CHAPTER 2:

"Hello".😊..a message came to Pankhu. She replied- "Hi! Where do you live?"

The boy replied-"Kullu. You?"😛

"Mumbai...Where is Kullu? I never heard of the place!"

"What? You don't know where is Kullu?😲 Its in Himachal Pradesh.😃 And it is a very beautiful place..😊."

Pankhu's face brightened. "Himachal Pradesh? Means there are mountains in Kullu? And snow too?"

The boy replied- "Yes there are. 😊And only yesterday we had snowfall here.."

Pankhu was lost in thoughts for sometime...then she wrote- "Wow...you must be enjoying a lot there! And I have never gone to the mountains..."😔

"Its okay! Why do you sound sad? Even I have not gone to Mumbai! Now tell me...what are your hobbies?"...😉

And in this way, Pankhu and her new found friend chatted for a long long time...and this continued for days, months, years...😊The lonely, orphan girl was only too happy to get a friend like Aditya!😊 She called him Addy, and Aditya called her Pankhy.😳 Although they didn't even know each other's faces, they had become the best friends ever!! Their hobbies were same, their favourite songs, favourite movies, favourite dishes...everything matched!😛 But what didn't match was their family background...while Pankhuri was from a rich, affluent family in the big city of Mumbai, Aditya was from a middle class family in Kullu. Pankhuri had all the luxuries of life...but was devoid of love, affection, and care of family while Aditya didn't enjoy luxuries, but he always enjoyed the love, care and affection of all the members of his big, joint family. His father was a small television actor, while his mother was a school teacher. Other than these, his family consisted of his mama, mami, chacha, chachi and cousins...a brother, Rubel and a sister, Kaira. And of course, he had his grandfather, who is none other me, the narrator of this story dear readers!😃😎

Adi enjoyed a childhood full of fun, and there was nothing he had regret of...except...a disease...he suffered from diabetes, due to which he had lot of restrictions on food and had to take regular medicines...

3 years passed by, and Adi and Pankhu only grew as friends. Then one day something happened...which brought about a turn in their lives...

Pankhu was sitting in her room when suddenly Govardhan came rushing there and closed the door. He was sweating, and his expressions suggested that he was in some serious trouble. "Kya hua mama?😲 Why..." "Shh! " Govardhan snapped Pankhu midway. "Listen Pankhuri...I think you won't be able to stay here for long...you will have to go. Padma is planning something serious and it won't be right for you to stay here. I am planning to send you to a boarding school somewhere far away...beyond Padma's reaches." Pankhu was surprised and also sad.😔 She said- "But mama, how can you send me to a boarding school?😭 How can I live all alone?" Her eyes filled with tears and she was about to cry when Govardhan said- "no Pankhu, you can't be so soft-hearted...you have to be strong!😳 Or else you won't be able to survive in this world full of greedy, cruel people. Promise me Pankhu, you will never shed a tear in your life. Promise me, that you will always face the difficulties of life with a brave heart...and also promise me that...that...you will never look back or come back here. You will start a new life and NOT allow your past to overshadow your future..promise me!" and Govardhan put forward his hand. Pankhu gave her hand and said-"Ok..I promise mama!".😊

In the darkness of night, without anyone's notice Govardhan and Pankhuri crept out of the house quietly. Then they headed towards the station and took the train to Kolkata. Sitting in the compartment, and looking out of the window, Pankhu suddenly saw two figures...her late mom and dad, waving farewell to her. Teary eyed and with a heavy heart, Pankhu watched her childhood rush past her as the train headed speedily towards her destined future...
