Feeling Guilt isn't Redeeming Oneself

I think we can all conclude that Asad's behavior is really hurting everyone. Now at first I was thinking that Asad isn't doing anything different. He was always like this, he was always rude to Zoya. But even though I didn't watch today's episode, I now feel that it doesn't make sense. We keep justifying it saying that he wants to push Zoya away but they haven't even shown us that Asad remembers that night when he confesses everything. Anyway the point is, whatever Asad's reason for acting this way is, it is getting to be way too much to digest. It's not like Asad was such a nice guy to Zoya before, he has pretty much done every mean/bad/rude thing a guy can do. How does his own conscious allow him to act this way to a girl he has hurt so many times in the past?

But this isn't just about his attitude towards Zoya. This even goes to this decision to not take the case back. I understand he feels Rashid is wrong but after all the pleading esp by Ayaan how can he not for a second rethink his decision. Or at-least try to figure out if there is more to the story.

Asad and Ayaan's situation reminded me of a similar story between Meredith and Lexie from Grey's Anatomy.

Meredith ends up donating her liver to the father that left her and her mother for the sake of her half-sister Lexie. Being able to do that even though Meredith was totally justified in not giving her dead beat alcoholic anything of hers, it just lifted her up. It had her strong.

After everything. I think it really needs to be Asad who takes the case back. He needs to do it because right now all he is is an arrogant man who cant see past HIS own emotions. He is attracted to Zoya and hence he is acting this way to push her away. Not once is he thinking about how hurtful his attitude, his yelling and screaming is to Zoya. He is just thinking about HIS feelings. With Rashid, all Asad is doing is thinking about what HE believes, what HE feels and what Rashid did to HIM. Not once is he thinking about this whole other family, this brother he claims to love so much, the sisters. He isn't even thinking about his own mother bc HIS opinion trumps everyone else.

Feeling guilt after all this is done isnt redemption. That's just something you feel. Redemption is doing something to make up for your past mistakes. And this would be good for the story also. If Asad let Rashid go than the investigation would stop for a while and they can drag the raaz story. But at least that would make Asad a little more bearable. Asad also needs to something for Zoya, even if its in secret. Just so we know that deep down her feelings do matter to him. She doesn't need to know it, but as the audience I think we do. And if Asad did that, I would care if he and Tanveer sat on top of each other all day. There's a difference between pushing someone away and being cruel.

I concur.
Except, about the letting Raashid go part. (@ underlined)
I am fully in agreement that since there is no real evidence that Raashid killed that 'skeleton' he dug up, the case is a rather poor one from Mr. Khan's perspective.
Mr. Khan only observed the digging part, not the killing part which is all conjecture, and a rather wild one at that.
On that basis he ought to wait it out before actually pressing forward with a case.
However, if he had solid proof of Raashid's guilt or even evidence to establish a probable doubt, then I would say that no matter his brother's pleadings on behalf of Shireen or Dilshaad's pleas (though I think in that case she would also support Mr. Khan), he ought not to draw back the case simply to 'protect family name/feelings/honor' etc.
One must always try to do what is right, no matter how painful it is.
It is never easy.
If it were, every one would do it.
By keeping quiet about family fights, domestic violence, thefts, substance abuse (drugs, alochol, etc.), and other problems, one does the worst thing possible.
One enables the offender.
There is no honor in that.
Only by reporting such shameful things and taking action on it can one truly be at peace with one's conscience.
@bold:
Absolutely true.
Mr. Khan has been a d*bag from the beginning and we have overlooked it just because he is pure eye-candy...and can surprisingly strike a chord in emotional scenes; i.e he can act
But that buck only goes so far.
All too soon, reality knocks and we wake up and see the utter ass he is and cannot fathom why our gal puts up with it.
Love may tolerate a lot but disrespect ain't one of the things love can tolerate.
That the PH shows this time after time in all their shows just displays their thinking (regressive).
Since we, as viewers, do know that Mr. Khan has strong feelings for our gal, we need to be shown it a la the Mungullpour incidents.
Actions speak a lot louder than words; though both his actions and words of late have only underscored how much of a jackass he is.
Will this happen?
Sure...if the TRPs next week drop below 3.0 and continue to drop.
So a call to all your viewers who are in the TRP group, i.e., viewers in India...please do not see the show at prime time...catch up with it in reruns or online. You'll be doing yourselves and us a service.

After reading your post, I've realized one thing: Asad is in for a VERY rude awakening.

He bullies Zoya, the one thats always been on his side, helped his family through so much, and done what is right. He even goes to the point where he ridicules her about not having parents, or not being worth a family at all, which I wholeheartedly believe is crossing the line. Slapping her was one thing, it made sense given the circumstance, but degrading a girl whose been craving parental warmth or stating quite bluntly that she doesn't deserve that warmth/relationship is not acceptable. She deserves it more than he does.

Second, he's filed a case against a man who is innocent. He may not know that, true, but he hasn't even tried to figure out if his father has actually done something to warrant him as guilty.

Third, he trusts Tanveer more than he should. Yes, you may have talked to her over the phone and she may be a childhood friend, but people change, that is a fact.

All-in-all he is a horrible judge of character. And, when the truth comes out, he has ALOT of forgiving to do and apologizing (especially to Zoya and I hope she gets her worth). He may be extremely handsome, but I want to see him get down on his knees, apologize for everything he's done to Zoya and then grovel until she eventually forgives him 😳

ofcourse, i totally agree that if Asad had solid proof that Rashid committed a murder, attempted to kill Dilshad or even if he had proof against the crimes Rashid did commit ie being an accomplice in the murder and setting the factory on fire than I would question it either

But my point is that Asad just saw one part of what happened and yeah its shady that Rashid was digging up some old skeleton but I think they should have shown Asad investigating more just for the sake of his family and their pleas. As of right now, Asad is punishing Rashid for something Asad assumes he did. It made sense initially, but now after Ayaans pleas, I wish they showed Asad at least questioning his assumptions.

Totally unrelated to the AsYa situation but I really do not want Asad to take back his case against Rashid. Rashid is a criminal, there are no two ways about that. He is an arsonist and he helped cover up a murder! Did the guy even once think about the dead woman's family? He is wrapped up in how life handed HIM a short stick he couldn't see the suffering he may have cause to that woman's family??? Asad is not wrong here. In fact Dilshaad and Ayaan are being highly selfish in wanting Asad to take back the case. Has Rashid even tried to explain himself properly?

At the end of the day the guy is an adulterer, a cheat and at least partly responsible for the murder and cover-up of it so yes he should pay! I am not going to fault Asad here (even if his intentions are mixed up).

With regards to AsYa it's denial and really bad writing!

Let me play devil's advocate here, has Ayaan even once considered that Asad may be partially write about Rashid or is it only that Asad for the first time refused him something?

I completely agree.
You stated some very logical points!
And I wish they'd shown him to be a lot less cruel than this.I mean, I get that the guy lets his emotions rule his head...but why does he become cruel? :S.

And I agree - If he had proof then he needn't listen to anybody. But because he is basing all his arguments on what he saw and know...he thinks that he's right. The arguments automatically become moot. I wish he thought that way.

But the character has never been logical. He's always let his emotions overrule everything. :/ I just wish he had to ability to look at other point of views.

Great post...it's nice to see a post that takes into account Asad's behaviour towards everyone else apart from Zoya...

You're right..although i believe that he's character is acting like its self..it is frustrating to watch him...up unti now we have been hearing how Zoya is not suitable for Asad...he even said so himself..but as the storyline is progressing it seems that Asad is not suitable for her...

Zoya has put all her own goals to one side to support the one person that has always pushed her back and so she is not the typical stereotype of a modern woman who is seen as selfish and fast-paced.
Asad on the other hand has made it his life's ambition to punish his father and all other who come in the way, whether it be his own mum interestingly...and so he stands as a hypocrite for he IS acting like a modern.."corrupt-minded" man...

I think after this whole love triangle storyline the CVs need to really put Asad through an emotional roller coaster where he questions every relation in his life and not just that of Zoya's. For after all this nakhre shakhre...it is Zoya who will have to decide whether she still wants to take him on,...and for that to happen Asad has some major reality checks to put himself through...

And it's just occured to me while writing this that although Zoya is shown as a misfit and besharam...it is actually Asad who constantly walks with his shirt off or who pins Zoya into walls and places...I haven't seen one scene where Zoya has put a blush to the audience's face due to her dressing or where she has inapporiately pinned Mr Khan into a wall...

Damn...i wish Mr Asad Ahmed Khan was reading this...all our problems might have been solved...lol...

dont get me wrong i think ayaan is a spoilt brat who cant do anything for himself and just runs to his big brother all the time. I also didn't appreciate his sour attitude the beginning up the step brother comment. and i would love to see rashid the coward get punished for all his crimes. My point is that, the actually crimes Rashid committed aren't being brought forth. Instead he is getting punished for other crimes. I just feel for the sake of everyone, Asad should re-investigate instead of just not listening to anyone. In doing so maybe he would find out that Rashid didn't kill the women or try to kill Dilshad. i just wanted to see more of a struggle from Asad's side because at least that good allow one to believe Asad is fighting for justice and not revenge. for example, I liked that Asad called the orphanage to bring the dolls back.

Excellent post. Exactly; I am tried of all this abuse and bullying and never seeing any action of redemption on the part of Asad and from what others have said, I should not expect to see it.
