I am a firm believer in the belief the a person is a result of his/her environment and circumstances. Therefore, depending on the action and the intention of the action we can decide whether one bad deed is enough to make you bad.
In Asad's case though, yes, hitting a woman is a horrible thing to do, and what is worse is that they did not show him regretting his actions, almost as if he forgot that he slapped her. Plus, it being an act of impulse does not justify anything. However, his MOTHER was shot and dying. He thought, like anyone would in Asad's situation, that it was Zoya's fault cause she did not get rid of Mariyam. If I had not been shown Dilshad bringing her in, I would have assumed that too. Asad warned Zoya twice, and Zoya too knew the extent to which the bad guys were bad. When his mother got shot, he blamed Zoya..that was the only completely logical explanation! His mother was dying and he impulsively hit the person who's fault it was (according to him)..not thinking about whether that person was a man, woman, boy or girl..and tbh, ANYONE would do that! it was his MOTHER!
So no. In Asad's case, even though his actions were horrible, and so was his treatment of Zoya, considering that he was genuinely unaware, I do not consider him a bad person at all! He is possessive about the ones he loves, and anyone would harms them..directly or indirectly..well they're screwed. This might not be the right attitude, but it's a very human attitude.
Rashid on the other hand, was unfaithful to his wife once, and now he is unfaithful to his wife AGAIN. He just keeps on repeating his mistakes, and victimizing himself, so I consider him to be a very grey character. I want him to get far away from Dilshad!
Shireen was THE perfect wife in the last episode..and therefore I respect her.
Great post btw! Much needed 😃
