I hope everyone remembers the song 'Aaj ki Raat' from Don ( takes time to recall and moon that how incredibly sexy my SRK looked.☺️). In that scene , there is a sequence where the following happens:
PC - Do ghadee mein hi yahaan jaane kya hogaa?
Ishaa- Jo hamesha tha mera phir meraa hogaa.
And its only in the end of the film that you understand why that line was given to Isha and not PC. Don betrayed PC and went with Isha . Isha who knew the plan all along and was confident that Don will never leave her for PC.
Today, i felt the same situation with Zoe and Brocade ki Dukaan. Zoe is totally in love with Asad - truly, madly , deeply. That her child woman mind does not let her drop the curtains and see it is an another matter altogether. Its worth applause that creatives have not let that rainy night go out of Zoe's or Asad's heads because it was a leap in their relationship - especially from Asad's side and his emotional disturbance has only heightened since then. They need to remember what happened that night , what they said to each-other and what changed between them that sent Asad on an ultra-rude mode all over again.
Asad's control over his heart is loosening and his heart's grip over wanting Zoe is tightening. The same denims - tops, the same blabber mouth , the same terrible shaayris , the same messy cranky loud and colourful Zoe. But a changing and evolving Asad who is unconsciously accepting Zoe as she is with all her madness and messiness. What irritated him earlier is now endearing to him. What made him run for Disprins earlier now makes him smile, blush and grin.
A random Bollywood Holi song initiated what transpired between them. An embarrassed and shy Asad. A blushing and smiling Zoe going over the moon happily - Mr.Khan aur maine gaana gaaya?😲😆☺️ ...Asad wanted to remember everything so that he can process his behaviour and see how to conduct himself next in front of her. Zoe wanted to recall everything and interestingly to hear it from Asad's mouth - so that she can blush, flirt , do cartwheels and be in glee that YAYYY! Jahaanpanah and me sang songs , we danced , we laughed and he said some beautiful things.
The very thought that Asad might have been wonderful and loving towards her in that intoxication brought that 1000 watt smile on her face. She wanted to know that memory , to feel happy in it and to be happy like an excited schoolgirl that Asad and she shared a beautiful moment. THAT is what got her curious and kicking to force Asad to admit that what happened that night.
Its not lowness of dignity or self-respect , or throwing herself at Asad that sent her on that pakodaa-sari-sing-dance-dimples trip. It was her innocent need to make Asad admit that he has not forgotten anything - that if she goes all happy , ticklish and blushing at the foggy memories , he is not unaffected either. She didn't go out there to seduce him or get his attention - she twirled like that orange beauty to make Asad equal in that psychological and emotional feel . Its not possible that you do not remember anything about that night. Aur dekh lo, Uskee godhee mein gir ke hi sahee, Zoe ne Asad se dimple waala compliment nikalwaa hi liyaa.
And did you look at Zoe's face throughout the episode? It was so brilliantly happy and so beautiful ( Surbhi has a beautiful face and when she smiles, sacch mein baarish hotee hai ). Her raised heartbeats when trying to talk to Asad about that night , her blushing face, her endearing smile, her mischief , her cooking of pakodas, her slow but adorable torture of Asad , her feminine and innocent dance , her sulking pout at Asad that uske dil mein seena nahiin, patthar hai , her victorious jig that she won and Asad admitted that he remembers everything, her darkening face and gritted teeth when she saw how those yards of brocade were trying to seek solace in Asad . Zoe , is every inch , a woman in love. And a woman of possession too.
Asad? How can he not fall in love with Zoe? And how long can he suppress what his heart wants. His smiles when Zoe was doing that victory jig and when he sat alone working on his laptop , still smiling at Zoe's antics - this is the life and the face that Asad deserves and more than that , what Asad needs. He may not remember everything but he has a fair idea that he told Zoe something that night which made his feelings for her more vulnerable than ever. That is why the Bolly song trigger makes him want to recall what he told Zoe so that he can behave accordingly. He avoids the pakodas, he avoids talking about the very same night when he sees that Zoe is in her stalker mode - he knows that he is becoming vulnerable to Zoe but sometimes, his heart makes his mind forget that.
When Zoe dances outside his room, he is not angry or upset . He is tired of trying to escape his vulnerability to her and Zoe does not make it any easier by reminding him of that night. And Zoe confronting him after getting cradled in his arms , only makes Asad say what Zoe wanted to hear. Yes, he remembers the dimples , the patthar dil essay and his denial that he is not affected by her or her dimples. Zoe gets what she wants - Asad had said something beautiful that night and even though the memories are scattered , they must have been beautiful.
"Inn dimples se sirf kisi dilwaale ka qatl ho saktaa hai,Mera nahiin."
Oh, Asad. Tujhe kahaan lejaa ke maaroo, choose kar ke bataa denaa. Zoe doesn't want any dilwaala , she wants you! But its okay, uske dimaag ka bulb bhi abhi kahaan on hua hai. So, continue your denial and yet-i-will-flirt-with-you rounds.
The last two scenes are significant. Asad went back to Zoe to return her earring but as the forces of universe will have it - the earring didn't leave his pocket. Its Zoe's earring but now it belongs to Asad. Secondly, when Tanveer plays part 1 of her plan, you see how naive and gullible Asad is - and at that moment , Zoe comes and stands at the door - jealous, angry , possessive. The frame indicates that while Asad maybe swayed by his emotional nature , Zoe will see through who and what that Salwaar Kameez really is.
The precap both amuses and disturbs you. Its amusing because Zoe's feelings are so innocent and cute- yet so strong. Asad to kya Asad ka bathroom bhi kisi ko denaa use manzoor nahin hai. Its disturbing because Asad's face is so stricken with disturbia when he sees himself and Zoe all wet in the shower. It just reminds you that even if Asad smiles and grins in this feeling of love , deep down he remembers that he is not emotionally prepared to fall in love.
And now, Tanveer. Come on. Hand it to the creatives for making her more layered than her clothes in one single episode. She is Batman's two-face for me. Wahee jo sikka ucchaal ke sahee aur galat ka faislaa letaa tha. The brown-eyed side is tortured, insecure , confused and lonely. The stone-eyed side ( okay, its not a medical condition but a stone eye which has too much movement BTW) is vengeful, angry , calculative and evil. Tanveer is a woman-who-had-nothing gone onto the dark side. The world was cruel to her and she whacked the world back with cruelty.
I can never sympathize with Salwaar Kameez because of her devilry to innocence like Asad, Zoe, Dilshad and Tamaatar. She nearly murdered them all and now, she wants to sacrifice them all so that she can win her war against the world. But i can see where she comes from. Maybe if she came from a happy home, good parenting and if her appearance was not ridiculed and bashed, she may really have been 'Tannu'. I wish deliverance from sin and damnation for her. Nothing else.
Tanveer has turned out to be a well written complicated vamp in one single stroke of a ME but the actress in question needs to do more justice to her.
For the rest? I still think that Badi Bi is pushing her luck too far. Sher zakhmi hi kyun na ho, wo sher hi hotaa hai. Razia will turn the tables one fine day and we know how far she can go.
Ayaan and Humeira's parts were adorable. They highlighted such a warm, understanding and adorable relationship. Just like Asad is Zoe's back, Humeira is Ayaan's back. Only if Ayaan realized that Humeira is his soulmate and nobody will ever understand and love him like she does.
Oh and oh, how can i miss the master stroke? Imraan is the father of Tanveer's child. Kya bouncer maara hai Gul ne! Kaun soch saktaa tha ye? I was okay with Imraan not wanting to take the child's responsibility but the way he laughed at Tanveer's state when everyone was making fun of her appearance and background, i wanted him out of Nikhat's life instantly. I still do.
P.S- Zoe wanted to lie in Asad's arms or what? Usually girls fall at a 60 degree or maybe 45 degree angle into the boy's arms but Zoe was 30 degrees in Asad's arms.😆... i was like, dude, abb le jaake use couch pe ninni bhi karwaa de. 😉
