THE SHEIKH'S PROPOSAL
The sun beat down feverishly on the quaint yet picturesque city of Amistad. The air was baked with the intense heat and the wind played with the palm fronds that were the characteristics of deserts.
A young girl in her early twenties stepped out into the harsh outrage of the sun, abandoning the chilled relief of the airport. She gulped in the bone dry air savouring the heated environ. A bird screeched as it soared high up in the sky the proverbial 'As free as a bird' holding true for its enviable flight.
Zoya smiled as she watched the bird spread its wings proudly and fly towards the blazing sun. Though she did have wings which she could spread and let herself lift up to proclaim her new found freedom, the lightness in her heart and peace in her mind did wonders and lifted up her soul to heights as high as the bird had touched.
To her this desert with its sweltering air, countless sand dunes and vast stretches of golden sand dotted with xerophytes was no less than heavenly haven.
This was her heaven where she finally could breathe with ease, where all her shackles had been melted away by the sun gifting her, her long lost freedom.

His captivating eyes glazed over the sprawling city that lay under the blistering sun. His muscled arms gripped the beautifully craved railing of his private balcony as he relished the air of the city.
His city.
Asad Ahmad Khan was the first son of the current Sheikh Rashid Ahmad Khan and his wife Dilshad Ahmad Khan. That made him in line to be the next Sheikh of Amistad. So needless to say, he was the dream of every girl in Amistad and the fervent wish of their mothers.
Asad was perfect in every way, from his deep eyes and each muscled bulge on his body to his sharp intelligence and extreme capability to handle the daily affairs of the country.
Apart from Asad; Rashid and Dilshad had two more kids; Asad's younger brother Ayaan and his sister Najma who was the youngest child in the family.
Asad's parents had a love marriage and wanted their children's lives to be as happy and content as theirs.
But Asad did not believe in love even though his parents were the epitome of pure, sacred love. He believed that love was just a trap set by the world and that people who fell in it would lose everything. And Asad was not a loser.
Though he saw and acknowledged the love between his parents he felt they were one of the lucky couples. Secretly he felt the love only weakened people and made them helpless. He knew that the day anything happened to either of them, the other would go insane with grief. Such was the power of love. And Asad was did not want any such power to conquer him.
He was determined that he would never lose to an emotion as fickle as love.
PS - And I had to write this or I would not have my peace of mind...this wl be an ss..something lighthearted very different from my FF Dark Passion. I hope you liked it!
