What makes a show a hit?

Many of you are upset with the recent split but what you do not realize that a lot of people enjoy watching shows that offer loads of drama and separating two characters often adds the drama necessary to generate high trps. Sappy love stories can only last so long; you cannot run a show on a couple constantly falling into each other's arms and staring at each other. There is a dearth of dialogue when it comes to portraying romances in India. Characters fall in love very fast including Asad and Zoya. Yes. While they never confessed their love for each other, Asad fell in love with Zoya six months ago and Zoya had feelings for Asad in March.

The writers have managed to prolong this whole romance rather successfully but they've reached a stage where they had to separate them. I knew this would happen as Mamsy and I had skyped with the writer of the show to set up a forth coming interview and one of the hints she gave us was the inevitable separation of the characters - we just didn't know when she'd do it.

India shows thrive on it - Qubool Hai is a love story - it might be a story about two families but what drives it are Asad and Zoya - face it, how many of you look forward to watching Nikhat, Imran or even Dilshaad- Rashid romance? None of you...so bear in mind, if you bring them together, it is "The End" and people will not tune in to watch the show.

So check out the ratings of 3.4, only .3 behind the top show...and understand it was essential.

k fine we understand this seperation was necessary and were not denying it...but why cant indian shows do it in a logical manner? asad shown to be so dumb- illogical...tannus entire plan and TRACK- illogical...dragged...ANNOYING...nobody using their brains- ILLOGICAL.

so does this mean tht asad-zoya rnt getting married till the show ends? i dnt think we wanna watch tht...they can hv a marriage and there can still be a lot done...like KSG said...alot can be done but nobody wants to experiment they wanna do the same old same old...in pyaar ka dard hai...there trps r always SO HIGH...leads r together in tht no??? we wanna see asad zoya together...romance...bickering...drama...heartbreak..all of tht whtevz it is but just ASAD-ZOYA TOGETHER...not every luv story in the world is a luv triangle u know...and k seperation is necessary...but wht abt re-union?? asya hvnt even confessed yet and its 200 episodes...and if gul ji luvs seperation will we get asya in this lifetime???

i hope indian shows FOR ONCE do smthing different. i had expectations frm QH to be different- cuz trust me itlll work...QH has the potential. but i guess cvs dont see tht..or want to see tht maybe?

Frankly Laila, I am not upset about the separation at all. AsYa are the OTP so they will get together tomorrow or even two years from now and frankly that doesn't bother me. What does bother me is the fact that the writers are treating their viewers like idiots. I understand there is a large section of the audience that does watch this show solely for AsYa but I don't. I watch it for a story told with some semblance of logic. And contrary to what Gul and Mrinal believe Tanveer has no logic as character and AG cannot act.

Tanveer has no back story. As an viewer I can't understand or even sympathize with her motive. The fact that she is harming her childhood friends for something Razia and co spewed at her baffles me. She wants to avenge herself but uses the very woman who insulted her to do it. The character has lost focus of what she wants to achieve. When Nisha was playing her you got the feeling that she truly cared about her kid but that story seems to have fallen through pretty quick. So, now you basically have a woman committing psychopathic acts with no explanation and frankly while it may make good tv for an audience that has no brains it annoys me.

Tanveer was always going to play the sex and kid card but when the writers knew that Tanveer was pivotal to their plot the least they could have done is tell/show us her motive.

I hope you do take this to Mrinal because she needs to hear it - As a writer she has failed to give a valid characterization to Tanveer and instead of the character being someone the audience loves to hate...we or at least I just hate her. Massive, writing gaffe.

Edit:

I loved yesterday's episode though...definite improvement. It was an absolute pleasure to not have to see Amrapali ham it up on screen. I have a half a mind to send some money to that woman and beg her to take some acting classes.

Agree with you.. I have no problem in separation track.. But I always had problem with "Tanveer" character..Her character is very vague..She came as Razia's spy, wanted to kill Khans, then to take revenge she wanted to marry Asad.. I dont know is it for child or herself..CV's should have shown her going to hospital, talking herself about how much she cares for her own child..It would have make some impact to her story.. Even after AsYa marriage is fixed, she was never clear about what she wants..One day she just wanted to kill Zoya, and very next moment her plans get changed completely and she wanted to gain sympathy by hurting herself..Her dialogues never went with her actions..Once she said, u enjoy all rituals but i will marry Asad..Then suddenly she said next time u get marry I wil consummate..And finally we all know what she did...

Neither dialogues nor her actions explains this character..

The writers basically don't know themselves. The should have stuck to their original storyline by having Tanveer seduce Asad in March/April, not show any development between Asad and Zoya and then had a ZoYaan marriage. I understand that actors leaving and falling sick causes complications but they could have dealt with it better. Now, Tanveer is just a badly written character and ZoYaan should it happen is a slap in the face for all characters involved...especially Zoya.

exactly...tanveers character in the show...currently is the most ridiculous thing ever...it is COMPLETELY ruining the show...if she did want the whole baby thing it shudve happened way BEFORE...and zoyaan at this stage is like the sky turning pink with yellow polka dots thts how ridiculous tht is...at this point there can be no jaanu or zoyaan...TANNU NEEDS TO LEAVE...hatred for her is unbearable now!!!!!! AG makes it worse! at this point after the seperation..only an asya re-union makes sense...where they r actually TOGETHER...as a COUPLE...in LUV and hopefully married! but frst and foremost...tannu needs to leave!

I have always been in favor of a separation. But like members above have already pointed out, it is the character of 'Tanveer' that is the real problem.

Her presence has really deteriorated the logic in this show.

Not only that, she hogs the screen-space, the dialogues and the brains of all the characters collectively 🤢

Oh yeah, and Amrapali can't act.

I have not been posting anything on the forum ever since this SR track has started. But since you seem to have access to the writers, I am sharing my opinion in the hope that some of my opinions will be passed on to them.

I for starters, agree with kankhabor and have no issues with a separation track. I have always maintained that the leads fell in love too easily, and it was important to develop their understanding and trust in each other.

But the way this separation has been introduced has been totally pathetic. Everyone has been dumbed down, and as already been highlighted several times by everyone on this forum, Tanveer's character over glorified. She is present everywhere, anywhere, anytime,everytime... has all sorts of potions, over hears every conversation... in a house that is not even her own.

Zoya decides not to give any credit to her SR warnings, because she trusts her love.

Then, when it finally appears to happen, she just leaves, everyone without any information about herself. She does not care about Dilshaad, who sided with her and slapped her own son. Neither about her Aapi who has been her only family all this while.

Asad, lets not even get started. He has no doubt on Tanveer at all, despite his own, very love doubting her and even mentioning it to him.

Dilshaad, warns Tanveer to understand her ishaara, but Tanveer is still staying in that house for a month. Who on earth lets a woman who caused their son's wedding to ruin and their DIL to go missing stay in their house without questioning her motives? Why has anyone not kicked her out, or for that matter proposed marriage for Asad? I know, I dont want that to happen, but well they just slept with each other on the day of Asad's Nikaah...so logically there has to be some reason for them to do so right? If its just a mistake, a moment of weakness, do they plan to let Tanveer still stay there and remind them of the hurtful night forever? If it was intentional, do they just ignore it?

Tanveer's character has so many loopholes. She has so many secrets... She came as a spy, wants to avenge Razia who almost calls her a wh**e, but ends up taking her help to bed Asad and guess what, she proved that she is just that - the blame that Razia put on her : *That type of a woman*.

If and when Tanveer will be exposed, I am sorry to say, it will not be because Asad grew some brains, but because he will witness with his own eyes, that she was trying to harm Zoya. So the whole question about missing trust? No one cares. And in one episode, everything will be over... All the four months of wrong doings and none of it will be exposed.

Zoya does not even care that Tanveer lives in this house and is after Asad not for love, but money. She could have atleast warned someone of Tanveer's intentions. Her not doing so is so out of her character.

I wonder why the writers are hell bent on ruining something that was so beautiful and pure, and their own creation.

I can go on and on about logic, etc., but that would mean, I repeat what I have been saying through some 400+ posts in the recent times.

Well yes the TRPs increased, but I think the flavor of the serial is lost for me and many others. We watched all of last week because we hopped Asad or someone will grow some brains. But seeing only evil win one more time, was the nail in the coffin for me. Specially today. I was upset that Asad even rbought Tanu home, but to see and know that she still stays in Khan mansion... well... what more should I say?

I agree with everyone here. I am fine with everything in the show except Tanveer. She boils my blood and I feel like breaking my screen every time she comes on. Amrapalli isn't helping with her bad acting! I'm actually loving the separation track and the way it's executed. I just cannot take Tanveer. i want her out SO BAD! I'm just hoping her pregnancy drama gets dealt with by the end of next week and then after Ajmer track she gets revealed and kicked out! She's extremely annoying to watch. I have no other problem with the show!

I really dont think Zoyaan now fits anywhere.. Asad and Zoya are hopelessly in love with each other.. They are lifeless without each other, can Zoya ever be normal with Ayaan where she wil have to face Asad everyday? Any stupid person can sense their love... Asad making sacrifice is also not making any sense.. Zoya wont be Zoya, Asad wont be Asad if Zoyaan happens , how can Ayaan or anyone ignore their behavior.. What they have shown today, after that they just can not be normal without each other.
