think I became the victim of a channel's ego. They think how can an actor dare to leave us. They would like it the other way. They would say we threw him out. I am completely disappointed and shocked at this point of time. I just want to state that Balwankar has been in the industry for a far more time than me. It's not that we were unaware of each other's existence. He could have taken into consideration our one year of relationship and acted accordingly. Now it's more like one more show, one more channel, one more person. Very sad. Know what, you guys wrote about Raqesh (Vashisth) replacing me, I am the one who convinced him to be a part of the project, as Asad is a very loved character. He is a very dear friend to me. You do so much and what you get in return...humiliation."
What about the legal case that the channel intends to file on him? "Oh, they have no base for that. My contract got over with the channel. The only person who can file a legal case is me against Zee for defamation, which I am considering seriously."
This will get dirty, it seems!!!
Before signing off he said, "I have no issue with Gul at all. She is a lovely person. I just wanted to share the truth with my fans who love me a lot and have supported me throughout. I felt they should know my side of the story. I have nothing else to say. Thank you everyone and I will be soon back doing what I do the best."
Whoa...he really opened up, didn't he? As they say, the absolute truth is always someone else. But all we can say, these are issues which keep cropping up in the entertainment industry. We just hope both Zee and Karan find peace and do great in the future.

"I Have Personally Never Witnessed Any Such Behaviour" - Nehalaxmi on Karan Singh Grover
Zee TV's top show "Qubool Hai" at 9:30 pm slot produced by 4 Lions, is facing a high time crisis with rumours doing the rounds that the lead actor Karan Singh Grover might be replaced in the show. It has been blamed on Karan that he comes either drunk on the sets or with a hangover. Because of his unprofessional attitude, he has been asked to step out of the show.
However, another version of the crisis is that Karan Singh Grover had a one year contract and is leaving the show as he is busy with films. We urged his co-actress Nehalaxmi (Najma in Qubool Hai), playing his on screen sister to give us her statement about the blame been put on Karan Singh Grover.
Neha replied, "I have personally never witnessed any such behaviour as long as I was shooting with him.Since a few months I haven't been shooting at the same set as his, so I have no idea about all this as such".
The issue has become a burning topic on the social networking platforms. Karan Singh Grover's fans took it to Twitter and the hashtag #WeSupportKSG is trending on Twitter since hours.
The rumours about his leaving the show started doing the rounds sometime back in October 2013. However, Karan Singh Grover gave out a statement about not leaving the show putting an end to the speculations. From the month of November, his character (Male Lead) started getting comparatively less screen space in the show.
Last year, during the same time, social media was burning with almost same kind of issue concerning 4 Lions' previous show "Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?". The lead actor Barun Sobti was blamed for putting an end to the show and the channel (Star Plus) flashed a disclaimer on screen saying that the show is going off air as he decided to leave the show. This year again another male lead from the same production house is again blamed for gross misbehaviour and for taking more interest in movies. This time the channel is different (Zee TV). However, the actions of both the broadcasters are equally demeaning and unprofessional on their own part.
It is absolutely disheartening to see broadcasters always putting blames on actors repeatedly for lack of professionalism from their own side. If a channel can't take appropriate measures even after getting advance notices from respective actors months before, then that's the broadcasters fault and not the actors who have already served their notice period with full dignity and professionalism.

Palki on KSG n dmg from 4:11 onwards
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-sagzN60Vg&feature=youtu.be
We know DMG is very close to your heart, any favorite character you got there?
Everytime I get question about DMG. Favorite character in DMG has to be Armaan na! How can it be anything else. Armaan is, will be, forever will be my favorite character. When I homeworked about Armaan that this is the language and confidence level one should have so much. I tried wit some, but when that did not work then I actually brought Karan. I think Karan himself is an institute of acting. He is so good. He has to be Armaan. It can't be any other person be Armaan. Because it is the most versatile character. And that character has done so well that people still today ask me to bring back DMG, Armaan and Riddhima. There are so many fond memories with DMG, twenty thousand fond memories. We used to have very good time with each other and pranks. We used to pull pranks on Shilpa in the beginning. She was blunt, she did not understand. But she was so smart. She patiently took the prank first then went away from there. We used to say 'arrey, where she is going'. So, we used to play lot of pranks. The dance sequences I can't forget in DMG, because I think except Drashti and Sunaina all others were pathetic dancers. Shilpa was ok, but she had to be taught. The boys were MashaAllah. It was so difficult to do events with them. But it used to be so much fun that after the event we were like 'aah, exam khatam hua!'. In every event we used to dance, whether its 'salam-e-ishq' or holi song after it shoot got finished, we played the song and we entire team used to dance together. So, these are great memories.
People like KSG and Drashti started of with you like Armaan and Muskaan how do you feel being behind these successful people? How do you feel they still acknowledge you?
No, I don't think I am the reason behind there success. I would just say that I do select people, that's the job I have. After selecting if I feel that s/he has that quality then I give my 100%.
In his inteviews Karan Singh Grover acknowledges, even when its about Qubool Hai, he tells.
I am saying if I have confidence for someone then I would fight and I would be ready to loose my job and I will be ready to stick by that person. KSG had me almost lose my job. Because nobody had confidence on him. They were like, 'he used to play a negative character'. And they were not interested to take him in DMG. I said I am agree to loose my job if he fails. They said, 'are you sure'. I said, 'I will quit if he does not work'. He worked.
(Palki also said about how she selected Barun Sobti for DMG by fighting others though his character could not grow much there, then sent him to sony and then he worked for IPK and was hit and also talked about Drashti, Shantanu in this way).
So, that's what I am saying, coincidentally none becomes successful. Like Karan became, Barun became, Brushika became, Amar became. They were like kind of rejected things. So, when I took it up on my shoulder that no they will shine. So, I worked hard on them and that all things happened. I would say its not my but purely their talent that their trust on me that they worked well with me and they have done so well.
