That's awesome! 👏 We can only hope right??? But I cannot help feeling that the makers of this show don't feel a scintilla of shame or regret. They won't see this as having painted themselves into a corner.

And you're absolutely right. Asad "respecting" women total bunkum! He only "respects" women as long they conform to his regressive rules. That ain't respect!

It's quite inexplicable to me why Asad would have such regressive attitudes toward women. After all, he's been brought up by a single mum. Shouldn't he be the reverse? It doesn't make any sense to me.

Zoya needs to get the hell away from this guy. She's the most progressive heroine I've seen on desi TV and I would hate to see her cut down and "reformed" and made into one of the cringing sacrificing crybabies we see on practically every other show.

Thanks, but it will not get much attention...I am going to make a post of this...and let us see.

Nice! Loved your whole shpeal (sp?) but I have to comment on this part especially...putting her in her place was kinda the vibe he gave off when he slapped her. Even if she had lied about Mariyam (which she didnt), would it then have been okay? Heck no. Hello. Crazy. I can't believe what Im hearing from ppl today. And yes, I agree..he didnt even flinch. Like at least feel bad. Maybe tomorrow, if Dilshad makes it, he'll come and apologize...hopefully BEFORE he finds out the truth...

I would be very disappointed if Asad were shown to feel remorse after finding out that Dilshaad invited Mariam back into the house.

It would imply that he took out his rage on the wrong person. And any apology proceeding from that logic would be no apology.

An apology has to come from his realization that what he did was unjustified. Period.

I still can't digest that slap and move on. I don't know how I'm going to look at Asad's character. I am so disappointed and I don't think anything can redeem him in my eyes. I seriously didn't expect him to slap. That was going too far. I just can't think of anything but heavy heavy redemption might redeem him a bit. I agree with what Laila2009 wrote:) For now, I want Zoya to walk out the minute Dilshad gets better!

Well if we talk about the real world then I don't think I would ever forgive Asad if I were in Zoya's shoes. A man slapping a woman is not justified under any circumstances. Men who physically abuse woman are nothing more than cowards who cannot solve an issue with words.

Coming to what would be best to happen in the show if we want to move on... First Zoya has to hold her head high and ignore Asad from tomorrow onwards. And puh-lease I don't want a Zoya who feels guilty for everything that has happened and thinks that Asad's slap is justified. That is just a BIG NO for me. Are you listening Gul Khan? And after Dilshad recovers and is in a stable state Zoya should leave that damn house with dignity. Another thing which I want to see is Asad apologizing to Zoya before he knows the entire truth. I mean come on he always talks about sanskaar bla bla and what not... So is THIS his sanskaar?! A mere apology after he knows the truth won't be convincing enough for me to move on. I hope Asad realizes the extent of his mistake and repents. But I wouldn't be too sure if this happens. After all the show is Gul Khan's and 4 lions are known for never giving the female lead justice.

Personally, if I were in that situation (and I'm a girl btw), I'd slap Zoya too. It wouldn't matter to me if Zoya was a boy or girl, I'd slap him/her either way. 'Cause in a way; she/he would be the reason my mother was dying.

But, I am completely against this whole 'violence-being-romantic' thing that seems to be a hit in Indian soaps.

Men should respect women and vice versa. But this situation was a bit different in my opinion. It's not a petty thing, you know. His mother is dying and Zoya is kind of responsible and you're usually looking for someone to blame in these kinds of situations.

Of course everone wants to move on leaving violence behind and I for one dnt know if I can take to the Asya love story anymore. It amy take awhile depending on how they are planning to go on about this...is redemption going to be enough?I really can't say at this point as I am totally shell shocked and seething with rage that they actually went ahead on airing this. What exactly is it Miss Gul is trying to promote here in the name of love?Even if I did move on,there will always be that nagging thought that when will the next act of vionce/opression take place?Great post btw Narangi...it's quite soothing to know that even it is a minority there are still a few women out there who like us,who are finding this totally appalling and unacceptable!

@ blue

My point exactly!!! I don't think the slap was really necessary and I cannot think of anything which will make me swallow today's scene and move on. Today's episode has set up a ground for a very very sickly twisted dark story.

To tell the truth, I'm quite appalled by the fact that we're in the minority. It just shows how much work needs to be done! The protests in Delhi and around the country are just a beginning!

But, you're right, I'm also happy that a fair number of us refuse to justify violence or take this lightly.
