Hello people,
Another Random One Shot on AsYa's married life 😃
He smiled despite himself as he glanced towards the overcast sky while getting out of his SUV and shutting the door behind him. The dark gray clouds and the refreshingly cool breeze provided a much needed change from the scorching heat of July and nothing lifted his mood like a good weather. And what better way to spend this beautiful day than being with his beautiful wife.
He entered the house and quickly deposited his briefcase and coat on the sofa before going in search for her, loosening his tie and found her in the kitchen as expected.
"Zoya?" he called out and she turned around to face him, a 100 watt smile immediately adorning her face on seeing him and he found himself smiling back reflexively.
"You're home already?" She beamed at him.
He nodded, a soft smile lighting his face as took her hand, saying, "Chalo!"
"Chalo? Where?" Zoya asked confused.
"Somewhere outside to enjoy this weather," He replied simply.
"Like now?"
"Yep! Any problem with that?" He asked nonchalantly.
"No, but Asad you just got home from office. You must be tired. Take some rest for a while." She told him.
"No, we're going right now," He replied back adamantly.
"Ok fine" She laughed. "Just let me go and change." She replied, moving towards their room but winding an arm around her waist, Asad stopped her.
"No need for that. You're looking perfect as it is. Just..." He trailed off as he reached behind her and took her clip-jaw out of her hair, letting them hang loose. "Perfect," He said, smiling his eye-crinkling deep smile.
"But... What about my clothes?" Zoya stammered, blushing a little. Asad's proximity and romantic mood always made her feel flustered, like a teenage girl with her first crush. It was something she could never get used to. "What will people think?" She continued, waving towards her casual jeans and a loose shirt. "I should change into something better."
"Mrs. Khan, I think you should only be concerned about what your husband thinks and if he thinks you look gorgeous in anything you wear then I believe, you shouldn't worry about what other people might think." He replied in a playful, serious tone, his eyes twinkling.
"Ok Fine, Mr. Stubborn Khan," She said smiling, her cheeks flushing at his flattering comment as she let him take her hand and pull her out the front door.
Asad opened the passenger door for her and she beamed at him as she seated inside and rolled down her window as soon as the car pulled out of the driveway, causing Asad to look at her and smiling amusedly, "Zoya, the AC is on."
"So?" She raised her eyebrows.
"So that means you don't have to roll down the window," He replied.
"What's the fun in that? We're going to enjoy the weather, aren't we? Tell you what? Turn off the AC and roll down your window too," She said excitedly.
"What? But Zoya, there's so much dust outside..." He tried only to cut off by her.
"Just do it!" she said and Asad did as he was told, rolling down the window and finding himself smiling as the refreshingly cool breeze blew into his face and played with his hair and he had to admit, it did feel awesome. He turned to look at Zoya who just said smugly, "Told you."
"Any idea where we're heading to?" She asked.
"Nope... I was just in the mood to spend time with you so I kidnapped you before my family could butt in. Do you want to go somewhere special? Have any place in mind?"
"No? Just keep driving. It's lovely like this."
Asad smiled nodding. He felt exactly the same. They went quiet for a while, silently looking out of the window, enjoying the weather and each other's company. It had started raining lightly and small droplets sprayed on their faces as the wind blew in.
Zoya's occasionally giggling sound filled the car as she enjoyed the beautiful weather. When suddenly she yelled excitedly, "Stop Asad!"
Asad instantly obeyed and then turned to look towards his wife, his eye brows raised in questioning.
"Gol Gappay!" She just exclaimed pointing towards a near-by road stall and Asad couldn't help the chuckle that escaped his mouth on seeing his wife's excitement.
"Zoya, I don't think they're clean. I'll get you some from some nice shop."
"No Asad. Roadside food is the best! I want to have them. Please?" She made her famous puppy dog expression and he smiled giving in.
She jumped out and he followed, an amused smile lighting his face when Zoya grabbed his arm and literally towed him towards the stall on finding him not moving fast enough.
"Two plates of Gol Gappay's please," she ordered and then stood tapping her foot impatiently as the man quickly prepared the given order.
She stuffed one in her mouth as soon as the man handed her the plate and Asad burst out laughing on seeing her wide eyes and bulging mouth. She forcibly chewed it down, her eyes watering, "Asad, these are amazing! Have some." She told him with a full mouth.
"No thanks. I don't think I can eat like this." He laughed as she popped another one in her mouth but stopped the next moment as Zoya stuffed one in his mouth too and then started laughing hysterically on seeing his shocked expression before he joined in.
They stood there at the roadside, stuffing Gol Gappay's in each others mouth, laughing their head off and thoroughly enjoying themselves. People passing by, smiled at the heart-warming sight this couple created; sometimes politely eating out of each other's hand and sometimes, being chased and forcibly shoved down their mouths. Their care-free laugher echoing around, making people believe that true love still existed. But this couple seemed oblivious to the world around them. They were lost in their own small world.
Finally done with eating and still laughing lightly, Asad and Zoya started moving towards the car when suddenly without warning, it started raining heavily and instinctively Asad made to move towards the shelter but Zoya held his arm, a mischievous smile on her face as she reminded him, "We're here to enjoy the weather, remember?"
Asad scrunched his eyes up as the rain pelted on his head in a rhythmic fashion and ran down his face and neck. Zoya's face was glowing as she twirled happily, her arms stretched, facing the skies.
"Asad?" Zoya called loudly, above the sound of the pattering of rain drops.
"Yes," He almost yelled.
"I have a brilliant idea!
"What?"
"Let's walk home in the rain!" She positively shouted, her eyes dancing.
"What? Are you serious?"
"Never been more serious in my life," She grinned.
"But what about my car? I can't just leave it here." Asad told her and made his way towards it. Zoya's face fell as she followed suit but was surprised when Asad got his cell phone from the car and asked the driver to come and take the car home.
"Ready to walk home in this rain, Mrs. Khan?" He asked with a lovingly and mischievous smile and Zoya just gave him a dazzling smile before jumping on him for a hug squealing, "Oh I love you so very much Mr. Khan!"
Asad smiled a smile of pure blissfulness as he linked his arm with his darling wife's and started for home in the drenching rain, already soaked to the bone.
Asad had realized this after getting married to Zoya that happiness doesn't lie in huge, extravagant things, rather it lies in the small things around us. Looking back, he realized that the million dollar deals he was so proud of making, never made him smile, but these small moments with Zoya... they always did.
THE END
P.S. The part where Asad comes home and asks Zoya to come with him was inspired from a scene in Humsafar. I'm sure all the Humsafar fans have already figured it out 😆
