Nice post. However, I beg to differ on one thing...I don't think Dilshad went to extremes. Her reaction is a very common one we find in situations of divorce, abuse, or abandonment. The victims always think something was wrong with them, that they weren't good enough or that they deserved this. That's why you'll see even children of divorced couples sometimes feeling that some how it was there fault.
I know it's an incorrect sentiment...but it's very easy for an outsider to judge and very difficult if you actually have to walk in their shoes.
But I love how you pointed out how she must have pulled herself up by her boot straps and carried on.
As if single parenting isn't difficult enough...who knows what financial struggles she may have undergone. Yet she managed to raise 2 children in a most amazing way. And I say amazing...because the serenity, the manners, the uprightness, she herself possesses...she managed to transfer onto her son Asad.
We haven't seen her daughter yet...but considering her mother and brother...I expect her to be the same. Thought I do hope she'll be a bit more chulbulli...otherwise life in that house would be quite dreary. 😆
So I too join you in saluting this amazing woman.👍🏼
