I am sure that most of you have seen the Saif-Rani starrer Hum-Tum. Towards the pre-climax, Rhea leaves Karan because he wants to marry her out of guilt. Karan loves her but he is terrified of accepting it and dealing with it. Rhea, heart-broken , leaves him and tells him that if he thinks that whatever happened between them was a mistake - then, don't make another mistake. Karan just locks up himself in his house. Then, his father comes to see him - his father who was responsible for Karan's terror of love and what it does to people. His father tells him that Karan is behaving like this because he feels he will repeat the mistakes of his father - that is why he treated Rhea like this , inspite of loving her immensely.
Then, in that one leap-of-faith moment, Karan tells his father - "Aap hi ka betaa hoon, dil ki baat zaraa dair se samajhtaa hoon. Lekin abb jo samajh gayaa hoon, abb dair nahiin karoonga."
And Karan dashes off to France to get Rhea back.Its another story that Karan had to wait for long to get Rhea back . But he was confident that one fine day, she will come running back to him. She did and they had a lovely daughter.
Asad was and will stay in that Karan's shoes for a long time. Complicated hai. Dense hai. Darpok hai. Dil ki baat bahot jaldi samajhtaa hai lekin use accept karne mein bande ki poori life jaa sakti hai.
Asad released Zoe from his warmth and protection , against her wishes. The humiliation, the hurt , the injury and his own straining and killing feelings snow-balled into him taking a decision - Zoe must leave.
She left. Till the last moment of the car exiting Asad's mansion, she kept looking back, weeping and remembering all that was beautiful in there. She, Najmaa and Dilshaad. But most importantly, her and Asad. She did see him standing in the balcony , but she was too far to see and understand his face. She understood that Asad had closed the doors on her and there will be no more Asad in her life. When she slips into the memory of Asad pulling her close while dancing and she landing into his arms in a hug , the car pulls a brake and she comes back to the real world - there is no Asad anymore to hold her from falling. She accepted her destiny and turned her nose towards New York.
Asad. Not expressing feelings or to suffer from the inability to comprehend and express them does not mean that a person is cold and indecisive. Infact , such people have it worse than normal emotional people. They have so many feels, so many emotions that they feel their whole body will burst but they don't know how to deal with them - forget expressing. The moment Asad saw Zoe leaving with luggage, he locked himself in his room - he didn't want to meet her , he didn't want to see her go. But his heart is the toughest muscle in his body - like it is in yours and mine. His heart compelled him to open the door of his room a little and see Zoe , leave. His heart compelled him to feel all the feels of a heartbroken man. Inspite of his activated jerk mode, Asad could not stop the sinking feeling in his heart , he could not fight the tears in his eyes. He could not stop himself from stepping into the balcony and watch her move out of his life. After all, Jahaanpanah ko bhi pataa hai - Zoya ke ishq par zor nahiin.
She went out into the cold cruel world , with tears in her eyes. He locked himself in his room , struggling with his self-inflicted misery and tears in his eyes.
But Asad and Zoya are soulmates who are getting their test-of-love mode activated. For that , they have to be together and how can this be the end of their story? Zoe cannot leave her darling six-pack just like that even her plans ensure that , falling perfectly in line with destiny's plan.
Asad just needed a trigger to dump his weakening resolve and run out of the house and to the runway , screaming 'Zoya'! That trigger came in the form of that video where Zoe had so deeply and emotionally described Asad as emotionally scarred and scared. Dilshad and Najma were openly crying because they could - and when Asad saw that video, especially when she calls Asad 'screw-dheela', you can see that he can burst into tears any moment now.
Dilshad has been Asad's mother , guide, friend, and his mirror. That is the reason she is the most important person to him in the world. Dilshad only voices what Asad already knows now - Ussne jo bhi kucch kiyaa, sirf tumhaare liye kiya hai. Aur koi ladki tumhaare liye ye nahiin kar sakti hai, Asad.
Asad just needed to hear it , to finally let go of that last thread of self-control. Adult Asad won over little Asad and without another word , he picked his blazer , the car keys and he ran to get Zoe back. His heart proving tougher than all his resolve and jerk-modes.
Isn't this Asad the man you all love? He broke traffic rules, he jumped signals and one-ways , he got into the airport breaking rules and alarming security , he ran like a madman hunting for Zoe through the airport and screaming her name. It reminds me of a quote -" I saw a man running through the street. Torn clothes, a hungry face , broken shoes , his eyes glowing and stars glittering through his soul. Ah, i smiled. He was a man in love." I am sorry but I have no idea who has written it.
Zoe, meanwhile, all teary-eyed but resigned to her destiny just walked on mechanically, following procedure. Whatever Dhurandhar was saying at that point was irrelevant. Asad had given her up and she had no reason to fight anymore.
Little did this girl know, that Asad was right behind her, screaming her name and looking at the stranger crowd like a child does when he has lost the hand he was holding and cannot find his way back home.
Tomorrow, Asad will give Zoe a reason to fight to come back to him. He just has to say it once in front of her with that face and like it has happened before, Zoe will come running back to him.
In the precap, more than Asad's face , its Zoe's face that holds your attention. First, she is surprised and shocked that Asad marks her as his own by getting engaged to her - and then, that pretty face breaks into a smile that comes to a woman's face only once in a lifetime.
If after all this filmy drama, Zoe still cannot understand that Asad is madly in love with her , then, not just Asad, even she needs the best shrink in town to check her brain. Its so obvious that even Martians can write an essay on their love story without having to stress much of their brains.
The most engaging moments for me were the following:
1. Asad locking himself in his room after Zoe's exit and struggling with what he cannot handle. Telling his Mom that he cannot talk to her right now.
2. Zoe thinking how Asad had said that even though she is so imperfect , he adores her. It was like , please believe the latter and stop me.
3. Asad screaming Zoe's name in the airport as though fighting the fear that he will never see her again.
4. Zoe waking up to reality as the car pulls brake that there is no Asad to hold her from falling.
5. Dilshad triggering Asad's pent up emotions. If after all this jazbaati lecturing , Dilshad is still gonna wonder whom Asad should marry , then, she has retrograde amnesia.
6. Razia , once again, proving that her devilry is above her daughter. She truly shocked me with what she delivered today.
I am not gonna talk about Ayaan and BCA today. Seriously.
