Zoya woke up disorientated she tried to raise her hand to rub her eyes only to find them held down firm, she looked down and let out a gasp. Asad was in a wheel chair, his head rested on the edge of her bed and her hand firmly held in his. 'Ya Allah, what is Mr Khan doing here?' She reluctantly placed her free hand on his shoulder but he didn't budge, Zoya placed her hand softly on his head brushing back the hair that had covered the side of his face, he looked so peaceful, almost as if he had a smile on his face. Zoya felt a warmth spread across her seeing him, she couldn't remember if she had ever had a chance to really look at him properly before now 'for an Akdu, you really are handsome, almost perfect...no actually with the way that you look Mr Khan I give you ten on ten' as Zoya continued to admire Asad's face he started to wake up, Zoya quickly moved her hand that was still resting on his head 'M...Mr Khan...' Asad lifted his head off the bed and looked at Zoya, waking up to the most beautiful face made him smile whole heartedly, but it only lasted tor a split second. Taking her hand in both of his he started asking her a hundred questions, his voice laced with concern '...you scared the life out of...I couldn't get to...Zoya what happened...' As Asad continued to talk Zoya just sat there starring at him, who was this guy, there was no way this could be the same Asad Ahmed Khan that she was at logger heads with from the minute she met him.
Zoya felt her heart flutter, his hold on her hand his moistened eyes and soft voice was driving her crazy, she couldn't understand what was going on with every word he spoke Zoya felt another knot tie in her stomach, tears started to prick her eyes and she didn't know why. Not being able to take what was happening to her she covered Asad's mouth with her hand to get to stop talking 'Mr Khan...stop...I...' Zoya wasn't sure what she wanted to say to him, she felt an urge to hug me, her thoughts were as clear as mud she was finding it hard to understand her own emotions right now. Just then the door opened, it was Dr Rao and a nurse, slightly grateful for the interruption Zoya greeted the doctor 'Mr Khan, the nurse will take you to your room, I just need to check over Miss Farooqui' Zoya looked at Asad as their eyes met she felt a cold breeze brush over her 'does he have to go?' 'do I have to go?' They both said at the same time, where Asad looked at Zoya with a smile Zoya looked away not knowing where that came from 'I don't mind...it's entirely up to you' Dr Rao said.
'Ummm Mr Khan...once I finish I'll come to you' not wanting to increase her discomfort Asad agreed, and was then taken to his room. 'I heard you fell unconscious again' Dr Rao asked her as he looked through her notes 'what is the last thing you remember?' Zoya started to fidget with her hands. Dr Rao sat down 'it's ok Zoya, you can tell me...I need to know' Zoya pushed back the lock of hair that had fallen over her eyes 'doctor...um...this is going to sound strange...but I promise you I'm not...I'm not crazy' Zoya started to hesitate, she wasn't able to make out what was happening herself how was she going to explain it to Dr Rao. 'I feel like I am lost...things around me seem different...they are not like I remember them...and for the past two days I keep hearing these voices...' 'What kind of voices, what do they say to you?' Zoya took in a deep breath 'it's just one voice...and as crazy as it sounds I swear to you...the voice that I hear is Mr Khan's...I know it's not possible but it's true' Dr Rao continued to listen to what Zoya was saying, as she spoke he took note of what she was hearing. 'Am I going mad...I am I schizophrenic or something?' 'No Miss Farooqui, not at all, I would like to carry out an MRI scan, I will book you in for tomorrow morning' 'does that mean I have to stay here longer?' Zoya asked looking rather sad 'just one more day, then I promise I will let you go home, I am going to ask the nurse to give you an injection, it will help you sleep better'.
Dr Rao went to see Asad, he told him exactly what Zoya had said 'doctor, she hears my voice saying things to her...what she hears is not random, they are things I have said to her in conversation...does that mean...' 'Yes Asad it does, it means that her sub conscious mind is filtering through small pockets of the memory she has locked away...although it is making her question her own sanity, this is a good thing...once I get the MRI done and we have the all clear I thing that under the supervision of one of our psychiatrists we can make attempts to tell her what has happened' Asad closed his eyes 'thank you Allah, thank you for showing me the light, the light that will lead me back to my Zoya'.
Zoya woke up to the sun's rays beaming through the blinds as she stretched her arms and legs out she noticed a bag on the side 'Phoopi' she said as she jumped out of the bed. Najma and Dilshad were sitting with Asad 'Phoopi...Najma...' Zoya shouted as she came running in she hugged them both with such enthusiasm 'I missed you so much' Najma stated to laugh 'Zoya it hasn't even been twelve hours since we last saw you' 'I know...but still' Zoya said pulling a baby face. Diverting her attention to Asad she walked up to him 'thank you for yesterday Mr Khan...um how are you feeling?' Asad who was sitting up on his bed smiled at her 'I am well...getting better inshAllah will be able to go home soon' 'yay...me too, Phoophi Dr Rao said I have one more night then can go home...isn't that great?' Dilshad hugged Zoya 'come, I have brought some of your things, let's get you showered and changed'.
