Hi everyone
Sorry, I was not able to post this yesterday but as I promised, here I am with a write up on Zoya.
Zoya means 'Loving & caring, Alive, life and joyous.' The writers have really selected the names very carefully. While Asad is the lion, Zoya is the life. As we have seen, she is a vivacious girl with a zest for life. She makes friends easily, connects with people and leaves an impression wherever she goes. One would think she has no worries in life, but in reality she hides her pain and loneliness behind her radiant smile. She has no immediate family that she can call hers (her cousin sister and jiju are the closest relations she has known) but to her the whole world is her family. That's why she never hesitates in helping a stranger, tears up when she hears their plight and without thinking of the consequences (on herself) jumps right into their pool of problems.
A self respecting woman and educated woman, grounded but not blind to traditions and culture is falling for a man with the very ideology she detests- very conservative, judgmental about who a woman should be, a chauvinist but to her credit, she has learnt to see beyond these external characteristics of Asad. She understands his pain and knows that she can trust him in the most dire of situations.
In a show where most of the parents (except Dilshaad perhaps) have been shown to not respect their children's wishes, she, the parent-less one is the most free-spirited and independent person in the show. Isn't that an irony? Why do some parents force their own wishes on their kids? Hope when Zoya manages to find her father, is not forced into something she doesn't want. So far, no one has been able to change her mind but will she end up surrendering to her father's wishes?
Another irony- Zoya keeps chiding that Asad will bury her alive one day. Little does she know that he is the one who will dig her out and save her life when someone else would bury her.
Zoya's character has been very well written so far. Hope she will continue to be same as the serial progresses. My biggest fear in the future for her- is her heartbreak courtesy AAK (I know he was hugging and kissing her today but later when she is conscious and in her senses, he will shut her out again) and then when she finds her abbu; finds the truth about her mother's death- she might never be the same.
