Mine definitely has to be Paulo Coelho.
Has to be one of the most inspirational and thought provoking Authors of our time.

Jane Austin (Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, etc...)
Charles Dickens (A Christmas Carol, etc...)
Shakespeare (Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, etc...)

As you can see I'm a huge fan of classics and my fav from recent times has got to be J.K. Rowling (obviously for Harry Potter) and Stephenie Meyer (I loved her books...though the movies sucked big time)
