A slightly confused newbie...

I am new to PKDH. I stumbled upon the show one day a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with it so have started watching from the beginning (via online links) to catch up but Im so confused about one thing. Why is Pankhudi lying to Adi about dating Shivam? Whats the purpose because Adi hasn't professed that he loves her so if they're just "friends" right now, then why not tell him the truth?

Neha sent Shivam to meet PK as a maybe for his bride but there was a MU caused by Adi's Mami and Mama , they tricked PK saying he was here 4 an interview 4 the office she worked at & they wanted her to meet him. Adi asked PK why she was late from work on one of the episodes, he then said it is not like u have a boyfriend in pure panic/anger she said yes and when he asked name she said shivam, just then shivam called her and Adi kept on asking questions so the lie spread from there . Hope you keep watching cause we want this show to get into the top 10

I wanted to add a few more things to what Arshi wrote. PK & Adi had fallen into a routine... he would pick her up or drop her to office...plan birthdays together etc. If you watch the episode of September 10... you will see that Sheela mami berated PK saying things like ... when a boy & girl meet secretly there is only one reason for it... this is not your "gaon"/ village where you could secretly meet in "Chaney ki khet"... she was trying to say you guys are not friends.. you are lovers... but your dream will not come true bcos "tum Adi ke laek nahi " he will eventually marry Latika. She was super mean.

This stirred something in Pankhuri & she started avoiding Adi... that's why she stayed in the office late & mentioned she had a boyfriend (September 11).
