"Hey you. Kaun ho tum," Zoya called out as she saw the dark hooded Tanveer walking towards the fence. Tanveer took a sharp intake of breath as she heard Zoya's voice behind her and picked up her pace and began to walk faster.
Noticing the quickened steps, Zoya began to run after the cloaked figure only to realize that he or she was headed towards the fence. She caught up with Tanveer and grasped her arm. But, Billo Rani was not one to be caught easily without a struggle. She began squirming like a worm in Zoya's grasp and rejoiced when she felt Zoya's grip loosen. She quickly leaped over the fence with her elbow hitting Zoya square in the face. As Zoya was recovering from that blow, Tanveer decided to give her one more and quickly picked up some dirt from the ground. She flung it at Zoya as ran away.
"Allah miyan, what's wrong with you?!?! Yeh tumne kya kiya? Kaun ho tum? Owww. It's burning. Mr. Khan! Mr. Khan!" Zoya began to scream at the top of her lungs. A worried Asad, who had been looking for Tanveer for quite some time now, stepped outside as he heard his lady love's voice. His heart sank as he saw Zoya doubled over in pain.
"ZOYAAA," Asad screamed as he sprinted towards her. "Kya hua? Tum teekh toh ho," he asked worriedly.
"Allah miyan, what's wrong with you Mr. Khan. Do I look alright?! Owww, it's burning," Zoya cried as tears began making their way down her face.
"Zoya, batao toh. Hua kya hai?" Asad asked even more worried.
"Woh, meine kisi ko yaha dekha tha aur mein ne uska peecha kiya. Meine pakar bhi liya tha, lekin ussne mujhe elbow kiya aur phir mujh par dirt throw kiya," Zoya said, still wiping her eyes.
"Chalo mere saath," Asad said, a bit calmed down now. He took her hands off of her eyes and led her towards the house. As they made their towards the double doors which led inside, Zoya tripped over the threshold, and fell directly into Asad's arms. Asad picked Zoya up and carried her into the bathroom in his room. He placed her in front of the sink as he turned it on. He cupped the water in his hand and lightly splashed it into Zoya's eyes, trying to relieve her of the burning sensation.
"Ab kaisa hai?" Asad asked as Zoya began to open her eyes extremely wide and then shut them again repeatedly. Asad smiled at her cuteness and stopped her hand as it made its way towards her eyes again. He inched a bit closer and began to blow into her eyes making Zoya's breaths quicken. Asad noticed the sudden change in her and smiled as he stopped blowing into her eyes. He grabbed her by the waist and moved his mouth closer to her ears. Zoya closed her eyes as she felt his lips softly touch her ears.
"Zoya," he whispered, "Mein tumse yeh kehna chatha hoon, ki... mein tumse mohabbat karta hoon." Asad inwardly gave a sigh of relief as he finally let out what he had wanted to say for days now.
"I love you Zoya Farooqi. Kya tum mujhse nikkah karogi? Nakli nahi, par asli?" he asked as he stepped back to gauge her reaction.
Zoya kept her eyes closed, not believing her ears. Had her Akdu Ahmed Khan finally revealed his feelings to her? He didn't break up with her? This emotionally challenged man confessed that he loved her?
"Zoya?" Asad said her name hesitantly as she didn't respond.
"Ji," Zoya said regaining her composure as she opened her eyes slowly.
"I love you," Asad said again.
"Allah miyaan, what's wrong with you Mr. Khan. Aap ko itney din laag ge yeh kehney mein?!? Aap mujhe pehle nahi keh saktey thae? Mujhe laaga aap mere saath break up karna chahthey hai," Zoya stated as she glared at her to-be-husband.
"Woh… actually," Asad stammered.
"Allah miyaan. Not again," as she stomped out of the bathroom.
"Lekin aapne mujhse toh 'I love you'…" Asad called out.
Zoya made a reappearance at the entrance of the bathroom.
"Ab aap wait kijye. Jaise meine kiya tha. You emotionally-challenged man. Hmph," Zoya said as she stomped out leaving Asad smiling.
"Ab toh mein tumarhi puri zindagi intezaar kar sakta hoon," Asad said to himself grinning ear to ear.
And yet again, the infamous bathroom was witness to another special moment in the lives of Asad Ahmed Khan and his soon to be wife.
** This is my first attempt at writing a Asya OS. Please forgive any mistakes, especially those concerning my Hindi. I'm actually Punjabi so whatever Hindi I've learned, its from being glued to the TV screen watching Hindi soap operas. 😆
