Part IV: Operation Billo Rani started

I am back. Sorry for the late update as I have been traveling…hope the gap does not curb the enthusiasm.

Week later: Breakfast at the Khan's

A week had elapsed since Gayatri's aka Gee's arrival. During this time Dilshad and Najma loved her and she did them. Asad welcomed her presence as she was fun and mature. In her, he saw a friend. Also Zoya had reduced her time with Danny which made Asad feel better. The Khan's were having breakfast with Tanveer and Gayatri. Zoya and her Appi had stepped out.

D-G: How long have you and Zoya known each other?

G to all: For long as I can remember. Zoya's ammi and my mom were friends; hence, Zee and I went to the same school. I still remember the first time Zoya stepped into our class; she had the most endearing smile. Since then, she and I were friends. We shared all our secrets, our pain, our happiness et all. The only thing I could not share with Zoya was her ammi's death. If my memory serves right, Zoya's ammi and Zee visited India to meet her dad. When school opened after summer, Zoya was missing. I was devastated; hence, my parents enquired about her. The next thing we heard that was aunty was dead and Zoya was in a foster home. My parents were shocked and pained as Zoya had become their daughter. My appa loved and still loves Zee as his daughter. If Zeenat appi had not adopted Zee, my parents would have. There was no way in hell appa would have allowed Zoya to be in misery. When Zoya left for India, she was happy but on return she was silent and in a shell. It took us three months to get Zoya to say a word and another year to speak. We were dying to hear the old Zoya. As the saying goes Time is the best healer and Zee forgot her past. But for all the love, Zoya still felt something amiss: the need to be rooted to a family. She wanted to know her father. When Zoya decided to look for him, appa lost his cool as he was hurt. To him, he is Zoya's father. Zoya convinced him and he agreed. He could never say no to Zee. If Zoya's abbu's were to face Zoya's appa, appa would win hands down.

On hearing this Dilshad and Najma had tears. Asad was stunned, moved and pained. Ms.Farroukhi had been through so much yet she was so chirpy and vibrant. Dilshad was convinced that she had made the right choice for Asad.

Tannu watched Asad's reactions and was angry. In this anger, she missed Gayatri's stare. Tannu's ways were known to Gayatri. Unlike Zoya, Gayatri was on par in deviousness and impishness.

Gayatri decided to bait Tanveer in front of all.

G-T: Tanveer, why are you staring at Asad? It seems like you are unhappy about the niiikah.

T-G: No. I am happy that Asad is happy. Why do you ask? Zoya is like a sister to me

G-T: Thank God. You know I have seen so many girlfriends get weird when their male friends get married. I am so happy to hear that Zoya is a like a sister to you. Hmmm, does that make Asad your brother in law??

Gayatri smiled and Tanveer chose to evade the question.

Asad wanted to get to know Gayatri better so he asked about Gayatri and her family.

G-A: My parents are doctors and have been in New York for long. I have two brothers and now am married to an American. His name is Damian and he is Daniel's elder brother. Daniel is in love with Zoya ad Damian is Zoya's rakhi brother. I have another brother in law called Derek. So, if Zoya gets hurt, not one but there are three families that will retaliate. Watch out Asad.

Asad was stunned. Gee laughed and assured that she was teasing him. But yes, Zoya's enemies would be crushed if they hurt her. Her brothers and Daniel would pounce and pulverize Zoya's enemies. And if they were not enough then there is Dr. Subramanium to remove the brains as he is a neuro surgeon. (Gayatri smiled at her plan as there was no character called Daniel. He was a figment of her imagination and was being played by Damian).

The subtle warning hit the nail in the person's head. Tanveer realized that she had to be more careful as Zoya was not alone.

Just then Zoya and her appi walked in. Asad was so happy to see her. He was missing her, her laughter and silly poems. He realized that he could not stay away from her even for a minute. He wanted to tell his Ammi to pre-pone the nikah.

Zoya looked at Mr.Khan and smiled. She had missed him. She hated the fact that she had to spend time away from him but she was helpless in front of Gee and her plans. She smiled at the thought of her nikah and wanted to tell phupi to pre-pone it.

Appi and Dilshad got talking about the nikah, Najma received a call and Tanveer stepped out. Gee wanted to give Asad and Zoya time so she joined Appi and Dil Aunty.

A-Z: Ms. Farroukhi, are you free tonight? I wanted to take you out for dinner.

Zoya surprised.

Z-A: Mr. Khan, I, I, I cannot.

A-Z: Why not? Are you busy with something or someone?

Z-A: Yeah! I am supposed to help Daniel with his clothes for our nikah. He wanted to wear something of my choice.

Asad was pissed and frustrated at the Danish intrusion. He had to get Zoya to cancel it.

A-Z: Ms. Farroukhi, actually I needed your help on something too?

Z-A: Oh! So, the dinner was an afterthought (Zoya was upset and hurt).

A-Z: Ms. Farroukhi dinner is not an afterthought. It is a bribe. Please let me complete on my request before you start pouncing on me.

Zoya nodded.

A-Z: Ms. Farroukhi, will you help me pick my reception dress. I am confused between Indian and Western. I wanted to wear something of your choice. As you know Ammi has made our nikah clothes. Will you?

Z-A: Mr. Khan, on one condition. Will you help me pick up my reception attire? I wanted to wear something of your choice.

Asad agreed and smiled. Zoya agreed and smiled. Unknown to them Gayatri smiled.
