Rizwan is such a layered and deep character that we are never short of topics to make on him 😆
This week he has given yet another dimension, yet other reason to discuss him 😆 uff, he is so attention seeking 😉

I am asking you all this question - Is Rizwan Ahmed Khan a Protagonist or antagonist???
For me, he is Antagonist as of now. period.
He has heart alive, his emotions are working fine, humanity still has its roots inside, he is compassionate, he is selfless but the major thing is he is TERRORIST

He is a TERRORIST whose heart is still soft n loving, whose soul n conscience are still pious, who still have humanity alive in him.

Yesterday, when he choose not to expose Naina some viewers are not happy with his decision, they are feeling disconnected with him, they were expecting him to support Preet and not Naina. This thinking and expectations clearly shows that people is viewing him as Protagonist who will always support truth n good causes.

But the fact is fact. He is Antagonist and we can't expect him to do always the right. I understand that character of Rizwan is as such that we cant help to expect good from him but we cannot forget his TRUTH - truth that he is terrorist.

The reason for feeling so could be that Rizwan and Ishaan were always in sync until yesterday, they both were one unit but with Naina threatening him Rizwan and Ishaan are standing against each other and he chose Rizwan.

Yesterday was not the first time that he broke Preet's trust. If you all remember his first task of getting some papers which were under Preet's custody, he manipulated her that time also and got hold of the keys, he even stole the papers but it was his bad luck that Preet changed the papers in middle of night 😆

And today he will be throwing away the phone in paani ka glass 😆 the only difference is papers chori chupe liye but phone samne destroy kar raha hai

What I am trying to say is we cannot expect him to leave his mission Khuda bharose n play all goody good
If he would have choose to expose Naina at cost of his COVER he would have been foolish instead of selfless

For a moment, lets think he did exposed Naina then what??? Naina will reveal his ID too and What Rizwan will do then? Escape from the Hooda's Mansion? what Hooda's will do? they will definitely interrogate him, force him to speak out truth or may even get him arrested. So exposing Naina at cost of his Cover would be foolishness and it would have looked unrealistic, IMO.

He is supporting Naina for 2 causes: First to keep his ID intact and Secondly for Preet's sake as he cannot see her getting hurt.

For second reason:
The reason he cannot see Preet hurt is, if she is hurt then he will feel the pain, he will be hurt seeing her hurt, he is afraid of seeing hatred in her eyes for him so indirectly he is doing it again for himself

In both the cases, he is being selfish and i am okay with him being selfish, Humans are selfish beings, they first think about themselves, Even if they are thinking about other's good uske peeche bhi selfishness hoti hai 😆

p.s. I hope i have made sense 😳😆

OMG
You have very well written penning down all the thoughts I was having.

Coming to the second point you have noted is what he actually he feels for Preet.

And for Rizwaan being selfish I won't mind coz as you said every human being is selfish being.

Rizwaan was here in this country for his mission. So eventually he has to hide his cover to complete his mission.

As I remember in episode 10 he had said to Sana that just to complete his mission K kaash muje Preet ka aur Hodda parivar ka istimal nahi karna hota
Here in this case he is guilty for what he is doing.

In both ways he is the Protagonist and Antagonist.

Hope I didn't write down rubbish

Wonderful topic! ⭐️ You know its characters like Rizwaan that make you wish for some other categories - you wish k kash koi aur category hoti! He doesn't fit into the conventional molds.

For me he is a person whose hard luck is that he has to spend his life shifting between the antagonist and protagonist mold. He is leading a dual life, and thus undergoes both these roles simultaneously.

One life's antagonism makes him the protagonist for the other side and vice versa. When he ignored Atif's calls and went to Preet he was the Rizwaan the antagonist but Ishaan the protagonist, last night when he manipulated Bilal then it was Rizwaan the protagonist for his mission turning Ishaan into an antagonist.

His two identities are poles apart from each other, which put him in a conflict in EVERY single situation of his life, and his tragic flaw is that he wants to fulfill the duties of both, that is what will always end up making him an antagonist through one or the other way - ALWAYS.

He is the hero and the anti hero, the savior and the destructor, the light and the darkness, the God and the Satan - He is love and hate - and that is the beauty of Rizwaan Ahmed Khan.

Rizwan is both a protagonist and an antagonist. He is your epitome of a Grey character. He has a task to complete. He uses people to complete that task. He eliminates obstacles in his path. But he is not a man without feelings or a man without total conscience. For the first time, an Indian TV show has attempted to show a non Indian as the male lead. Not only that, he is a man who is doing something immoral. But he is the main character and sketched in such a way and enacted in such a way that we feel empathy for him. Even while we hate what he does!

He is a hero and a villain in one. Truly a great role for Iqbal. It must be a rewarding experience to get the chance to enact someone so complex and not easy to decode. Even while you understand why he does what he does, you hate it, but you cant totally hate him! For the first time they have made us invest in a male lead who is actually an outlaw. In movies I have seen this, in western shows I have seen this. But I have never seen it on an Indian show. It's good to see they took a chance and clearly it paid off. The show has a cult following.

He is a lover, a husband, a friend, a son, brother, father, loyal agent. SO many roles for one man to fulfill and most of these roles are not even true for his own life. He is pretending to be most of these things. But we can see in this "undercover" experience, he himself has started to identify with his victims. They are victims of his deceit, and they are so in love with him. He knows this, but lives with them daily, expunging the guilt. But he DOES feel guilt. It just keeps getting more complicated by the minute! Which is exactly how I like it! I love "complicated". The more complicated the better! So Rizwan Ahemed Khan is just my cup of tea! After all, a girl has got to have something to psycho analyse and this guy is a cut piece!

Great post BTW!

For me Rizwaan is the Antagonist at the moment... Thought he thinks good about Preet and the Hooda's.. It does not amount to much because of his actions...and actions do speak louder than words... "Kya Rizwaan Khan as a standalone ko sach, vishwaas really mein kya hote hai pata hai kya?" He might love Preet selfessly but he ends up hurting her selfishly... ' Antagonise' does mean 'struggle against'.. So what is Rizwaan Khan struggling against? He is struggling against the truth.. To prove the false against the truth... Rizwaan will remain the Antagonist and more even so when he starts struggling against a bigger Antagonist... When he will struggle against the false... To prove the truth against the false... Whatever may be the outcome...The day this struggle is complete he will become the Protagonist...
