"Tomorrow, I'm taking a few of our guests around Istanbul," Ayan says, as he scratches the nest of his hair, a doltish glee on his face, "Ammi wants me to take you along. You know, get to know each other and all. If you will be ready by 10.00 AM that would be perfect."

She smiles back at him; a difficult act as she musters courage to speak her first words to Ayan. "I was wondering who will be coming with us. Will Najma or your bhai jaan..." she hesitates taking his name; her eyes remains in the direction of his room as she speaks again "Asad be joining us?"

"Common, Zoya ji! Najma is busy with dress rehearsal and makeup. I'm not so sure about Asad bhai saab. He is always at work. Moreover, he doesn't like playing tour guide. I end up playing host most times."

Her stomach is in knots, as Ayan gets into the drivers seat. Anywhere but here, she thinks, utterly against everything her Allah miya has planned for her that day.

But how was she to know that she had luck on her side, after all. Luck and a lot more, she realizes, when he comes down the front stairs and lowers himself by her car window.

"Move aside," he addresses her in that usual tone of indifference he adopts when they are among company and yet, she feels a heat in her blood with his voice echoing deep in her ears.

"Scoot in. I'm joining you all." he repeats when she doesn't react for another long moment.

Loved the way you're weaving in the past and present ... and the locales ... Sighhh ... Istanbul & Sec'bad ... both have a certain exotic flavour attached ! Very apt of an intense Asad-Zoya romance ...

Their encounter at Najma's wedding was ... heart-stopping awesome and heart-wrenching at the same time ! BEAUTIFULLY written ! 👍🏼

And the blanket-dupatta scene ... I could just 'see' that happening ...

You are a magician with words ... and you've cast a spell on all of us ! 👏 👍🏼
