Vikrant did a fab job in Lootera, he balanced the heavy duty story and characters with his touch of lightness in his character. His character was needed for this equilibrium and I must say, he did an amazing job as Deb. His Dev Anand "thumkas" were to die for.
He is also brings a freshness to Ayaan making him a lot more than just tolerable. No doubt in the fact that he is a very good actor which is much needed when the show has such a talented star cast. He also manages to make the parallel track(s) tolerable.
As for Lootera, I loved it. It's a really nice film that doesn't try too hard (like a lot of S.L. Bhansali's latest works) yet finds its way to charm you into falling in love with it. The director and actors succeeded in making the characters memorable and the cinematography was also commendable. It had a nice "thairav" to it as they say. Loosely based on the "The Last Leaf" by O. Henry, Lootera is a little short of a masterpiece but definitely a memorable film in Bollywood. Ranveer Singh is an artist amongst Bollywood's actors.
(But it's not for everyone, I'm warning you right now someone who's used to unhealthy and street "masala" movies with absolutely no quality but endless item songs and an unintelligent script will find the story slow, boring, and useless. Unfortunately after movies like Housefull and Ready grossing ridiculous amounts at the box office, it saddens me to say that Lootera probably won't make it big in the box office.)
Anyways I thought I'd share that with you all, but be your own judge.
