Chapter 9
Precap: Once back at the Khan Mansion, Dilshad and Zoya have a very emotional talk with each other. Asad comes in and Dilshad talks to him about his nikaah which will take place in 10 days. Dilshad asks Asad if he loves Zoya but Tanveer comes and interferes in the conversation. Zoya is in her room about to go take a bath and Tanveer sets up a trap to kill her but Asad saves her in time. They have a strong moment amongst each other and Tanveer is upset that Asad saved Zoya and Dilshad and Najma are happy and smiling seeing that they both love each other. Later everyone is in the living room and Dilshad declares her decision that Zoya will be her bahu. Tanveer and Asad are shocked but Zoya remains indifferent and leaves Asad is worried about her but then goes to his room. Tanveer is angry and starts to plan to kill Zoya again.
Tanveer was pacing in her room like a crazy maniac. She only had 10 days to get Zoya out of the way and somehow also marry Asad in the process. She made a call to Raziya to discuss with her the dilemma that she was in.
Raziya: "I told you not to call me again Billo Rani. What is the problem now?"
Tanveer: "This Zoya is just a pain. She is making my life hell. I need help to get rid of her as soon as possible. Dilshad is crazy and she has decided to get Zoya your husband's illegitimate daughter married to Asad! Can you believe that?"
Raziya: "Ya Allah, no Billo Rani this cannot happen! I told you to get rid of her as soon as possible why have you not done that? Now this is going to cause problems in my life. I cannot have her marry Asad that will just complicate things for everyone especially me. I have worked too hard and done to many things to keep this a secret and with her around everything will just fall apart. We have to get rid of her as soon as possible."
Tanveer: "This is what I have been trying to tell you. I need a plan to get rid of her. I don't know what to do. Everything I do somehow just backfires for me and ends up getting messed up. Especially when Asad goes and saves her life every time."
Raziya: "I will tell you what to do. Don't worry okay I will talk to you soon once I have made all the arrangements."
Tanveer: "Okay I will wait for your call."
Raziya cut the call and was perplexed with the new situation which had now cropped up into her life once everything was getting better slowly. She had to find a way to get rid of Zoya and that to as soon as possible before Dilshad completes her promise to get Asad married in 10 days.
Meanwhile back at the Khan Mansion Dilshad and Najma were upstairs in the room chatting about Asad and Zoya's nikaah which would be taking place soon. They had to also find a way to get both of them to understand each other's true feelings for each other without complicating things between the two of them since they always argue too much.
Asad was in his room pacing back and forth thinking about what had just happened he couldn't get the fact out of his mind that his ammi had wanted him to marry Miss Farooqui. They always were at each other's throat fighting and they never got along. But one thing that really bothered Asad to the core was the expression that Zoya had on her face after his ammi had announced that they were to get married. She looked dead; she didn't even react to his ammi's statement. She didn't even flinch he realized. He wondered what was wrong. He wanted to go talk to her to see what was wrong and going on in her complicated mind but stopped himself as he noticed it was almost 12. Sleep was far from him and he just kept pacing back in forth in a big dilemma.
Zoya couldn't sleep at all either. She was shocked at what her Phupi had announced earlier that night. How could she marry Asad? She knew that Asad thought of her as a misfit and a musibat magnet who would have never made a good bahu for his family as he had said that night in the farm house. She closed her eyes and thought back to that night and remembered Asad's painful words. Her eyes welled up with tears as she started to cry thinking that Asad would never think of her differently. She decided to go to the balcony to get some fresh air and to clear her mind since to many things were bothering her. She sat down and looked up at the beautiful dark sky. She signed to herself and thought back to how things had gotten so complicated living in the Khan Mansion. She knew she should have gone back when her visa was expiring but she was just looking for a reason to stay back. As she was thinking about all the day's events more tears welled up in her eyes and she started crying again. She thought back to how concerned and caring Mr. Khan was when she was almost about to die today due to the live wire in her bathtub. She had seen the concern, worry, and fear in his eyes. She just didn't understand why Mr. Khan would shut her out every time they got close. She knew he had suffered a lot during his childhood and had to take care of his ammi and sister all on his one but she knew that he had changed ever since she came into his life. He wasn't the same as he was before when she had first met him.
Asad still wasn't able to sleep he decided to go make some coffee for himself. As he came out of his room he noticed that Miss Farooqui's room door was slightly open but he remembered her closing it. The curiosity got to him so he made his way to her room to see if she was okay. As he peeked into her room he noticed that her room was empty and she was nowhere in sight. He got worried and quickly started looking for thinking that she may be hurt or something happened to her. He was about to walk into her room to go look in the bathroom when he heard a sob coming from outside. He turned around and walked towards the balcony to see Zoya sitting out there looking at the sky and silently crying. Seeing her like that made something inside him break, he felt as if his heart was shattered into a million pieces. He walked to the kitchen and made coffee for both of them one strong, black bitter coffee for himself and one sweet milky coffee for Zoya.
Zoya was staring up at the sky when all of a sudden a blue mug appeared in front of her face. She quickly wiped her tears and looked up to see Asad standing there with two cups of coffee in his hand. He motioned to her and she took the cup and he sat down next to her. Both were silent for a while until Asad decided to break the silence.
Asad: "Miss Farooqui'are you okay?"
Zoya: "Yes I am fine Mr. Khan."
Asad: "Then why are you sitting out her at 1 at night crying. Please tell me what's wrong Miss Farooqui maybe I can help you."
Zoya: "Why are you worried about me Mr. Khan? I am fine don't worry about me besides I am just a musibat for everyone so don't put yourself through the trouble of being concerned about me."
Asad was a little taken back by her statement. He could feel the indifference in her voice. He knew something was off but he couldn't put his finger on it.
Asad: "Woh'actually Miss Farooqui I wanted to talk to you about what ammi had announced about our nikaah taking place in ten days. I just wanted to say that'
But before Asad could continue and say anything further Zoya had cut him off.
Zoya: "Don't worry Mr. Khan I will talk to Phupi for you and explain to her that we can't get married. I'll let her know that we can't get married and ask her to find another girl for you."
Asad was taken back and shocked with her statement. He didn't expect her to snap at him about this. She didn't even listen to him fully and she just cut him off. Know he knew something was wrong and really bothering her. As Asad was lost in his thoughts he didn't see Zoya get up to leave. When she murmured a small good night to him he snapped out of his thought and got up quickly. He turned and grabbed her hand to stop her. He felt Zoya stiffen to his touch when he grabbed her hand. He thought back to that evening and remembered that Zoya wasn't like this earlier on when she hugged him back and thanked him for saving his life again.
As soon as Zoya felt Asad's hand grab her she stiffened to his touch. She knew that she had to stay away from Mr. Khan which would be in best interest for both her and him. She knew that she was a misfit for his family and would never be able to fit in with him in his perfect world.
Zoya: "Mr. Khan please let me go."
Asad: "No Zoya. First tell me what's wrong, why are you acting so cold to me. You're ignoring me. Did I do something to hurt you? What's wrong please tell me."
Zoya had to be strong but it was so hard. Asad's tone was full of concern and worry that she would melt to his touch. But she pulled herself together and ripped her hands away from Asad's hold.
Zoya: "Just leave me alone! I want to be left alone!"
Zoya snapped at him and ran to her room. Asad was shocked. Without thinking he ran after her towards her room. She quickly ran in banged her door shut and locked it. She couldn't let Mr. Khan get close to her it would just hurt her more. She fell to the ground and wrapped her hands around her knee and started balling her eyes out. Asad got to her room but was too late she had slammed the door shut in his face and looked it. He heard her painful gut wrenching sobs and he panicked. He started banging on her door and begged her to open her door. He was yelling on the top of his lungs but she still wouldn't reply to his pleas.
His ammi and sister heard the commotion downstairs and ran down to see what was wrong. As they ran down the stairs they saw Asad banging on the door and yelling on top of his lungs telling Zoya to open the door.
Dilshad: "Asad beta what's wrong? Why are you screaming and banging on Zoya's door at this time of the night?"
Asad turned to his ammi and told her what happened. Her ammi realized what was happening and understood that both Asad and Zoya had to sort this situation out by themselves.
Dilshad: "Asad beta just give her some time and talk to her later okay. Let her be for now."
Dilshad and Najma went back upstairs but what they didn't notice was that Tanveer was hiding behind the pillar silently watching them the whole time. She smirked to herself thinking that Zoya had just made her job so much easier since she didn't want to marry Asad. Asad started pacing in the living room like crazy he could still hear her sobs. Tanveer still didn't leave as she saw that Asad did not retire to his room for the night. As she watched she saw Asad's head snap off and then he took off running outside to the balcony. She quickly followed him and saw him going towards Zoya's room window and then saw him climb in. She was shocked at Asad's behavior and didn't expect him to ever act like this with anyone. But it didn't concern her since Zoya didn't want to marry Asad in the first place and then she was soon going to get rid of her forever with the help of Raziya.
Asad climbed into Zoya's room and noticed that it was completely dark. He had a hard time seeing where he was going but he just followed the sobs to lead him to Zoya. He looked down at her and saw her shivering and crying her eyes out. He didn't understand why he felt like taking her into his arms and never letting her go. He wanted to reassure her that everything would be okay but in order to do that he first had to find out what was wrong. Asad sat down to Zoya next to her door who was still completely unaware to the fact that Asad was in her room.
Asad: "Zoya"
Zoya snapped her head up and saw Asad sitting next to her.
Zoya: "How'did you get' in my room'? Please'leave me alone Mr. Khan' I have nothing more to say to you."
Asad: "From your window' but that's not important as of now I want to know what's wrong Zoya, why are you crying. Tell me what bothering you. It breaks my heart to see you like this please talk to me. I'm here for you."
At this statement Zoya's head shot up and looked at Asad's face she looked into his eyes and was lost in them she was losing control and didn't want that to happen because she knew then it would make things more hard for her when Asad turned her down for the nikaah. She turned her face away from his got up and went too stood next to the window.
Zoya: "Asad please for my sake just leave me alone. I just want to be alone I don't want you here and I don't want your comfort. I don't need you to worry about me. I am a strong girl I can take care of myself. So please do me a kind favor and just leave."
Asad had enough he was about to snap but he knew snapping wouldn't help the situation. He got up and made long strides towards Zoya. He grabbed her hand and yanked it to make her face him.
Asad: "That is enough Zoya! Stop talking to me like that as if you think I don't care about you! I CARE ABOUT YOU THAT'S WHY I AM WORRIED ABOUT YOU! SO PLEASE TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG! OR ELSE I WILL GO CRAZY!!
Zoya was shocked at Asad's sudden outburst. Then she felt him pull her into his chest in a bone crushing hug. After a while Asad pulled back and looked down at Zoya. By now most of her tears were dry and he decided to try again.
Asad: "Zoya'will please tell me know what's wrong? Why are you so upset?"
Zoya looked up at Asad and was about to say something when she stopped herself. She was in a dilemma about what to do. But then the next thing out of Asad's mouth shocked her even more to the core.
