🤣
The expressions of the whole Lion Club when BCA said that Asad does not love Zoe are as follows:
1. Tamaatar - Disappear, you TV Soap vampie-doodle -doo!
2. Asad - Tannu, come closer so that i can snap your neck.
3. Zoe - Excuse moi? Who are you to become my Asad's mouthpiece?
4. Dilshaad - Bataa! Aaj dinner mein teraa kya banaaoon? Biryani ya soup?
Boy! I loved how the camera covered the disgusted reactions of the Khan family when Tanveer was saying that Asad does not love Zoe. Especially Asad and his Ammie Dilshad - they were like, kya saat khoon maaf ho sakde hainge so that we can kill her only seven times?
Jokes apart, all my mercy , pity and feels to Asad today. Of course, he loves Zoe! But to goad him, blackmail him, pressurize him, cross-examine him , knowing how emotionally fragile he is , was sort of cruel , i think. Dilshad is driven by heightened sentiment right now - she is scared by the hex that Shireen has put on Asad that he will always be single, unloved and miserable - so its a kind of emotional motherly desperation for her to counter that hex. I completely understand her POV and i can see where she is coming from - but , lets admit it here and now - Asad's traumatized baby face and Dilshad's stricken miserable face do get to you. You cannot say that Asad is wrong and you cannot say that Dilshad is wrong either , given the mental and emotional state of both of them at the moment.
You can tell by Asad's emotional teary-eyed face , his sequential flashbacks of Zoe and his inability to meet Dilshad's eyes to the extent that he turns his face away from her - that he is truly in love with his Hoity Toity but 'Little Asad' holds him back. He does not let him open his mouth - his deep rooted fear and his conviction that he has had a premonition during his childhood , that he has seen the future of the woman he loved - all of that do not let Adult Asad cross the bridge and embrace Zoe.
But he cannot lie to his Ammie either. He knows that she has caught his secret and she knows he loves Zoe. So, he just keeps quiet , never meeting her eyes and hoping that the flooring opens and swallows him. He can keep quiet but he cannot lie - he did not lie about his feelings - in fact , he did not say anything. Its another matter that BCA came and made a seven course meal out of Asad's silence and made the whole family wanna predate on her.
As for Zoe, like Roggie and Del and Bheegi Di said and as it has been oft discussed- she has abandonment issues and horror of rejection from Asad. She does not want to process or confront her feelings for Asad unless he says a yes and tells her that he loves her - and he accepts her as she is - and no matter what happens, he will never leave her. This is the reason when she hears Dslahd ask Asad clear cut if he loves Zoe, she shuts her eyes and quivers as though her final semester results are gonna be announced. When Tanveer terms the relationship between Asad and Zoe as that of ' hum dardi'. Zoe wants to break Tannu's face first , then Asad's and then cry buckets. In the last monologue of Zoe, she tells you ( yes, that is for the audience ) that no matter what a misfit sad thinks she is , she wants to be loved and accepted by him - one sign that he loves her and she will explode into his arms and her 'puppy caught in the rain' syndrome will be cured. Zoe knows that Asad loves her and she is only waiting for one trigger from him, so that she can let go of her anxiety that he will reject her.
Zoe is not desperate for Asad, as some fans think and accuse. She is desperate to find her way to her home , to hold on to the wonderwall who will always be interlinked with her. And no matter how much we argue about Asad's bipolarity and the blah, he is her home and he always will be. A flawed Zoe with a flawless heart fell in love with a flawed Asad with a flawless heart. Its just as simple as that.
Creatives try to keep highlighting that Asad is not emotionally-challenged. He is emotionally-damaged and that is much more severe than having 'issues'. Issues are common - we all have them at some stage of life - but emotional damage is some serious damage and one can never imagine how it plagues every single emotion of a person. Remember the hue and cry in the forum when Asad had called Zoe a 'misfit'? It was so not the truth - Zoe is not a misfit. Asad is. He has seen the future - of devastating the woman he loves and he is convinced that when that curve comes , the situation will not be in his hands. He , by a twist of destiny and circumstances , will destroy the woman he loves. Asad , like we saw in his monologue in the last scene , intercut with Zoe's , is convinced that he will destroy Zoe.
Asad does not need judgment. He needs help. He needs Zoe.
Zoe does not need pointing fingers that she is desperate and childish. She needs security. She needs Asad.
Like i mentioned in a post the other day:
Asad is not emotionally challenged. He is what you call emotionally damaged. Its his weakness and not his vice. He will always be emotionally damaged. His relationship with Zoe and the twists in store for them will only worsen the damage. He is tortured and scared. Emotions terrify him because he believes they will never bring him or his loved one any happiness. He will suffer and make his soulmate suffer. He has seen the future since childhood. And he knows its coming up - he can just feel it. For him and for Zoe.
Zoe is not childish or bird-brained. This effervescence is her refuge, her mask and her face to show the world. You take away her jokes and her humour and her vulnerability will be showcased to the world. She hides behind her own laughter. Asad cuts through that fortress and all her vulnerability and her need to be loved comes gushing forth. Its not being desperate as we, the normals, think. Its being desperate to find your way back home because everything is so dark and scary outside . Home. To Asad.
So many times, we get upset on Asad and Zoe and wish that Asad deserves someone like Tanveer 'coz he is some kinda caveman. Or that Zoe should stop being a love sick puppy and give Asad some hard time. That is not how love is supposed to be, These are damnation and games. Love heals, liberates , releases and makes you a better person. Neither does love punish ( Asad deserves someone like Tanveer) nor does it show ego and pride ( Zoe should give Asad a hard time ).
I am sorry if i sound from the old school of thought , but for me, love is surrender and guidance - hand in hand.
P.S- Mujhe Rashid aur Shireen ke baare mein exactly kya kehnaa chaahiye? * Facepalm*
