First thing, agreed, Asad didn't deserve this.
Second thing, Asad good have been given a good jolt in some other way like Tanveer putting Zoya's life in danger. Even that would have been a grand lesson.
Third thing, how do we know he has been taught a lesson? He has been punished for his error in judgement, but does he know that he has made error in judgement? I don't think so. Who knows he may be running after Zoya to ask for her fogiveness and tell her to move on so that he can come back and do his duty - that is to give "justice" to Tanveer for the "wrong" that he has done.
So, other than generating TRPs, nothing much happened from story point of view. This track wasn't need of the story, but need to get more TRPs. Period.
One thing that is possible is this is how Rashid was trapped. Razia did the same thing with Rashid and made him sleep with Shireen. She brainwashed Shireen that this is the only way to get her "love" and this is how Ayaan came into being. So, Rashid hopefully should get what is going on immediately. Alas, hope - hope is cowering in the corner and refuses to come out at this juncture!
