I think I'll differ on this. Asad's behavior today was not like his aggression the day of the phone incident when he cornered her against the wall. Even that day, he wanted to intimidate her and was not physically abusive toward her.
Today's "aggression", if we wanna call it that, was not done in seriousness by Asad. I strongly hesitate to call it sexist (though it doesn't change the fact that in general, his character is sexist/hypocritical). I felt like he was just indulging Zoya's overactive imagination. He followed her commands, he let her control him like a puppet- it didn't work. He tried semi-requesting- it didn't work. He tried getting irritated-it didn't work. She was still threatening him with outing his secret rendezvous. So then, he decides to 'control' her by using a tactic that will make sense to Zoya's overzealous, imaginative mind. He threatens to kill her, twists her arm and holds her by the neck as proof of the threat's potential (the arm twisting seemed serious but the neck holding was sorta funny to me-it didn't have that serious feel to it, I thought) and the funny/tit-for-tat music in the background is an obvious give away that he is playing her overactive imagination in his calm and composed style. He knows she will do yet another 2+2=15 and really believe that he is a secret agent or what-have-you who has the means to kill her. Another aspect that underscores the idea that he was doing it in jest is that he did not act on impulse. What he did was calm and calculated. If his 'aggression' was impulsive and serious, he wouldn't take the time to mention her earring.
In fact, he has come a long way. His tolerance for her antics has realllyy increased. Surprising. I wanted to die when she made him spill the coffee and when she threw a piece of her pizza on the sofa. Move over, Zoya. I can do a much better job at living in that beautiful, spotless house. 😳
Now that aside, gosh did he use the fake-threat situation to his advantage and boy did he give himself some liberties- what with the peeking at her ear, then staring at her lips twice. Kaafi chhupe rustam nikle aap Bond. She has the ability to bring out the usually dormant man in him. By using the word 'man' I'm not referring to aggression but to the physical attraction a man feels for a woman.
All that said, I'm willing to be convinced that he was being sexist today. But my immediate and not so immediate reaction is that he wasn't. Still, I'm open to change of opinion pending discussion.
And BTW, I so agree with you. Asad won't have any qualms in giving up Zoya for Ayaan's sake. He is too mature and Dilshaadish for his own good. Poor Zoya.

Hey..I love your posts. They are very sensible and well balanced😊 Regarding the epi, I share the same thoughts. Asad sacrificing and Zoya succumbing to it out of love or ego would be totally cliched and annoying to watch. Show whatever u want par ayaan aur zoya ki shaadi math dikhao..There is only so much a person can take I really don want Asya to be ruined.

I really really love reading both of your posts! Always well written and balanced.
'Sexual Tension' is what I saw in that scene. Sexual tension in the truest sense. He became physical with her because of that underlying attraction. That's why he was so calm and composed, yet intense and serious enough to "scare" her. I didn't see aggression in the true Asad Ahmed Khan style, like how he was in that phone incident. Here he was very different, a new passionate AAK that only Zoya was able to bring out. What took the cake was him calmly looking at her ear and telling her he wasn't going to give back her earring. Sexual tension indeed. He was so playing her.
