Would you mind sharing the name of those shows? I had found some shows really good in the beginning with different concepts, and most of them were aired by Zee tv as Star always plays safe going by popular sentiments, probably IPK and SGP was something different they had tried! Ultimately in the process of dragging all the good concept oriented shows went down the drain!

Mary---same questions have been bothering me-- the CV seem to enjoy milching the same cow however dry it is! The gudiya raaz and the siddiqui family is so mundane and boring!

Bhavna, Have you ever seen the YRF shows? Mahi way, rishta.com, Powder and SEVEN? They are one of the best shows I have seen in the recent times!
Then there was a show called Ladies Special on Sony which was quite good too.

There was also Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Hotel Kingston, Special Squad, Guns N Roses and many more in the 90s and 2000-2001

JJKN was a good and unique concept based show and still remains one of the best show on Indian Telly, but later on even that went a little off track and just became like other shows, any long running show looses its charm later on as they won't be knowing which track to add on!
About SC it has just started, have to wait and watch, how it goes! To be frank for me the show is more of visual treat with splendid filmy set and all, I felt like watching HDDCS on small screen, except for the portrayal of lead male protagonist, I didn't find anything new, rest everything is same old stuff! If the novel is followed then the show would send out a lot of social messages and that would be really unique, because the novel is indeed a great piece of work!

Oh! Yeah, mahi vey and rishta.com were really good and mahi vey had a good concept also, but I guess they couldn't garner much TRPs so went off air soon! Indian TRP audience still like saas-bahu stories, best example is DABH, the original concept was about a ordinary girl becoming IPS officer by passing all odds, but her journey of suffering under mother in law got high TRPs so, after almost one year of show she enrolled herself in the night school!

Astitva is truly one of the best shows of Indian television, the female protagonist was a very strong character, I have not watched the show completely(it was for many years i guess), but my sis-in-law admires Simran character so much!

I loved all the four shows but Rishta, Mahi n Powder were my MOST fav. Powder especially had such an awesome backstory of the underworld drugs trade and all.
Mahi became a bit annoyint during the middle... But Shiv *Sighs dreamily* Im still trying to find a guy like Shiv 😳 😆

Yea I agree... most of them connected to younger generation more than the older one. And pretty much most of tv viewers are housewives and elderly, they tend to relate more to saas-bahu drama than a show about a young successful woman trying to become career woman or something like that.
