Holaaa Ladies! I was bored so I decided to write a one shot, but then I got so into it that it turned out to be way longer than I expected, since I randomly thought of cute moments that should happen between AsYa as I was writing. So I am going to divide it into a few parts! It is the same time as the current track in QH, and its about how Billo Rani gets busted! Lemme know what you think! See you on the other sideee! :)
Part 1- BelowPart 2-Page 3: https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/post/81952320Part 3-Page 10: https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/post/82030275Zoya's POV"Mr. Khan!" I said as I opened his slightly ajar door and stepped into his pristine room.
"Ms. Farouqi. How many times have I told you to knock before you walk into a room." He yelled blushing, the man was shirtless... again. I think he had a thing against wearing shirts, not that I minded because that is one sexy body he has there. Looking at him shirtless makes me want to just touch his biceps, his triceps, and his abs, Allah Miaa, his abs were so perfect, they could probably cut diamonds. I wanted to just lic-
"You have a little bit of drool on the side of your mouth there." Jahapana smirked while putting on his shirt.
"Woh... nahin, mein aapke biceps, triceps nahi dekh rahi thi, aapka sex... I mean six, six pack bhi nahi dekh rahi thi." I said, well tried to say. This man's body did some weird voodoo on me, my mouth just freezes up when he takes off his shirt. Why is he putting his shirt back on? Nahiii, yeh naynsafi hai! It should be illegal for this man to wear a shirt.
"Aap mujhe dekhne aaye hai yah koi kaam bhi tha?" He said crossing his arms in front of me.
"Don't flatter yourself Mr. Khan, even if you are eye candy ' I mean if I wanted to ogle someone I would go google pictures of Hrithik Roshan or something." I said rolling my eyes. "Now, those are abs." I said jibing him, he looked angry. Ooo, Jahapana doesn't like being compared to other men.
"Aapko aisi baate karte sharam nahi aati?" He questioned.
"Is mein sharam ki kya baat hai? Allah nai usko dekhne kai liye hi banaya hai, aur mere paas ankhein hai usko dekhne kai liye..." I said stating the obvious.
"What do you want Ms. Farouqi?" He said pinching his nose, ah, his signature move. Oh, how I love annoying him, he looks so cute when he is angry. Like a little kitty pretending to be a lion. Haaa! I should tell him that, he'd be so mad.
"Before I was so rudely interrupted." He gave me an exasperated look as I talked. "I was going to ask you if you've noticed something weird going on around the house?"
"Ms. Farouqi." I honestly don't know why he calls me that, I am his fiance after all, and Zoya sounds way better coming from his lips. His very kissable lips. "You live in this house, thus everything IS weird." he said.
"HAHA, you are sooo funny Mr. Khan. Seriously though, for once apna dimag use kijiye." I teased, he gave me that look again, where his eyes kind of roll back. I think its cute. Well, everything this man does is cute, or hot or sexy.
"What do you mean Ms. Farouqi?" he sounded confused, aw my shona baby.
"I don't know how to say this... don't get mad okay? I said sheepishly. He just looked at me. "You have to promise me first Mr. Khan! Whenever I say something you get mad, and kick me out and then realize that you are wrong and come running after me like a mad man because you DO care. "
"Ms. Farouqi, I don't have time for this. Can you get to the point? I will try not to get mad." He said sitting down on his bed.
" Well, have you noticed that Tanveer is acting...weird? Like suspicious?" I said really quickly and waited for his response.
"Ms. Farouqi, just because you are weird doesn't mean that everyone else is." He said getting up and walking away.
"Mr. Khan, can you listen to me for just once?" I said grabbing his hand, of course all of a sudden I forgot what I was going to say because I felt my hands tingling, like a bolt of electricity running through me and my skin warmed. He didn't say anything but just stared at me, the looks this man gives me confuse the hell out of me. When he looks at me like that I feel like he does care for me, maybe even loves me.
"Everything is weird these days, Ammi insisting we get married in ten days, your mood swings..." He said when I interrupted him.
"MY MOOD SWINGS? You are the bipolar one here. 'Oh Zoya mat jao, ab yeh meri mangetar hai aur mujhe inko rokne ka pura haq hai and then 'yeh sab drama tha, I didn't mean it."
"Zoya- can you tell me what you came in here to tell me?"
"Fine. Do you remember how the other day, at the airport, when you- um you know." I smiled, he looked down, the man is blushing. Awww. Stop getting side tracked Zoya! "Mr. Bha-Bha-Whatever was saying that some girl kept calling him over and over again telling them about our fake engagement. I was thinking about it. No one knew about the engagement but Ammi, Najma, Tanu and us." Why do I like the way "us" sounds so much?
"What are you implying? That Tanu was the one calling?" He asked like I was crazy.
"Well yeah, who else would? Najma wouldn't, Ammi wouldn't and no one else knew..." I reasoned.
"Miss. Farouqi, aap ki tabiyat theek hai?" He questioned.
"Mr. Khan, think about it. How else would Mr. Whatever find out?" Of course he wouldn't believe me, his precious Tanu couldn't be questioned.
"You are just jealous of her."
"Excuse me! Why would I be jealous of her?" I yelled, well I kind of was, but I'd never admit it to him. He tells her everything, but he won't talk to me. Jammy this, Jammy that, how dare she call him Jammy? And she can call him Asad. And he doesn't call her Miss Whatever her last name is.
"Of course you are not Miss Kyun aap sirf Tanu kai haath ke bana khana khate hai?"
"That was a question, no jealousy there."
"Miss. Farouqi, you are wasting my time. Stop accusing the poor girl." Mr. Khan said trying to walk away again.
"Allah Miaaa, what's wrong with you Mr. Khan? I wouldn't question her either if I didn't have a reason. Come with me." I said grabbing his hand and running to the living room. Grabbing his hand was a frequent occurrence now. I slid in front of the phone and pressed the play button for the messages.
"Listen."
"Tanveer Bi, mein master ji bol raha hoon. Bas aapko batana tha ki Mr. Abbas ka order nikal chukka hai, or uski payment bhi aagye hai. Aur Annaya Bi ka order bhi tayar hai lekin woh aapse pehle baat karna chahti hain. Factory mein sab kheriyat hai ' BEEP." The end of his sentence got cut out since it was too long.
"But Tanveer nai to kaha tha ki-." Mr. Khan stated in disbelief.
"Factory jal gayi thi." I finished.
A shocked Mr. Khan sat down on the couch. I sat down beside him waiting for him to process what he had heard.
"But why would she lie about that?" He asked.
"I don't know. But that's what I mean, she's been acting so weird recently." I said. "She is always creeping around the house, and the way she looks at me sometimes...it's like she wants to eat me alive."
Mr. Khan's head shot up and he looked right at me, the look on his face was one of ... worry and, and another emotion but I couldn't pin point it.
"The wire." He whispered.
"The wire?" I asked confused?
"Yesterday, when that live wire fell into your bath tub...the wire was tucked underneath the flower pots like it was routed to your bathroom." He said quietly. He got up and ran towards the fuse box as I followed.
"It is still here, I didn't really think about it after everything that happened yesterday. But now that I think about it, it doesn't feel like an accident" The wire was tucked neatly under two pots and led to the fuse box where it was connected to the fuse. The wire didn't belong there; someone put it there. I gasped.
"Someone's trying to kill me." I whispered. Mr. Khan grabbed me and pulled me into a hug and I felt him bury his nose into my hair. I sighed as I buried myself into his neck, inhaling his comforting scent. I didn't feel like letting him go when he hugged me, something about him always calmed me down. I could be hyperventilating but as soon as he touched me I calmed down, or got keyed up depending on the situation.
I don't know how long he held me for but it felt like the whole world stopped and it was just me and him. I don't understand this man, he tells me he doesn't care but his every action contradicts his words. He rushes to save me, holds me like he is afraid of losing me and his eyes, the worry, the anguish and relief they express. I nuzzled his neck when his hands tensed around me and he let go. I backed away from him like I was on fire awaiting his "woh actually". But he surprised me.
"I am going to get to the bottom of this, nothing is going to happen to you Zoya."
"You can't do this without me, we make a great team remember! We will get to the bottom of this." I smiled at him remembering our endeavours to find phupi's shooter.
"Do you think Tanu...?" He said not daring to finish the sentence.
"I hope not." I said squeezing his hand. It would break him if his best friend was...I don't even know what she is trying to do. I followed a dejected Asad back to his room.
"What are we going to do?" He asked. "It's not like we can just ask her."
"Leave that to me Mr. Khan, is duniya mein aisa koi kaam nahi hai joh Zoya Farouqi nahi kar sakti."
"Kuch nahi kar sakti." He murmured under his breath.
I glared at him, "meine sun liya! It'd be nice if you put more faith in your FIANCEE, soon to be wife."
"We aren't going to get married, we are going to find a way to get out of it." he said.
"Then why did you say yes to phuphi, you want to marry me don't you Mr. Khan, koi bhi kisi sai aise shaadi karne ke liye nahi manta unless they mean it. You mean it na Mr. Khan?"
Say yes, that's all I need to hear from him, he doesn't have to tell me why yet.
"Ms. Farouqi, can we stop talking about this and focus on the task at hand?" He said avoiding the subject.
"Okay, hubby." I laughed.
"Can you not call me that?"
"Why? What's wrong with it, hubby? That's what you're going to be."
"I don't have time for you nonsense, I need to get to work." He said grabbing his jacket and walking out.
"Bye Hubby!" I said as he walked out, I swear I saw him smiling from the corner of my eye. I also started to leave when I noticed his phone laying on the bed, I picked it up and ran out of the room.
"Mr. Khan, you forgot your phone!" I yelled running out the room at full speed, being me I of course tripped over thin air as soon as I came in front of Mr. Khan. Shit, this is going to hurt. I closed my eyes and waited for the impact. But it never came, instead of the cold hard ground I was encased in soft warm arms. I opened one eye to see Mr. Khan above me. There he goes again catching me, I swear I would be black and blue everywhere if he wasn't around.
"Uh thanks." I said righting myself up. "You forgot your phone..." I said handing it to him.
"Thank you." He said pocketing it and opening the front door as I turned to go to my room.
"Zoya." he said causing me to turn around, he was standing at the door. "Be careful, and if anything happens call me okay?" He actually sound worried.
"Don't worry Mr. Khan, mein apna khayal rakh sakti hoon." I assured him.
"Just be careful." He said finally walking out.

Lemme know how it is! The next part will be up soon, I am in the middle of writing it, it's going to be Asad's POV next! 😊
Here's part two my lovelies! Thanks for the amazing response! I hope you like it, lemme know what you think! 😛
Part 2:
Asad's POV
"The Contractor shall comply with the property management and procedures detailed in 40 CFR part 31.32 and 40 CFR 31.33. Property purchased..." Why can't I concentrate? I have been reading the same paragraph for the past ten minutes. I got up and paced around my office.
Why would Tanveer lie about the factory? Why would someone try to kill Zoya? How could anyone benefit from it? No one here knows her, has nothing to do with her. The girl couldn't hurt a fly much less a person. Are the two linked, does Tanveer want Zoya dead?
I hope and pray that it is not true, she's my best friend. Actually, was my best friend. A best friend is the first person you think about when you make plans. Zoya. They are the first people you go to when you need someone to talk to. Zoya, and well Ammi too. When you're sad they will try their hardest to cheer you up. Zoya. They give the best hugs in the world. Definetely Zoya. They are the shoulder to cry on, because you know that they truly care about you. Zoya. This girl had taken over my life, I could not imagine a life without her, without my... fiance.
That is what she was in all senses, my fiance. I wish I could tell her, tell her that I meant it. But is that what she really wants? To spend her life with me, someone who would probably only ever give her pain. Would I be able to give her what she wanted in her life? Her little fairytale life?
But I couldn't let her go, that thought broke my heart. It made me want to scream, to hold her and never let go and kill anyone that go in our way. Never, never did I think that I would fall in love with someone, especially someone like Zoya. She is the exact opposite of what I wanted but she's perfect. So perfect.
But does she feel the same for me? Could I be perfect for her? I'd be able to protect her, I know that. I could give her anything she wants, but what does she want?
My phone brought me out of my thoughts, I picked it up to see Zoya's name on the screen. I picked it up in a haste.
"Zoya, are you okay? Is anything wrong? Should I come home?" I said gathering my papers.
"Calm down Mr. Khan. Kuch nahi hua! I was just calling to tell you that phuphi called to say that she's going to her friend's house and will be late coming home. Najma is with her too! So I wanted to know what you wanted for dinner?" She said happily. I sat down breathing in relief.
"Okay Ms. Farouqi. You don't have to bother, I'll pick up something on my way home, I'd rather the house not burn down." I said.
"How mean Mr. Khan! It's not a bother, I want to make something for my hubby." she said laughing. Hearing her laughter made me smile. "You know what, I'll surprise you." She continued. "See you later...hubby."
I hung up and sighed, this girl is going to be the death of me. I sat back down at my desk. No point in trying to get any work done here today, it's not going to work. I should just take my work home, maybe I'll be able to concentrate if I can see that Zoya is safe with my own eyes. I packed up my stuff, informed my secretary and headed home.
As soon as I opened the front door I saw Zoya get startled and fall...off a ladder.
"ZOYA!" I screamed dropping all my stuff and running towards her. There was no way I could catch her in time but I held my hand out to brace her head against the fall.
"Owww." she groaned.
"Zoya, are you okay? Should I call the doctor?" I said checking her face frantically.
"Calm down! I am fine, just a little cut here." She said holding out her arm. "this is all your fault you know, you scared me when you walked in. Why didn't you call to tell me you were coming home huh?" This girl, I swear she has some kind of mental problem.
"Miss. Farouqi, when have I ever called anyone before coming home. What were you doing up there anyway?" I said helping her up to the sofa and sitting her down. "Don't move." I grabbed the first aid kit from the drawer in the side table.
"I hooked up cameras all around the house." she said proudly.
"Are you stupid? Why? That's evading people's privacy." What if someone is...well, and it gets caught on camera.
"Chill Mr. Khan, I only put them up in the hallways and the kitchen so we can catch any suspicious activity. And you are the only besharam one that walks around without a shirt."
"You are the one who barges into my room without knocking. You do it on purpose don't you, just to stare at me."
"Oh, puh-lzz! It's not my fault that you roam around shirtless and don't lock your door."
"That's why you stare at me like there is no tomorrow? I wouldn't be surprised if you put up a camera in my room."
"Haaaw, are you dumb Mr. Khan? Why would I put up a camera in your room, your abs aren't THAT sexy."
"So you admit that they are sexy?"
"Allah Miaaa! What's wrong with you Mr. Khan?" She said moving her hands to her head. That is when I noticed a huge gash on her right arm.
"How is that a little cut Zoya?" I asked as she looked at her arm. I grabbed it gently and turned it on my lap. I was about to move her sleeve up when she stopped me.
"I can do it myself Mr. Khan." she said panicked.
"Zoya, shut up for once, how are you going to accomplish that?" I said pushing her sleeve up. I let out a gasp at what I saw. He arm was badly burnt. I looked up to see her eyes closed as a tear rolled down her cheek. What has this girl been through? Losing her mother, not knowing her father and now this. Why would God hurt this poor beautiful girl?
"Zoya." I whispered pulling her face up with my index finger. She finally open her eyes and they were brimming with tears. "Don't cry." I said as I wiped away her tears. She closed her eyes again. I decided to get back to work and wet a piece of cotton with antiseptic wiping away the blood from her arm. She hissed and opened her eyes.
"Shhh, it's okay." I soothed as I applied some Polysporin on her cut, rubbing it in softly to not hurt her. Her eyes were now open just staring at her arms, it bothered her, I could tell. That is why she never wore half sleeves and covered her arms. She was hiding them, she hated them.
I grabbed gauze and placed it on her cut, securing it with some medical tape. She still looked like she was going to cry any minute, I don't know why I did it but I brought her arm to my face and kissed it just above the gauze. She looked at me shocked and went to pull her sleeve down.
"There is no need to hide it Zoya, you are beautiful, just the way you are." I whispered.
"Please Mr. Khan, I don't want your pity. I know that the scars are ugly, you don't have to pretend or say anything. I am used to it." she whispered, her voice cracking with her tears as she tried to get up. I pulled her back onto the couch and forced her to face me.
"Zoya, how could they be ugly when they are a part of you. They are your battle scars, if anything they make you more beautiful, they show that you had enough strength to survive and overcome whatever was thrown at you. I won't ask you what happened and how it happened, but don't ever put yourself down because of your scars." She looked so sad, but it was my heart that was hurting. I hated to see her cry. I pulled her into a hug as I felt my own eyes tear up for this girl. She buried her face into my shirt as I put my face on top of her head. It felt perfect, like this is how we were meant to be.
And that is how Ammi found us when she walked in with Najma trailing behind her, she had the biggest smile on her face and Najma squealed happily causing Zoya to move. I felt sort of empty as she moved away, missing her touch instantly.
"Woh...actually..." Zoya started to say.
"I am glad the wedding is only 8 days away." Ammi smirked walking upstairs. "I am going to lay down for a while, I have a slight headache."
"Awww, you guys are so cute together." Najma said jumping up and down like a bunny.
"Shut up Tamatar." Zoya and I said simultaneously.
"Awww, you even speak at the same time." She cooed.
"Tamatar, don't you have to go change or something?" I asked waiting for her to leave. She laughed as she bounced up the stairs.
"I am going to go...make dinner." Zoya said rushing into the kitchen. Ammi just had to walk in when I was hugging Ms. Farouqi, how am I ever going to convince her that we can't get married now? What is wrong with me? Why can't I stay away from this girl? I got up, picked up my stuff and walked to my room to change and get some work done. I made sure to lock the door this time, remembering Ms. Farouqi's words.
Even though I'd never admit it to anyone, the thought that she was affected by my body made me dance inside and lowered my guilt of thinking of her in ways gentlemen shouldn't. But I couldn't help it, she was always so close, so warm and she smelled so good. Her almond shaped chocolate brown eyes sucked me in, her perfect pouty full lips just begged to kissed. I had lost count of how many times I'd imagined kissing her. Especially when she started yelling at me, or fell on me. It'd be the only way to shut her up.
I opened my laptop and got to work, but even now I couldn't concentrate, I felt this weird discomfort in my chest. Like something was missing. I sighed and turned off the laptop.
CLANK!
Something dropped in the kitchen, ZOYA! I ran out the room and stopped by the table, Zoya was picking up a pan from the floor. She looked up at me sheepishly.
"Sorry, it kind of slipped." She murmured. I walked towards her to see an array of chopped of vegetables, cheese and flour.
"What are you making?" I asked confused.
"PIZZA!" she said excitedly. "Don't say anything, I know you are going to say 'but I don't eat pizza'. It's not like your abs are going to disappear if you eat just a little. Anway, I am using fresh vegetables, whole wheat flour and reduced fat cheese! So it's healthy! It's going to be yummy too! You'll love it Mr. Khan." She was smiling so much, it made me smile too. Somewhere, I knew she was going through all this trouble for me, she is trying to make "healthy" pizza.
"Do you need any help?" I asked causing her to drop the pan again, it hit the ground with a loud thud.
"Uh, um...are you sure Mr. Khan?" she asked. "You can cook?"
"Yes, I can. I just never find the need to." I smiled sheepishly.
"Um, you can grate the cheese?" She questioned.
"Sure." I said grabbing the grater and the blocks of cheese and getting to work. We worked quietly but we moved in sync with each other. If she needed to go somewhere I moved out of her way without her asking. She kneaded the dough while I moved to get the bowl next to her. She looked up and I noticed that she had flour on her cheek.
"You have a little flour...right there." I said pointing to her cheek. She tried wiping it with her hand but got more flour on her cheek.
"Yes, wipe the flour with more flour." I laughed grabbing a napkin from the table and wetting it. "Come here." I said turning her around to face me as I wiped the flour from her cheek which was warming up by the second. I loved it when she blushed. My hands lingered on her cheek longer than necessary.
"Mhmmm-Mhmmm." I heard someone clear there throat, I jumped away from Zoya and looked towards the table to see Ammi standing there with a grin beside a very happy Tamatar.
"Aw, Bhaijaan, are you helping bhabhi with dinner?" Najma squealed.
"Bhabhi?" Zoya and I said at the same time.
"Of course, Zoya agar tum bhaijaan se shaadi karogi toh tum meri bhabhi hi hogi naa." Najma said as it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Asad, tum kitchen mein kabse kaam karne lag gaye?" Ammi asked looking at my white kurta, I looked down to see that it has strings of cheese on it.
"Woh..actually..." I started not knowing what to say, I don't really work in the kitchen. I haven't helped make dinner for years but...wait, why am I helping with dinner again?
"I see how it is, apni ammi ki toh ab kabhi madad nahi ki, lekin apni biwi ki kar rahe ho, how cute." Ammi laughed. "I knew you were perfect for him Zoya."
"What are you guys making?" Najma asked.
"Pizza!" Zoya and I said at the same time. Ammi and Tamatar looked at each other and started laughing. I quietly shredded the cheese again, why am I helping her? To spend time with her. Shut up inner voice! I finished grating the cheese and put it in the bowl and handed it to Zoya.
"Thank you." She whispered smiling.
"No problem Ms. Farouqi." I smiled and retreated to my room. As soon as I closed my room I could hear the women in my life laughing. Sometimes it sucked to be the only man living in the house. I decided to get some work done, finally. And surprisingly I did. I didn't even realize that an hour has passes until I heard a knock on my door.
"Pizza's ready!" Zoya said from outside the door, I heard her feet retreat towards the kitchen. I saved my work and made my way to the kitchen. Zoya gave everyone a plate, as she was handing Najma pizza, Tanveer walked in and I tensed. I didn't know how to act around her now. I feel bad for doubting her, but all the evidence does seem to point at her. She said hello to everyone as Zoya handed her a plate, she went to sit to the right of me but Zoya sat down as Tanveer pulled out the chair.
And she claims she isn't jealous. I tried to control the smile that was overcoming my face but Zoya noticed. I raised an eyebrow at her and she stuck her tongue out at me. How mature.
"Bhabhi, the pizza is so good!" Najma said.
"Tamatar, can you stop calling her that?" I asked.
"Asad, apni bhabhi ko woh bhabhi hi kahai gi naa, bhaijaan nahi." Ammi said laughing.
No one ever listens to me in this house since the arrival of Ms. Farouqi. For some reason, that doesn't bother me as much as it should. She made them happier, she treated my mother as her own and Najma as a sister. Najma was growing to be an independent woman just like Zoya and his Ammi.
"Lekin phuphi, Jammy Zoya sai shaadi nahi karna chahate..." Tanveer said. "Agar woh Zoya sai pyaar nahi karte toh usse shaadi kaise karenge."
Sometimes Tanveer annoyed me, her words cause the smile from Zoya's face to disappear, and I hate how she claims that she knows me well. She may have many years ago, but we had grown apart and I didn't share my feelings with her. She was still my friend so I couldn't say this to her, but Allah Miaa she needs to be quiet sometimes. Did I just say Allah Miaa?
"Tanveer, I was thinking ki tumhe apni factory phir se banani chahiye. I hate to see you not being able to do what you love." I said, hoping she would admit that she had lied, that she would redeem herself. I noticed Zoya stop eating and stare at me.
"Jammy, tum toh jante hi ho ki woh factory mere liye kitne important thi, but jabse meri zindagi ki mehnant jal kar raak ho gayi hai mujhe lagta hai ki shayad yeh ache ke liye hi hua. Shayad mujhe kuch aur hi karna chahiye." She said with despair on her face. I closed my eyes and breathed. This is the woman I trusted, the woman who I claimed was my best friend, the woman I though was a good example of how a woman should be and she is lying to me, straight through her teeth.
She is a damn good actor, but I cannot believe that she would lie to me. What else has she been lying about? I felt a warm hand grasp mine from under the table, the tingles that shot up through my arms confirmed that the hand did in fact belong to Miss Farouqi. She squeezed my hand reassuringly and just like that it was gone. I yearned to grab her hand again, to keep feeling that warmth and to have her comfort me.
"Par beta, tum karogi kya? Waise tumhare paas insurance thi?" Ammi asked her.
"Pata nahi Khala, ji insurance toh thi, lekin company keh rahi hai ki woh isse cover nahi kar sakte kyunki mere contract bas chori or accidents ko cover karta hai." She said looking sad. And the lies continue, she is even lying to Ammi.
"Hey Tanveer, maybe I could look at the contract for you and find a loophole. I did major in law after all." Zoya said.
"Bha-I mean Zoya, I thought you majored in Computer Science?" Najma asked.
"Oh I did. I have a double major in computer science and law, but I chose to do Computer Science for my masters." She explained. How does this woman get more and more amazing each day? I learn something new about her everyday and it never ceases to amaze me, she has been through so much and accomplished so much.
"Anyways, Tanveer hand over that contract to me when you have time, I'll be able to find a loophole easily as a fire is perfect grounds for accidental insurance, they'll probably reimburse you totally." Zoya explained.
"Ji..woh, mere paas ab toh contract nahi hai." Tanveer stuttured.
"No problem, just call your insurance company and they'll mail one over."
"Zoya! This pizza is so delicious, you should make it more often." Najma said.
"Thank you Tamatar! And it's healthy too! So win win for you and for Mr. Khan." Zoya laughed.
"It really is delicious Zo-Miss Farouqi." I caught myself in time, why do I always end up calling her Zoya now? Ammi is going to notice. "Excuse me." I said getting up and retreating to my room.
I sat down on my bed and processed what I had learned over dinner:
1. Tanveer was lying about the factory.
2. Tanveer may be after Zoya's life. Why? I don't know.
3. Zoya is taking over my life.
4. Zoya is way smarter than I give her credit for.
You guys are so amazing with your encouraging comments! Thanks for all the support. I am so glad you guys like it. Here's Part 3, lemme know what you think! :) It encompasses a bit of the last chapter but in Zoya's POV.
Zoya's POV
"Tanveer, I was thinking ki tumhe apni factory phir se banani chahiye. I hate to see you not being able to do what you love." Mr. Khan said, I looked up at him to see he was tensed, he was seeing what she would say to him. I waited and hoped that she would tell the truth, it would hurt him if she lied. She is his best friend after all.
"Jammy, tum toh jante hi ho ki woh factory mere liye kitne important thi, but jabse meri zindagi ki mehnant jal kar raak ho gayi hai mujhe lagta hai ki shayad yeh ache ke liye hi hua. Shayad mujhe kuch aur hi karna chahiye." said Tanveer, this caused Mr. Khan to look up at the ceiling and close his eyes. Stupid Tanveer, why would she lie to the man that helped her when she needed him, the one who trusted her. I could read the emotion of betrayal on Mr. Khan's face. I reached out to grab his hand and give it a squeeze under the table. Of course, as soon as I touched him tingles shot up my arm. I let his hand go like it was on fire and pulled mine back to my lap.
"Par beta, tum karogi kya? Waise tumhare paas insurance thi?" Phuphi asked her.
"Pata nahi Khala, ji insurance toh thi, lekin company keh rahi hai ki woh isse cover nahi kar sakte kyunki mere contract bas chori or accidents ko cover karta hai." She said looking sad.
Wow, lie to the woman who treats you as a part of the family too.
"Hey Tanveer, maybe I could look at the contract for you and find a loophole. I did major in law after all." I said hoping to catch her off guard.
"Bha-I mean Zoya, I thought you majored in Computer Science?" Najma corrected herself in time, but for some reason I didn't mind being called bhabhi.
"Oh I did. I have a double major in computer science and law, but I chose to do Computer Science for my masters." I explained. Mr. Khan looked impressed, yeah that's right, I don't just sit around and do nothing all day Mr. Khan.
"Anyways, Tanveer hand over that contract to me when you have time, I'll be able to find a loophole easily as a fire is perfect grounds for accidental insurance, they'll probably reimburse you totally." What kind of company doesn't cover fire as an accident. You need to have better lies there Tanveer.
Khan." He liked it, I could tell!
"It really is delicious Zo-Miss Farouqi." Damn it, are we back to Miss Farouqi again, I kind of like it when he calls me Zoya. "Excuse me." he said getting up and retreating to his room.
Okay then. I got up and started cleaning the table, with Najma and Phuphi helping me, Tanveer decided to retreat to her room, probably thinking up more lies.
"Phuphi, aap rehne dijiye, doctor nai kaha hai na ki aap ko rest karni chahiye." I said pushing her towards the living room. "Go sit, and do something fun."
"Par Zoya." She started.
"Phuphi, don't make me call Mr. Khan." I teased.
"You know what, I am going to go choose wedding cards!" She said excitedly and hurried off.
I don't know what to do about that, she is so excited about the wedding. Especially, since the engagement yesterday. But do I want to marry Mr. Khan? A part of me was elated but another part hesitant. I looked at the ring he put back on my finger yesterday and immediately thought of him in that black tux. He looked good enough to eat. Why was he so good-looking? And his eyes, Allah Miaa, his eyes told me that he loved me, a lot, like his actions. But his words contradicted him.
That plagued my mind, how could I marry someone who wasn't even sure of what he feels for me? Actually, how could I marry someone when I am not sure what I feel for him? We have yet to have a full out conversation without ending up fighting, except today. When he saw my scars.
I read him wrong, the look that I had assumed to be pity was actually a look of pain. Like he was hurting more than I was. And then he took care of my cut, and treated it like it was the most fragile thing in the world, it brought tears to my eyes. I'd always hated my scars, but for the first time I didn't mind them as much. One simple conversation with him changed my outlook and made me feel a bit more confortable about them.
I sighed and made my way to the garden, I need some fresh air to think about this. The garden of course brought back a whole bunch of other memories, this was sort of our place now. I've lost count of how many times we've sat here and talked, even though those talks usually ended in arguments they are the special parts of our relationship. Somehow he always knows when something is wrong, and he comes out here with a cup of coffee and his ears. He listens, actually listens, he is not the type of person who pretends to be interested, he actually cares. Yet another one of his actions that show his love, if only he could say it.
I was brought out of my thoughts when a blue mug appeared in front of my eyes. I followed the arm to see Mr. Khan standing there and smiling at me.
"Coffee, just the way you like. With milk and sugar, totally unhealthy." He smiled passing me the cup and sitting down next to me.
"Thank you." I said taking a sip.
"Why are you sitting out here on such a cold night, all alone?" He questioned.
"Well, I thought if someone is out to kill me I would just sit here and wait then unleash my ninja skills." I laughed but he did not.
"Don't joke about that Zoya." He said annoyed.
"C'mon Mr. Khan. That was funny."
"Your death is not funny." He said looking at me intensely, his eyes were watery. My mind immediately flashed back to when he had a similar look on his face, after the whole fiasco in Mangalpur. I didn't know what to say for once, so I stayed quiet. Can you believe it? Me, Zoya Farouqi being at a loss for words? But I was, so I just squeezed his hand.
"Are you okay?" I asked. "You left pretty abruptly."
He sighed. "I don't know how to deal with this. I knew she was lying to me, and so easily too. It makes me question if anything she has ever said is true. I put a lot of trust in her and it's just sad to see that I trusted the wrong person."
"See? Mr. Khan, you really aren't a good judge of character." I said teasingly hoping he'd go back to his akdu self.
But he did not. He didn't say anything.
"Hey." I said putting my left hand on top of his, he looked down to where our hands were joined, he was staring at the newest addition to my left hand. "Sometimes, we get hurt by people we love the most, and its hard but you have to give them a chance to explain themselves, they always have a reason for what they are doing."
He seemed pensive and remained quiet until he finally said, "I am so sorry Zoya." He whispered.
"What for?" I asked, shocked.
"I have always judged you and didn't give you the chance to explain yourself. Whatever you did, no matter how childish and irresponsible, was for my happiness or the family's. So I am sorry, and thank you. For everything. Especially for playing along with Ammi's wish of a wedding. I don't know how we are going to get out of it but we will."
And there he goes again, he turned a moment so beautiful into one that wasn't. It's still a drama for him, even after yesterday's engagement. I thought, and hoped, that it was as real to him as it was to me. The way he looked at me, and the way his eyes were tearing up made me think it was. But, I guess not.
"Allah Miaaa, what's wrong with you Mr. Khan? Aap itne emotionally challenged kyun hai?" I asked.
"What did I do now?" he asked surprised.
"Nothing." I replied angrily taking a sip of the coffee. "I am going to go to sleep now, we can check the recordings from the cameras I put up tomorrow." I got up and left leaving behind a confused Mr. Khan.
"Confused Aadmi." I muttered as I walked towards the door. And I swear I heard him murmur "Complicated ladki" from behind me.
The Next Morning
Knock, Knock. "Mr. Khan! I am coming in, you better not be shirtless again." I yelled opening the door, I wished he was shirtless but he was not. Sadly. He was sitting by the window with his laptop. Wow, what a workaholic, its barely 7am and he's hard at work.
"Aap itna chilati kyun hai?" He winced. I just gave him a look that said shut up.
"We have to watch the footage!" I exclaimed sitting next to him and grabbing his laptop.
"I was using that..." He said pinching his nose, he is annoyed again.
"And now we're using it." I said stressing the WE, because I liked thinking of us as a unit.
I accessed the feed using his laptop and pressed play. The wonderful thing about this was that there were four windows on the screen simultaneously showing what each camera had recorded saving me a lot of time. I am a genius.
The first thing that the camera two showed was me falling, followed by Mr. Khan and I on the couch. That brought back to many memories, so I pressed forward and all the footage started speeding by. I pressed stop when I saw camera two showed Tanveer entering the house. She just stood there and looked towards the kitchen.
"What is she looking at?" Mr. Khan asked.
"Us..." I said pointing to Camera 1, which was located in the kitchen and showed Mr. Khan and I working on dinner. I blushed and shifted my attention back to Tanveer who was looking more and more angry by the moment, twisting the end of her chuni in her hand.
"She looks so mad." I observed as she stomped off towards her room and slammed the door.
"Well, that was odd." Mr. Khan said. Well, Mr. Khan, you are a doofus, she was clearly jealous that you were helping me in the kitchen. I smiled giddily, and here I was jealous of her, she likes my man ' I mean Mr. Khan. Too bad she can't have him, actually it's not too bad. Serves her right, Jammy this, Jammy that. She is so annoying when she calls him Jammy, it's such a nasal sound.
"Why are you smiling?" He asked confused.
"No reason." I said. "Kyun, ab mein smile bhi nahi kar sakti? Sab aapki tara hamesha gussa nahi rehte Mr. Khan, people smile and laugh."
"Ms. Farouqi, can we just watch?" He said pointing to the screen. I started forwarding the videos again, through dinner, through me returning to my room followed by Mr. Khan to his, and through the early hours of the night.
"Ms. Farouqui, can you forward faster?" Mr. Khan asked sounding panicked.
"Why? If I do we'll miss something." I said confused.
"That's the point." he muttered underneath his breath.
"What's wrong with y-?" I started to say but was stopped by the sight of Mr. Khan leaving his room in the video and walking towards mine. He slowly opened my door, and looked inside my room. He stood at the door for a few seconds and then went back to his room. I paused the video.
"Allah Miaaa, Mr. Khan! Are you stalking me? Why did you come to my room in the middle of the night? What's wrong with you?" I screamed.
"Miss-" He started but I interrupted again.
"I live with a stalker, oh my god, I am engaged to a stalker. Aap ko sharam nahi aati-"
"ZOYA!" He screamed putting his hand over my mouth. Well, this is new. I had the sudden urge to kiss his hand but held back and just stared at him with, what I am sure was, the deer caught in the headlights look as we stared at each other. Mr. Khan broke it off first.
"I heard a noise, so I just wanted to make sure that you were okay." He said quietly. "I am definitely not stalking you, you are the one that follows me around everywhere. Now when I take my hand off your mouth, please stop shouting. And just watch the video. Okay?" He asked.
I nodded as he let go and decided not to say anything. Why? Because I did not know what to say, thanks for worrying about me Mr. Khan? or What is wrong with you Mr. Khan?. I pressed play and hit forward as well. The house was pretty quiet at night.
"Someone is in the hallway." Mr. Khan said pointing to camera three. In the darkness of the hallway it was hard to tell who it was. But the person approached the kitchen, and when the moonlight hit their face both Mr. Khan and I said "Tamatar?" Tamatar looked around and approached the fridge quietly, she opened the freezer and took out a box. She sat at the table with a spoon and started eating.
"She is cheating on her diet, she is eating ice cream!" I laughed.
"This girl, she has no sense of control." Mr. Khan said shaking his head.
"But she's so cute Mr. Khan, just look at her." I cooed while Mr. Khan laughed. After a few minutes Tamatar got up and left. We started forwarding the videos again, after a few minutes another figure appeared in the living room.
"Tanveer." we both whispered at the same time, she was on the phone with someone. I could barely hear her though. So I moved my face closer to the laptop at the same time Mr. Khan did. There we were with our faces very close to each both intently listening to what she was saying.
"Bi, aap baukla gayi hai kya? Mein kaushish kar rahi hoon, par yeh Zoya har baar bach jaati hai. Meine to usko USA wapis bhej diya tha lekin Asad usko phir ghar le aaya..." She said into her phone. The rest of the sentence was inaudible. But I moved closer and heard "Maine toh usko maarne ki koshish bhi ki thi, par Asad nai usse bacha liya."
What the hell? Did I hear that right? She tried to kill me?
"Mr. Khan." I whispered turning to my left only to find myself face to face with him, so close that I could feel his breath fan over my face. So close that our noses almost touched. I noticed his eyes bore into mine and then move down, looking at my lips. I looked down to his tongue peaking out his lips, slightly wetting them. Dear God, that was sexy. I looked back up to see him staring at me again.
"Zoya." He whispered touching my face with his hand. Oh damn, is he finally going to kiss me?
Voilaaa! and that's part 3 my lovelies! I kinda feel bad leaving it there. mwahahahahaha.
